Travelling to Indore first time then as recommended by Google this is a must visit place. But this time it is under maintenance and was closed. But I got access to the museum and temple. The museum is small but gives an insight to origin and culture of Indore. As I love visiting historical places, I would recommend people to go once. The entry ticket to the museum is 10rs and it closes at 6p.m. I am eating it three as I did not get a chance to visit the palace.

Visited during early April 2022. This palace was under renovation and most part of was cordoned off. Small section is still accessible. It is advisable to postpone visit till completion of renovation work. PS : There are no entry fees.

I visited this place in Dec'21, and most of the palace including the front facing 7-story building is under renovation. Only one part of the palace which has museum and a temple is open for tourists. You would love to see what in there for us. A must visit place to know more about Holkar dynasty.

We visited this place on 25th December 2021. There was renovation work going on. Only first floor was open for visitors. We took more than hour to explore only that first floor entirely. You need atleast 4-5 hours to enjoy all the areas. All antique items are placed very distinctly and all related information is given there. What I like the most is devalaya of Rajwada palace. Different Shiv lingams, paintings of royal personalities. The art work on wooden piller is astonishing. As we visited this place in evening it was amazingly lit up. One must visit this place to experience the heritage , history of Holkar dynasty. Highly recommended historic place.

In Indore it's most visited place. The palace showcases stunning architecture and rich cultural heritage. There is not that mach crowd inside but in outside there is a famous market Rajwada Market and it's very crowded. Here entry fees is 20₹ par person. Here wedding shoots are allowed. You have to pay for any kind of shoot. On Sunday it is closed. It is open from 11AM to 9PM. It's construction started from 1747. In middle of year 1818 to 1833 it is completed. In front of this palace there is small garden also. With this garden it's looking very beautiful.

Rajwada palace is good place for those who are interested to visit at historical places. Before going to visit here, you need to check online, that it is open or not. Maximum persons are not aware that it remains close in weekend and public holidays. Overall it is good place, can go for historical visit.

Nice and well kept palace in the heart of Indore. Do not carry to many things as you need to walk some stairs. Perfect place to take pictures, amazing view at night time. But you can't enter the palace in evening as it's operational only during the day.

Rajwada Palace Indore is a lovely place to visit. I was unlucky as the palace was closed due to construction work. We could only see the temple. Nostalgic indeed. Would want to visit the place again. Ahilyabai s history is depicted through picture s in the temple. But not satisfying enough. I do recommend. Keep it in your list if you visit Indore

Beautiful place in the heart of Indore. The hustle and bustle of the market place is a sight to see. The palace itself was under renovation but the temple and the museum in its premises were beautiful. Very well maintained. The sculptures and the artifacts from the royal family are on display. So are the pictures and history of the Holkar royal family. A must visit for a history afficianado. The temple is open up to 8pm but the museum closed at 6pm. It is close to sarafa bazaar (within 1km).

Travelling to Indore first time then as recommended by Google this is a must visit place. Rajwada Palace in Indore is a remarkable historical site. The palace showcases stunning architecture and rich cultural heritage. Its intricate design and craftsmanship are truly captivating. The surrounding area is vibrant, with bustling markets and shops. However, it is important to note that the palace is partially restored, and some areas may require further maintenance. Despite this, Rajwada Palace remains a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a glimpse into Indore's royal past.

Indore city is mostly known for the Street Food. You get an amazing experience having food here its open till 2 am. Entrance of the palace looks stunning in the day as well as in the night also, The RAJWADA Palace, this place is located in very busy and crowded area surrounded by shops of clothes, jewellery, fruits, restaurants. Also known as Holkar Palace, it is probably the most beautiful historical building / landmark in Indore. We were awestruck to see the amazing blend of Maratha styles of architecture with beautiful arches, ornamental windows, columns, verandahs, and courtyards. It is very well maintained. The Palace also houses a very nice museum, giving a glimpse of Holkar's history and lifestyle. Could not see the Light and Sound show which is held in the evening... May be next time.

It's hardly 3 km away from indore railway station, As on now (dated 16/10/2022) construction work is going so main gate is closed, so you have to enter from the second gate. There is no entry fee for Rajwada Palace unless you don't go to the first floor where many historical war things are placed( entry fee only 10rs for this) , if you are interested in history then must visit for it. Also good place for photography if you want to post in social media😉.

Only able to see the Temple, Sadar Darbar & Exhibition of Holkar Family Trust available to visit. It was a public gathering place. Do not forget to visit the museum that is within the complex, but has a separate gate. The information about the museum or directions to it, are not posted, nor does the ticket counter direct you to it. But the museum is worth the visit. It costs rs. 10 per person to see the history of Indore, across time.

Rajwada is a historical palace in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It was built by the Holkars of the Maratha Empire about two centuries ago. This seven storied structure is located near the Chhatris and serves today as a fine example of royal grandeur and architectural skills. The structure comprises two parts, the first one located at the heart of the city and the second one standing in the old part of the town. Rajwada palace exhibits a blend of Maratha styles, the palatial structure is sure to leave you spellbound.

Very elegant, beautiful. The architecture is marvellous. It gets closed at 6:00 pm. So do go early

Rajwada Palace in Indore is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history and architecture. The palace is a stunning example of a blend of Mughal and Maratha styles and has been standing tall since the 18th century. The palace is well maintained and offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region. The palace has multiple levels, and each level has something unique to offer. The lower levels have a museum where visitors can see artifacts, including clothing, weapons, and other items that were once used by the rulers of the region. The upper levels have intricately designed balconies and are an excellent spot to take in the views of the surrounding area. The palace is surrounded by a bustling market area, where visitors can find everything from local snacks to handicrafts. The market adds to the overall experience and is a great place to pick up souvenirs.

Rajwada Indore ki shaan, if you are in Indore or if you are visiting Indore you should visit the rajwada palace. The palace is the time of the Holkar Dynasty. In front of the Palace there is a garden and a statue of Devi Ahilya is placed. While you are inside the palace you will get a good view of the garden from jharokha (window). Darbar Mahal is a big hall which can be managed better. On the front side in the 7 story palace you are allowed to go upto 2nd floor. Inside there is a wooden and stone architecture used. It will take 20-25 minutes to get a quick view of the palace. Currently there is a Rs 20 ticket for the palace. A parking facility is available by nagar palika on the back right side of the rajwada. Ek baar to visit Banta hai Bhiyaaaooo

The place is undergoing the maintenance. Ground floor of the open palace is occupied by Malhar Martand Temple and some photos and sculptures….. First floor is full of information about Holkar Family….through written banners, and other forms as well…. Many utensils from past time are available to see… It would take 2-3 hours to finish watching the things…. In short good place for a history enthusiast ….

The entrance itself is beautiful with lofty archway and a giant wooden door covered with iron studs. As one makes his way through the entrance, one is greeted with a courtyard comprising Maratha arched Ganesha hall, a number of balconies with Maratha ornamentation, windows, and corridors, surrounded by galleried rooms. The lower three floors are made of stone and the upper floors are made of wood. The existing building is rectangular with cylindrical bastions at the four corners. It was constructed in 1766 and later the southern part was rebuilt in the years 1811-1833 after being damaged by fire. The Palace was constructed by the Muslim artisans from Mandu who worked for the Marathas but sought refuge in Malwa with their families, These families lived in and around Indore and went on to work for several structures for the Holkars.Maratha Dynasty. Today it stands proudly with its 7-story façade of carved stone and wood jails, jharokhas and chattries. The front bay has substantial forecourt assessed by a large fenestration in the front façade. All activity within this structure has been systematically removed and now boasts of a small office of the Joint Director, Archeology and Souvenir Shop run by the Archeology. The rest of the building is ground and two floors. One side of the front bay has been destroyed as has the complete rear bay. The rear bay, before reconstruction was an empty shell with garden within, enveloped by the thick external wall with the bastions. The architecture is of the Maratha period & style. Planned with courtyards suited to tropical climes the Maratha architecture is known for its simplicity, visible visual logic & austere aesthetic, made rich by beautiful detailing, rhythm & repetition. The aisles & arcades, punctured by delicate niches, doors & windows create a space in which articulation of open, semi-open & covered areas is effortless and enchanting. The Rajwada is now state property under the Archeology who granted special permission for rebuilding the old wada (residence) which was the main Rajwada which was completely burnt during the 1984 riots, namely the building around the Tulsi Kund along with the temple that previously existed there, between the two rear courtyards. This building was to be rebuilt by H.H Usha Raje Holkar and designed by architects Himanshu Dudwadkar and Shreya Bhargava on the 200-year-old blue print using the same material & finishes, while adhering to the seismic structural requirements, mandatory today. The rebuilding was to be identical to what existed earlier constructed with thin bricks in lime mortar with lime plaster, with wooden columns with stone bases, rough black basalt flooring & a brick paved courtyard in tandem with the age-old building techniques. The only departure from the original building was a concealed ms pipe frame for structural stability in this earthquake prone zone a necessity to obtain relevant building permissions

Historical landmark and popular tourist destination of Indore. Construction was started around 1747 by Malhar Rao Holkar as his family residence. Most of construction of wood was destroyed by fire a couple of times. Building is mixture of Hindu, Marathi, Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. Inside there is a large courtyard and outside of front gate a garden. Entry by ticket. Parking space away from the building. Heavy traffic of all kinds around this place. Nearby bazar was also established in olden times and remains busy adding to the traffic and noise.

What kind of technique and architecture they have use ? It's great experience for myself ....And you must visit this Ahilyabai's Rajwada ( Palace ) of Indore , Madhya Pradesh..

When it comes to the Heritage in Indore, the whole city owes a great deal to the famous feminist 'Ahilyabai Holkar' and her family. The Holkars have contributed a lot to the city's development. Rajwada palace being the stronghold of their roots in the system. Currently, under restoration work, It is a masterpiece of Maratha Architecture. It has a shiv temple inside( Ahiliyabai's favorite deity) & the whole structure stands on multiple intricately crafted pillars. There is a courtyard blessed with lush greens in the center & the corridors comprise all the artifacts and paintings with historical depictions. On the first floor, a museum dedicated to the Holkar lineage consists of their daily items and tiny mannequins showing Ahiliyabai's contribution to society and a recently added room showing how the last to the Holkar lineage alongside the British, constructed the services throughout the city. A serene and sublime ambiance and quite spiritual too. Staffs are helpful and generous.

Pride of Maratha power, a beautiful palace of Holkars. It has been properly kept and maintained. It houses a temple of lord khandoba (Malhar). Written Documentary of Holkar dynasty provides glimpse of how they were pillars of Maratha empire till it sunset in 1818. Holkar Gallery is a must visit. Hosted on first floor, it provides more intrinsic details of Holkar functionary.

One of the most suggested places to visit in Indore. It's an beautiful palace inside. Half of it closed due to construction work. The Rajwada palace has two parts, a museum that tells about the history and culture of Indore and another one has temples open for all. The museum has a entry fee Rs. 10 per head, while the othr part is free for all.

: Majestic Beauty and Rich History: Rajwada Palace - A Must-Visit Destination I recently visited the Rajwada Palace and was truly captivated by its majestic beauty and rich historical significance. This iconic landmark in Indore is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the grandeur of Indian architecture and culture. Here's my review of the Rajwada Palace on Google Maps. The Rajwada Palace, also known as the Holkar Palace, is a magnificent structure that beautifully showcases the blend of Maratha, Mughal, and European architectural styles. As I entered the palace premises, I was immediately struck by its imposing facade, intricate carvings, and impressive courtyard. It truly reflects the opulence and grandeur of its bygone era. Exploring the palace's interior was like stepping back in time. The richly decorated halls, royal chambers, and ornate ceilings provided a glimpse into the royal lifestyle of the Holkar dynasty. The museum housed within the palace exhibits a fascinating collection of artifacts, costumes, and paintings, further enriching the visitor's understanding of the palace's history. The serene and well-maintained gardens surrounding the palace create a serene atmosphere, offering visitors a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. The attention to detail in the landscaping and the presence of historical monuments within the complex added to the overall charm of the place. The staff at the Rajwada Palace were courteous, knowledgeable, and eager to share insights about the palace's history and significance. Their passion for preserving and promoting the heritage of the palace was evident in the way they engaged with visitors and answered questions. One tip for visitors: It's advisable to visit during the morning hours to avoid the crowds and fully appreciate the tranquil ambiance of the palace. In conclusion, the Rajwada Palace is an architectural gem that transports visitors to a bygone era of royal splendor. Its breathtaking beauty, historical significance, and well-preserved charm make it a must-visit destination in Indore. I highly recommend taking the time to explore this magnificent palace and immerse yourself in the rich heritage it embodies.

Great historical background and the good example of Maratha architecture. A must place to visit when you are in Indore. The surrounding area is also vibrant and is a busy marketplace. Try to get there before 5 PM, because Google shows the visiting timing till 9 PM but actually it closed on 5 PM when we visited the place. It may vary time to time.

Not as practical as it used to be... After restoration many of the floors are sealed and I bet they have not really been restored. Nothing special about the palace won't recommend as a must visit place.!!

Rajwada, also known as the Holkar Palace or Old Palace, is an important historical palace in Indore that was constructed by the Holkars of the Maratha empire, around 2 centuries ago. An example of the fine architectural skill and magnificence of those times, the palace is an impressive 7 storey structure that is placed near the Holkar Chhatris. One of the popular tourist attractions of Indore, Rajwada Palace is one of the oldest structures too. The construction of the palace was started by Malhar Rao Holkar, the founder of Holkar Dynasty in the year 1747 A.D. This remarkable structure is placed in Khajuri Bazaar, right in the middle of the city. The Rajwada palace has the Shiv Vilas Palace on the right (New Palace) and faces a well-maintained garden that has a statue of Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar, fountains and an artificial waterfall

To be honest, nothing is there to see. The entry fee of palace for Indians is 20 rs. and for foreigners is 400 rs. You can go for one time but you will get excited to see around. Not much recommended. Thanks for reading the review. Many more reviews will come in upcoming days. Stay tuned.

Wonderful palace, don't forget to visit the attached museum. Average time of 45 minutes is required to properly visit the fort. The market around is equally good.

Palace is the must visit for tourist. It is a two storey structure simple and elegant. The history tells previously it was all made out of wooden structure but fire broke out and only half of structure is left. Most of the rooms were locked. There is a 10 min light show in the evening. The palace look stunning at night.
