My favourite place to take a walk in Indianapolis. The view from war memorial is beautiful. My most memorable moment was of the rainbow appearing during autumn.

Very good design. Good place to pay respects to those who died for the country. Seems well maintained. Sadly too many homeless around here and donโ€™t feel safe to stay too long for the strong smell of weed.

I friend and I took my dog for a walk on some of the trails in Indianapolis. We stopped for water breaks several times and in one field we watched some people playing Frisbee football. It was a great walk and a great day.

With a similar feel to the Mall in D.C. and as one of the only large green spaces in downtown Indy, this mall has much potential. However, for those of us who live downtown, it's mostly an UNSAFE passive space. Every single Saturday -- often all day -- and sometimes through the week, the City allows a huge group of people to be fed in the Mall (right across from our beautiful Central Library). The area is not safe, especially as a petite female. Two good friends live in an apartment building nearby. We have been verbally harassed numerous times walking past the park or into the library. And all their trash litters the area. It is mind-boggling that the City allows the park to be used this way. I've lived in and travel often to other cities (NYC, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta). Not once have I seen them turn over their major green space in this manner. Please find a better, more appropriate spot to feed 100-200 homeless than downtown Indy's only large public park.

Very beautiful park area. Nice landscaping and well kept up. Great place to walk or bicycle. Also a nice place for reflection and remembering our veterans. Impressive monuments. Right next to downtown with great views of that as well. Yes, there were a few homeless people but they were not a problem.

Attended outdoor concert here on a Saturday night. I didn't see the mall in the daylight. It was really nice at night.

The American Legion Mall is a treasure chest of Indiana's military history and memorials which pay tribute to Hoosiers and their sacrifices to our country's freedom. The spectacular grounds are home to terrific events year round. The Indiana Veterans Center, 777 N Meridian, is a resource hub for active military, veterans and their families. The true gem on the American Legion Mall is the magnificent Shrine Room inside the Indiana War Memorial. It is breathtaking, magical and majestic.

This whole entire area is impressive with it's dedication to American War Veterans. Definitely makes the city of Indianapolis what it is. I never realized that the city has so much dedicated to American Veterans. Almost rivels DC for all the memorials.

Very sobering and solemn memorials. I am deeply touched by them. So, many names... so many... too many...

A great place to relax, nice park setting. The memorial is well done and should be on your list to do when visiting Indianapolis.

The expansive mall is a lot bigger than pictures suggest. Very open and clean. The grass is immaculate. Am unsure if you're allowed to picnic or hang out like Central Park but it's yet another Indianapolis gem.

Beautiful scenery for War Memorial and seating for events. Minimal food vendors with crazy long wait times ... at least an hour

When members visit the National Headquarters of The American Legion it is traditional to sign the drawers in the desk assigned to your state in the meeting room of the National Executive Committee. I signed the drawer for the first time in 1993. As I look over the drawers it brings back a lot of memories because many of the people who signed are no longer with us.

I like the wide open space, in fact that's where we hold our homeless ministry. It's really nice in the summer time.

Its an old structure from back when people cared about having grand places that I suppose made them feel like they were building a new Europe and its sad that the time may have passed when great buildings will be commissioned. I suppose that would require great people (not many heroes around) or events ( aside 9/11) or heaven forbid a war to inspire such a thing. Its odd to think but I suppose future generations will read these reviews to peer back into the minds of people alive now in our present day. Perhaps Ill start detailing a different sort of narrative in my reviews and maybe Ill pioneer a movement. All I know is humanity has a long way to go before all nations can unite towards the goal of leaving this planet (written at the time humanity begins to suffer the wreckless years after the industrial revolution and we begin our attempts at reversing the damage but I feel we are most likely too late. We may have time to leave behind artificial life that will hopefully be more peaceful and be the ones that will inherit the vast cosmos and learn how this all came to be. And maybe they will clone us from the ashes. I often wonder if that hasnt happened already. And what we think are aliens are just the AI from the civilization before us that try to remain hidden so their secret remains and because they fear our reaction. The missing link may not be found because it may have been how humanity was brought back...having our DNA spliced into the only species available by the AI....and perhaps thats why we struggle with our base instincts and or rational sentient part of our being....a fractured hybrid if you will.

Had the exclusive opportunity to attend the National American Legion College... To say the American Legion National Headquarters is impressive would be an understatement. Just walking in the halls that so many game-changing Legionnaires have, in itself is mind-blowing.
