Very pleasant hotel with friendly staff We were given a "Pensioner discount & the use of a very nice suite (sitting room with microwave & fridge plus a double bedroom with access & seating on a large balcony) Good food, nice pub with wide-screen TV for the rugby test match!! Secure off street parking Best to request back rooms away from main road as passing trucks can be noisy Otherwise a very enjoyable overnight stop

No hot water for 5 days. Manager unfriendly. Owner never at the facility. Breakfast starts at 07:15, most people work at 07:00. Large trucks pass the windows of rooms 1 to 13, constantly making large noise, no coffee before 07:15 since there is no backup for loadshedding. Kitchen and bar closes 20:00, then all staff jumps in taxi and leaves. WiFi is only in the lounge, no WiFi in the rooms. Secured parking only for 8 vehicles. No porter to help carry suitcases up the stairs. Reception unmanned half of the time with reception working in the kitchen.

We had an absolute wonderful stay at Karoo Country Inn hotel. I was hesitant to book here due to the past reviews, but trust me when I say some are overdramatic. We stayed in the Suite and it was spotless when we arrived and smelled so nice! The room is very large and it has a lovely living room and large bathroom and access to a very private spot on the balcony. Positives: • Clean, large, dustless room (we checked the headboards, no dust whatsoever) • Staff made sure we came home to a clean room, fresh towels and restocked coffee cabinet everyday. • Bed was very comfortable and linens were spotless, crisp white and high quality. • Staff is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. • Safe parking inside. Negatives: • The restaurant is overly expensive for a small town such as Middelburg. • The shower was unusable due its poor water pressure so could only take baths. • We didn't have hot water for one night but the rest of the nights were completely fine. • No telephone in the room so no room service available. • Some maintenance required. Few of the lamps didn't have bulbs and the mirror had water stains on it, no hot/cold indicators on the taps. Small things like that. • No generators, but there was a loadshedding light in the room which helped alot. The hotel is meant to be old school and it only has old furniture in it, but it's beautiful and nostalgic that way. It's not fair to expect something that is 172 years old to be modern. Overall we had a lovely experience and will book again in the future!

Rooms are too old, bath equipment doesn't look too clean and it's a problem to be prioritized as a customer if you not white... we had to spend 2 days but we only spent 1 and went to another place

Fairly rundown and dated. Staff where friendly and helpful and we had no particular issues or complaints. The rooms are just very old and in need of a renovation.

No water, no kettle, no cutlery. Beggars hassle you as soon as you walk out the door. Some drunk locals were shouting ever Afrikaans swear word possible at 12:30 in the morning. Staff excellent, beer was excellent. Would I stay there again. Not a chance.

Not to bad... Needs a bit of TLC due the history n character of the building.... No halaal meals....eish had to use a bath.. No shower.... But survived...

Stoped for dinner, I had a burger and it was good. My daughter had the snitzel and it was dry and tasteless. The manager later removed it from the bill. The toilets were dirty and lacked toilet paper.

I would really love you to come here again. The place is so refreshing. 👌
