Haldiram is a brand we know and trust. In Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport, I was wandering hungry and as there is literally no option for Meal in the entire Domestic Departure side, there was no other option to much of packaged food. Spotting Haldiram was a relief for at-least we knew what we were eating was good. They have a small snack and sweets shop at the 2nd floor. Their sweets range from Pedas to Barfis to Laddoos and Dryfruits. Their Chakli is about absolute favourite.

Located at the food court in Phoenix Mall, it's a good option for people looking for desi food. We tried Chole Bhature and will highly recommend them, the chole tasted very well but Bhature are okay as they have less khameer. We also tried Matka Biryani but won't recommend that as it tasted average. Their Shahi Raj Kachori was delicious, I highly recommend it. Staff is polite and service is prompt, hope they put a display of the number of orders that are ready.

Haldiram has become quite a name in the snacks business so when it diversified into restaurants, the expectations were high. I chose it over a plethora of options available in the food plaza of Phoenix Citadel. I must say I was thoroughly disappointed to realise that the food and management, both were terrible. I visited with family and ordered a raj kachori, tempted by the way it was dressed. It tasted so bad that I had to leave half of it. Ordinary street vendors sell far better kachoris in Indore. That thing was stale and hard shelled, without any decent stuffing inside. They thought they can make it taste good just by dressing it with sweet curd and sev. Then I ordered pav bhaji for family. It tasted well since it is difficult to spoil an easy thing like pav bhaji. It tastes good anywhere you buy. However our eating experience was ruined by the delay in serving. My wife needed extra paavs but you cannot get it on the counter. You need to stand in the queue, take a token and submit to the delivery counter, leaving your food mid way. By the time the paavs came in about 20 mins, the bhaji turned cold and the appetite was gone. The seating arrangement was super congested. And then there is this completely impractical cutlery. They give wooden disposable spoons and forks which are so difficult to use on idli sambhar, forget anything harder like kachori chhole. They are just good for digging into ice cream. We requested for steel spoons which they reluctantly gave too late and too few. Overall a cringe worthy experience.
