Located on the second floor, but the entrance is on the street level corner with elevators or stairs up. We've completed five different rooms here over the last few years. The challenge ratings are pretty accurate and with a good group you have a chance to solve them in time. Be prepared for very thorough searching, good team communication, math skills in your head or on paper in the room supplies, challenges pouring chemicals, ducking under lasers, and serious mechanical puzzles. Some locks are tricky so it's worth having two people try. The rooms last an hour and you can order drinks before. The area is surrounded by restaurants and just two blocks from the convention center if your team needs a getaway. Definitely recommend and will be back!

It was amazing and would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys puzzles. We had a mixed group (some friends, some strangers), but everyone was helpful, inclusive, and I enjoyed the experience even as a shy individual. Jess, our host was perfect and very informative about the rules as most of us were new. It was exceptionally busy (Gencon), but everyone there was still very kind and helpful.

We tried this place out today and to be 100% it was a total let down. It started when we arrived. We got off the elevator and no one was around. After about 5 mims another group showed up and asked if we have found anyone. My daughter finally found a lady to come help. She was very friendly and set us all up very quickly. Wait times were kinda weird and long but I figured Mondays probably not alot of people working. We had lunch and came back. No problems getting into the waiting area. Our lady came out to get us. She maybe spent 1min telling us what to do. She asked if we had any questions and everyone just looked at her... yes all the questions. She just said "use the walkie talkie with questions" We got into the 2nd room pretty quickly my daughter turned on the light with the light switch and over the walkie talkie the lady says "Remember I told you not to turn on the light? and if you are to loud I will call security " NOT once did she mention we had to be quite bc we were stealing The Mona Lisa, lol. It killed the whole vibe bc we really thought we were in trouble for turning on the light.. It was over all super weird amd not fun.. We have been there before and the guy we had was funny and made it enjoyable. We laughed the whole time. Today the lady we had made us not want to return. This lady left us all confussed. Even the pictures at the end were super weird. She didn't know what she was doing and froze the camera 3 times. Overall I would just chalk it up to being weird..

This is the best escape room i have ever been too. They are so overly welcoming and kind. The escape rooms themselves are amazingly done. I 100% recommended!!

Awesome experience!!! Thank you Shannon and Maya for making this trip to Indianapolis a great one. The best escape room we’ve been at so far. We did the Monalisa thief theme with our 11year old twins and they loved it!!!!

Visited Escape Room Indianapolis for the first time after many recommendations - but we were sadly very disappointed with the escape room! We chose the space escape room. *summary* - we could not reach our host for clues - many items were malfunctioning and broken…leading to us not being able to get through the steps of the escape room At first, we were given a walkie talkie to use to ask our host for “clues.” We got through the first room pretty unscathed and without help. At the second room, we got stuck. Our group spent about 10minutes trying to radio to our host for our first clue. She did not respond. We waved our hands in front of the camera and called into the walkie probably an upwards of 10+ times “Hello? We need a clue. Is anyone there?” With no response. We fiddled with the volume - turned the walkie off and on. Radio silence! About 10 minutes into us being stuck at a certain step, we finally got a response from our host over the walkie. Later she told us she thought her new headset malfunctioned and she could not talk to us during that time. It definitely got us behind in time. We then had two/three malfunctioning clues in the room that ended us up severely behind in time. We had about 5 minutes of the escape room left when our time ran out - we were so close but unable to finish due to the room’s equipment malfunctioning. Three keys did not give us the clue they were supposed to - the host had to radio us a code to get through that step. We tried these keys a number of times at the instruction of our host and they did not work. We were very confused. She later came to the room and tried the keys herself, and they did not work for her either. So just malfunctioning equipment that resulted in poor game play. Finally, there was a device that was supposed to use imaging to give us clues/answers to the puzzle - that device did not work properly either. We again probably spent an upwards of 10 minutes trying to get the device to work as the host was instructing us on its use. We had to just play the game of guess-work to get though that step. At the end of the game, the host attempted to show us how to use the device appropriately and found that it did not work for her either. Our host was very kind - she clearly was flustered by the fact that several items of equipment in the room did not work. She apologized; but we were very disappointed that the equipment malfunctions were the reason we didn’t finish the room. We certainly would’ve gotten through it had the escape room of Indianapolis had properly functioning equipment. We attended the room with a couple of friends that had been there many times before, and they were just as frustrated/disappointed about the mishaps. They stated it was the worst room and most trouble they’ve ever experienced - and it was truly because of the poor/malfunctioning/broken equipment. We have done a few escape rooms before with other companies and never experienced the inability to reach your host for clues and broken/malfunctioning equipment that led to us not finishing a room.

We did the bank heist. It was clever and fun. My issue is the 10 people they put in one room. That's four too many. Puzzles were challenging. This room takes place in the dark utilizing flashlights if that bothers you, stay away from this one. Staff is super friendly and pre-escape room drinks were great.

Great experience doing the jail break. Well put together room. Engaging but not way too complicated. Maxx was a great gamemaster. I've had some bad experiences at escape room-type places in the past (mostly due to lazy and unattentive staff), but have always had a great experience with the staff at The Escape Room in downtown Indy and Fishers.

We had a great time and our " correctional officer John " / host was awesome and amazing. I totally recommend going as a group of 4 or 5 and a few drinks going In weren't hurt lol

Great escape room. The staff member was really knowledgeable about the particular room and the background story. You will have to find parking downtown, but other than that, it is great.

This escape room is located in downtown Indy. The surrounding area is nice. The escape room are professionally done. My favorite part is that they don't limit your hints. My family plays escape rooms a lot and try to limit our hints, but it's nice to not be limited. The goal is to have fun! My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that they don't update rooms very often. We have played all of their rooms and a new one comes out about every 2 years.

Had a lot of fun! Jenna was an excellent host and really helped make this a challenging but rewarding and enjoyable experience. We made it out just at the last moment. We did the Art Museum and it was just the perfect level of difficult for a group of 4 with only a little experience in escape rooms.

We had SO much fun! The rooms are very well constructed, with high production value & very cool special effects, the puzzles were a perfect level of challenging -- neither easy nor terribly difficult at the level of difficulty we chose (& I've heard they have some especially challenging rooms as well for the hardcore Escapers), & our game master, Matty, was FANTASTIC! Funny, informative, knowledgeable, & very helpful with a hint (should you need one). All in all, we had a wonderful time & will absolutely be going back to take another crack at it -- & actually ESCAPE this time! ;)

This place was so fun! We did the "Jail Break" room and had a blast. Made it out in time. :) Our "guide" (not sure of their title) was Alexa. She was fantastic- sweet, patient, and very helpful. This is in a beautiful building and everything was clean. It's also right above The Old Spaghetti Factory, so a great place for fun and then lunch or dinner!

My group had an absolute blast stealing the Mona Lisa in our adventure at The Escape Room Indianapolis. The staff were very welcoming and had us quickly signed in and in the waiting area. The drink selection was super cool and thematically geared toward the rooms. The Escape Room experience itself was great. There were a variety of tasks that kept everyone engaged and gave everyone a chance to shine. I would definitely recommend taking on one of their rooms in your near future!

We had a blast attempting to save the world! There were good effects and props with challenging puzzles, and Nicole was an awesome room host. This will be my final review ever as we're currently floating out in space, but I would still highly recommend The Escape Room Indianapolis.

We visited Escape Room Indy during GenCon and did the Bank Heist escape room. It was a mixed bag. While it had some cool clues and scenes, it had a number of issues. First and foremost, our group got stuck on the multiple spinner locks - although I totally get that they fit the theme of a bank, the spinners were extremely finicky and complex. For one lock in particular, we had the correct code but it still took us 15min to open it because the spin instructions were so complex. We asked for a hint and the worker said that we were missing a part of the clue, which we quickly found but it didn't actually change the lock combo that we already had (which feels like poor puzzle design). They also had us in a group of 9, and it felt like the room was a better fit for 4-6. They gave us flashlights for the room as well, but half of them did not work so some of us had to use our phone lights. Definitely some cool elements, but overall it left us wanting. The staff was generally friendly, and it was fun to bring a beer into the room.

We escaped from the Art Heist room, and Chase was our 'host' - so much fun, and definitely challenged us! We got out with 3 minutes to spare!!!

Did the Art Galary escape room. We had 4 people, and successfully "stole" the Mona Lisa, only requiring one hint. Lots of clues to work through, it was challenging and fun. The escape room was very well done and felt pretty realistic. We loved it.

We did Mystery Mansion and it was amazing they actually are taking me back on Saturday June 18th 2022 for my birthday which is technically Monday June 20th 2022 but it was amazing and I highly recommend it I wish they gave discounts on getting multiple rooms. Thoreus Abomindoom Maethinos

The room was amazing! Ari was also a great host and was friendly and helpful. We had a blast solving the riddles and such to get out of the room. The room was very well maintained.

Fun experience and Laundon was very helpful as our experience guide. We figured it out with only minutes to spare and I wish I could say it's because we're just that smart but actually we needed a few helpful nudges from Laundon. I would suggest fewer puzzles requiring counting but the rooms themselves were delightful. My only escape room experience but I hope to try more soon.

Had a great time trying to steal a painting, but just barely ran out of time. Nicole was a great adventure guide and can't wait to try another room out in the future.

  • 2/5 Jen S. 1 year ago on Google
Badly designed puzzles that are too heavy on number locks as the attraction. Poorly conceived to the point that two digit number clues are supposed to be used several times for three number combination locks. Would not go back.

RJ was very helpful, we booked last minute so we ended up with a harder difficulty room, he was as helpful as he could be with out telling us.

The experience was okay. We did the museum room. Some of the clues were a bit confusing on what they meant. Like there was this one clue that said, “Count the number of all visible legs in the artwork.” Does it mean bare legs? Any leg? Table legs? It was also a bit math-heavy. Lots of adding and counting. It was still fun I’d say but I don’t recommend it for groups of 6 or more. Thanks London!

  • 2/5 Matt S. 1 year ago on Google
Room wasn't reset before our session so we wasted 10 minutes on defective clues. 1/6 of our time wasted because of staffs failure to reset

  • 3/5 Marah B. 1 year ago on Google
I had a group of 6 for the Bank Heist. This was the group's 8th escape room. We would have finished the room had we not had to jiggle with locks that wouldn't open. Max did a great job being our host, but I was super disappointed by how hard it was to open some things. We had to fiddle with locks for 10 mins, following the directions precisely, because a lever kept sticking. The Bank Heist is their hardest room, but I am confident we would have finished it if it wasn't for the locks. Also, they only gave us two pieces of paper and we needed a ton more because the room was super math heavy. Might be back, but not for awhile.

I thought it was a great time with friends! A lot of challenging locks and puzzles. We went to the wyvern room and my only suggestion would be to mention that there is a dragon located in the room! Good time!

We've been coming here for a couple of years now. Before we've always had a good experience but they've recently done away with the 2 way radios that they used to use. Now it seems like the games masters aren't as responsive which kills your time when waiting for a response. Before, with the radios, responses we're immediate.

👍👍 Came here for our 12 year old's birthday party and had a great time with the Mystery Mansion. Sid was an awesome game master and only provided hints when asked. The hints also weren't just answers and still allowed us to work our way to the solution.
