We stayed at Hilltop Lodge for a fishing trip at International Falls, after our Airbnb canceled on us the day of arrival. Ryan & Amanda were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They sincerely wanted us to have a great vacation and were so friendly and helpful to the local area. They also had a fish cleaning area, which was convenient. The Lodge itself was exactly as described - no frills, but a good bed, warm shower, coffee, mini refrigerator & microwave in the unit. Grab & go breakfast was served at the front desk. Internet was sparse for us throughout the town, not just at the Lodge. Overall, we would certainly stay here again - try to book direct if possible to help this small business on the additional fees!

Stayed at the Hilltop over Labor Day weekend. The owners are very nice and accommodating. The rooms are older, but have been updated. Hilltop has a nice bonfire/outdoor game area as well. We were really close to Voyageur National Park and were able to see the Northern Lights there!

Stayed at the Hilltop Lodge on my way in and out of the Quetico. The rooms were very clean and the owners (husband and wife team) were friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely stay there next time through.

To be clear, this is a motel, not a hotel (thus, entry to the rooms is from the parking lot, not from inside a building). The rooms are small, but come with a mini-fridge and microwave, heater and AC, TV with extensive channel list. Breakfast is continental, so nothing hot, and the lobby is tiny, so you must eat in your room or outdoors. No pool.

Loved the cute, comfy, no frills accommodation. Also a big fan of the keypad entry system. Very clean, super quiet. Definitely would stay again.

Ryan and Amanda are awesome! They have created a warm and welcoming experience for their guests. They have paid attention to the little details that make it an extra special stay. They greeted us with smiles and made sure we had what we needed. The rooms were so clean, the beds comfortable, the water was hot and the shower had great pressure. The Continental breakfast had a nice variety for all. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Thank you for all that you do....we appreciate it.

What a great place! I was looking for a comfy place for the night as I was roadtripping from the Brainerd Lakes area. When I made the reservation, Amanda got back to us within minutes and thanked me for booking with them! Amanda reached out again the day before arrival with an alternate route due to construction season! Very helpful! Ryan checked me in and let me know to call if I needed anything! I did not need anything during my visit, but always great to know they are available! Ryan was also very helpful with a dinner suggestion, so if unsure where to go, be sure to ask either of them! The room was just as described in photos and words! Very clean, quiet, and comfortable! I really enjoyed my stay and were well rested for another day of sightseeing as I headed home! I plan on coming back again! Support local businesses! They need us like we need them!

The Hilltop was a great place to spend the night! The rooms were private and had cute video game themed decor! We really enjoyed our stay!

This lodge has an old-school motel vibe, but with nicely updated rooms and some convenient small appliances in the room to make your stay more comfortable. The Falls isn't too big, so you're basically close to everything and the airport. I preferred the drive-up motel character of this lodge to the more big-box hotels in the area. Plus, it made loading and unloading the car super easy when it was right outside my door. I got some nice recommendations from the caretaker for a daytrip to Fort Frances as well.

My wife and I had a reservation for Hilltop through Expedia. We drove up from Minneapolis during a rainstorm, and arrived around 10pm. The reception was closed by the time we got there, and only then did I find a line of small text in my booking email asking me to tell the hotel if I'd be arriving after 9pm. In my past experience, a hotel whose reception closes will call guests who haven't arrived to check in, and let them know how to access their room. In this case, we received no call, and found no information/key waiting for us upon arrival. I called the after-hours number posted on the door, but got no answer. Given that we'd just driven 5 hours through the rain and were desperate for a place to get some rest, this was extremely frustrating. Fortunately Expedia offered us a credit to book a night at a different hotel, which we did. I came back to Hilltop in the morning to try to make sure our reservation had been canceled, and again found reception closed. This time I did reach someone when I called the number, but this person did not apologize for the horrible experience we'd had, just said that we wouldn't be charged. This place needs to get its customer service together.

Our room was absolutely beautiful. Nice big comfy beds. The owner checked us in and was absolutely the sweetest. I highly recommend this place. Great price.

A perfect place to enjoy northern Minnesota and its natural beauty in comfort! The owners, with sunshine in their hearts, welcomed me and made sure that I had everything I needed in my immaculately clean and smoke-free room during the two weeks I stayed at Hilltop. I am impressed with the property and the business, which absolutely reflects the integrity of the owners. Thank you Amanda and Ryan.

Impromptu trip to northern Minnesota with our dog was made all that much better by finding this gem of a place to stay. Room was clean, comfortable, well equipped and large enough for 2 adults and a large dog. Great green space and amenities for your furry friend. When back in this area we will definitely stay here. Thank you Ryan and Amanda for the nice getaway!

We stayed here one night while passing through town and I was very pleased! The room was clean and updated. I really appreciated the big, fluffy towels! In room coffee was great, and the grab-and-go breakfast was just what I needed. Beds were clean and comfortable and price was reasonable. Definitely would stay again if I was in the area!

This is a find! Great value for the price. We had our own little cabin with air conditioning up out of town. Quiet neighborhood. The Cabin was clean. Friendly owners. Nice Breakfast available in office with trays to take to your room with more variety if you come earlier. Each cabin had two Adirondack chairs out front with picnic tables in the back and Corn Hole and Horseshoes available to play. We truly enjoyed our stay here on our two day visit to Voyageurs National Park. Would happily return for another stay!

We stayed in the Aspen cabin and it was fantastic! We ran into some traffic issues and ended up not getting in until very late. Amanda was so helpful preparing us for arrival since we’d be late. The rooms are very clean and extremely affordable. Centrally located in town close to pretty much everything! They were also extremely accommodating with lending us grilling utensils and even charcoal! My boyfriend, David and I both give this place 5 stars! If we are ever back in the area, this will be our place to go!
