Spent a week in Scotland, and The Mustard Seed was by far the best meal we had during the trip. It's a slightly upscale restaurant, but it still felt relaxed and casual. Had an amazing evening with friends over several bottles of wine, and then ended with desserts and an espresso martini. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in the Highlands!

This place is outstanding. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, very chic with fab views. The food is always fantastic. They use locally/scottish sourced produce, bringing in fantastic seafood from around Scotland. Food is cooked to a high standard, presented to a high standard and served by staff that are fairly knowledgeable about what they're serving and the local area in general. The food is pricey, but you get what you pay for. It's worth the bill. Booking is an absolute necessity. It's always worth chancing your arm last minute if you find yourself in the area but, always book ahead if you know you're going to be around. The only slight negative I can think of is the drinks are over priced. But again, you generally expect that when you dine out. High class city dining on the river, Definitely give it a go.

As we did our reservation, no queue time was needed upon arrival. We were seated on the first floor. Serving within 15 minutes upon ordering. We ordered from the early evening menu. £19.95 per person for 1 starter and 1 main. Value for money. Our meal started from the bread and butter. Mediocre. 2 stars Then come the Scottish Gin. It was very refreshing and tasted wonderfully. 4 stars For the starter, mushroom soup was nicely prepared. Fine and flavourful. 3 stars For the other starter, Pickled Rollmop Herring was fantastic. We never tried this kind of fine taste before. The fish portion was unbelievably delicious. WOW. 5 stars For the main, 28 day aged highland rump steak was out of this world. The steak was so nice and mouth-watering. The edge was a bit over-grilled and combined with the fat portion, wow, addictive and nonstop for us. It was so juicy and addictive. WOW. 5 stars For the other main, mixed seafood Risotto was super delicious. We never tasted a Risotto with such a high standard, others from Italy. The rice was so flavourful, and seafood was so fresh. WOW. 5 stars Ending dessert, ice cream on chocolate tart, wad a great ending of such a romantic and fine dinner. 3 stars The ambience was perfect. We particularly enjoyed the charcoal fire that occupied the main hall. Service was attentive Total bill for 2 persons dinner about £58. Value for money

I had their early dinner menu which was 20pounds for 2 courses - poached chicken salad and fish pie. The lettuce in the salad was fresh, although the chicken was too dry to my liking. The fish pie was very salty and the saltiness was quickly overwhelming. The mashed potato was very creamy and buttery, but I felt that the flavours of the dish were mostly drowned out by the saltiness and made the food less enjoyable.

📍Scottish HIGHLAND cuisine at its BEST @ The Mustard Seed, Inverness Boasting nearly 2000 Google Reviews, this restaurant at the Scottish Highland capital is a FAVOURITE amongst locals. Serving authentic European cuisine, the location is set directly facing the banks of the River Ness. ⛰️Michelle and I wanted to experience authentic highlander cuisine; this seemed to be the perfect place to go. ⛪I was wowed by the interior designs the moment we entered. What initially was a disused church was transformed into The Mustard Seed restaurant; a lovely open log fire dances in the middle of the restaurant, and the double height ceiling brought a sense of grandiosity. Michelle and I were attended to by a kind lady by the name of Sophia; service here was top-notch. 🥖We were served fine pieces of bread (complimentary) with Irish butter. The lunch menu was well worth the price; 14.95 £ for 2 course meal. 🐠For the starters, the Crispy Fried Cod Goujons were heavenly. True to its name, it was crisp, fresh-tasting, tender and piping hot from the fryer. Michelle had the Roasted Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Hummus, a dish in which she enjoyed. 🥩Then the mains came. Mine was Lamb from the exquisite Sunday Roast Special with mashed potatoes (they served BLACK Pudding. It came with pork meat it in, so I had to decline the pudding). I normally tend to avoid roasts as I often find the meat to be rather dry-tasting. This time, however, was the first time I had such a tender lamb roast; it was juicy, succulent, perfectly complemented by the gravy. I've never had better to be honest. Michelle ordered the Pan Fried Fillet of Scrabster Hake - good stuff, she loved her choice. (Michelle doesn't eat meat aside from fish) 😁Highland cuisine here is so authentically crafted, I would vouch for the cuisine here anytime. The experience here is a must, should you ever step foot in Scottish Highlands.

Nice restaurant with perfect location. Came without reservation and were attended to in no time and very professional. The service is outstanding, efficient, friendly and always with a smile. The menu reads very good, dishes composed with a little twist - above the ordinary - still excution not on the same level as menu promised. Wine selection was very good. Overall a good choice, with some potential from cuisines side.

We planned ahead to enjoy lunch at The Mustard Seed in Inverness…but had no idea just how excellent the entire dining experience would be!! Let me preface by saying that their entire staff takes great pride in not only their presentation…but the service and the quality of food is outstanding as well - and all of this while maintaining a cozy welcoming atmosphere. My wife enjoyed the Heritage and Tomato Peach Salad & the Pan Fried Seabass….I can’t say enough about the Tart & Cajun Roasted Chicken Breast. The food is “done right!” clean and very fresh …. Serving sizes are perfect and the pricing is very well done. Definitely plan to dine at The Mustard Seed while visiting Inverness.

This was the best experience of our trip. We were comparing all other meals to the meals we had here. The best thing is we didn't have a bad meal for the whole eight days we were in Scotland. By far the meal with the most flavor was the Wild Mushroom Tortellini. The cheesecake was some of the best I ever had.

Came for dinner with my wife on a very busy early Friday evening. Service was good and quick considering how busy it was. Nice selection between menu and specials. We had the special chicken wings, duck and the apple and cinnamon crumble. 3 courses, 1 cocktail, 1 Red Kite and a coke £98. On the higher end of the price market but worth the money. A credit to the restaurant scene of Inverness.

We went there for the early bird meal. We got a table near the entrance next to the licensing placards and the fire extinguishers (one of which was CO2 which in my country according to my limited knowledge is not allowed for closed spaces). Liked the food although the meat was a bit chewy. The service personnel were nice but it did take them some time to register our presence when we entered the restaurant.

We had a wonderful meal for my birthday at the mustard seed. There was a varied menu with locally sourced food and some interesting specials. The fig started needed more blue cheese as was a bit tasteless. The service was great until the last 20 minutes when we had to pay at the counter as we had spent 20 minutes waiting.

Late lunch with Chicken , orzo salad, garlic and courgettes. Followed by sea bass and steak mains. All delicious. Friendly staff , good wine and with a lively buzz about the place. Definitely worth a visit, recommend booking.

I had planned to have an evening meal with a relative but had to adjust my plans slightly. I dined alone, for an evening meal, and was impressed by the service: knowledgeable and friendly staff provided me with what I wanted when I wanted it. I am on a restrictive diet: gluten free and plant based. This can leave me with few options when dining out but I felt catered for, and certainly cared for by the staff who displayed an admirable amount of knowledge about such diets, by the menu offered. I do feel that The Mustard Seed can improve their non-meat offerings but this is as much a note about Modern European cuisine as it as anything else (I feel this branch of cuisine is about simple, high quality and fresh ingredients which can be a problem when trying to provide a protein source for vegans). Otherwise a very enjoyable meal, in comfortable surroundings, with excellent staff. Pictures: berry sorbet for dessert, root vegetable main course, sprout-based starter (unfortunately I did not note what the dishes were at the time and the Vegan Christmas Menu is no longer available for reference) and my drinks.

An excellent place with delicious dinner. We enjoyed the early evening dinner menu, where for £20 you get a starter and a main. Both for me and my partner all the dishes were excellent! The menu seems to change frequently which is a good sign. We also tried their desserts which were nice. All the staff were extremely friendly and nice! Giving it 4 stars for a few reasons: at this price point I’d expect freshly baked bread, whilst ours was a little stale; the desert plates were quietly distastefully decorated with very dated designs, which was disappointing given the price point; the menu included only the basic soft sodas, but it’s dozens of alcoholic choices - having some non-alcoholic cocktails and drinks would have been very nice. This place has some room for improvement but overall is worth a visit. Make sure to book in advance as it’s usually quite packed!

We liked it. They have an ample menu, with specials on the side. We were quickly seated and were able to pick an option from the early dinner menu and another from the specials board. Both entrees were very good and came quickly. Main dishes (both pasta) weren’t as tasty — a bit bland to our taste. Our waitress Eilean was very attentive and polite. Would recommend if you’re looking for a different dinner

We were squeezed in for a walk in table Saturday before Christmas. Despite being busy, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and never made us feel rushed. I had the beetroot, pear, fig tart to start. Lovely flavor and pastry was perfectly crisp without being dry. We both had the seafood linguine for main. The seafood was so fresh, plenty of it and the sauce was very rich and creamy. All absolutely delicious and very much looking forward to going back. We ordered off the set christmas menu with 2 courses for £15, I can't remember the last time I had such good quality food for such a low price - exceptionally good value.

Great food at the Mustard Seed. Staffs were friendly and the lunch menu was a great deal! Throughly enjoyed the starters and mains but not so much with the dessert but I think it was just a personal preference! Would be going back if ever in Inverness again.

The Mustard Seed is a great fine-dine spot! The vibe is awesome, and the food is simply amazing. From start to finish, it's a delightful experience. Highly recommend!

Mustard Seed offers decent food, particularly on their early evening menu with highlights like the black pudding and blue cheese bon bons. However, the service fell short of expectations, with the waitress appearing overworked and not attentive to providing a positive dining experience. If you're looking for decent food at a reasonable price, it might be worth trying it, but perhaps at a less busy time or with adjusted expectations for service.

The exterior was really historical because it used to be an old church. We didn't make a reservation but because it was still early before dinner they accommodate us. We opted for the early evening course meal of roasted breast of chicken and pan fried pork loin, with the starters of piri piri marinated prawns and crispy chicken tenderloins. The food were delicious.

We ate lunch at the Mustard Seed on day one of our first trip to Inverness, largely as a result of the many good reviews here on Google. Being the holiday season they were very busy with reservations but were kind enough to find us a table. We chose from the three course Christmas set menu and each course was absolutely delicious. The interior design and ambiance are unique and charming as were the staff. Special shout out to our server, Hollie who was delightful.

Salmon, Beef were great. Service was prompt and friendly. The recommended venison was tough and the owner promptly brought a replacement entree. Must have advance reservations as there were walk-in hoards turned away.

Very nice setting with good service and food. They offer a variety of gluten free options. I had the goulash and really enjoyed it, my wife had fish, and as someone that doesn’t often eat fish, she said she will be back for more.

You need to make a reservation before you get here, it's always booked. The food was great, nice ambience. We had the salmon with prawns and curry. Also had the chicken stuffed main course which was something different and a must try.

Wonderful restaurant, with outstanding food and service. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and executed perfectly. We loved everything; started with the mussels, had 2 mains with fish and a pannacota and crème brûlée. It was a perfect evening and best total meal we ever had in Scotland so far.

We loved our dinner here. Cozy vibes, good service. We had corn chowder, shepard’s pie, steak and cheesecake and it was all delicious. The soup was a highlight.

Lunch at The Mustard Seed was fantastic! It's their attention to details, like lemon slice in our tap water and splitting our one large wine order into both our wine glasses, giving us best available seat at the time of our reservation, and it was a joy to observe the team of service leaders working in tandem to clear & set up a table for 4 in such a synchronously flow it would have taken years of working well today to achieve such a beautiful state of flow :-) Food was divine and we highly recommend eating here! PS: thank you very much to the dear lady whom take care of our table, you totally made our day" we feel so comfortable" not been discriminate nor judge in anyway as a foreigner in town. Also super pleased to know you have committed 15 years to Mustard Seed, the owner is so blessed to have you in the team. Cheers

What a wonderful and delicious Sunday dinner it was! We went to Mustard Seed during our summer trip to Scotland and it was definitely among Top 3 meals we had there :) We ate three Specials (fish, mussels and gnocchi) and all of them were excellent. Just remember to leave some space for the cheesecake as it is really amazing (and not too sweet as they often are), and to book a table in advance. We will definitely come back when in Inverness again!

Decent restaurant. It is a set menu for lunch, and nothing I wanted, so had to ask for the kids meal. The pasta was nice, but nothing special. The dessert was also meh. One of the waitresses was a bit rude and at the end, when we were paying, she just took the card and tapped it, then threw it back on the table, without even showing us the machine. I wouldn’t say this was as good as it is said to be.

Two of us arrived at 5:30 without a reservation. Lucky for us, there was a no show reservation that the host gave to us. We had the early evening special of starter and main for 19.95. my Moroccan spiced chickpea and bean salad was out of this world. I followed with the delicious hake. My husband's corn soup and local rump steak were also marvelous. Great service, great ambience and great food!

We were lucky to get a table for two, and even though it was already 9pm, we enjoyed an excellent meal. The staff was attentive and friendly and from our table on the gallery we could see the whole restaurant. I liked the appetizer platter for two and was surprised by the spinach and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast. It kind of reminded me of cordon bleu, which I also really like. Since we ordered fries with it, there was no room for dessert.
