Izamal is a Pueblo Mágico in Yucatán. This is a great day trip while visiting Merida. Enjoy great food the local archeological sight and the church and convent in the center of town. Take a carriage ride and enjoy the sights.

It's a small nice town but it makes me sad seeing these beautiful horses working like this! I know it's a livelihood but we can do better for these animals. If you can walk use your feet if your tired ride a motorcycle!

A picturesque and a unique town due to its uniformly yellow colored houses. It's most famous for the huge convent built by Diego de Landa but the Mayan ruins that survive within the central part of town are no less impressive.

Our visit could have been nice but wasn‘t due to dishonest police. We parked our car at the smaller square and touched one of the red plastic traffic cones / pylone so it fell. We moved the car a little forward and placed the cone back where it was but a police officer came called by the passing by police car telling us we had to pay a fine for touching the pylone (which was of course just fallen, not damaged) of 500 pesos. Luckily we ran out of cash so we only got 200 pesos left and after a while and obviously talking to his colleagues he accepted. I looked up the fines for parking issues and of course as expected touching a pylone is not in the listings you can find online. This dishonest police guy ruined our experience in that town so we did not spend a single peso for anything. So for your visit: pay attention not to meet any police guy, it seems they are inventing fines even if you have not done anything wrong: it‘s scamming.

We went to see what we could with a wheelchair, lack disabled parking and wheelchair ramps make saying good things difficult. Doing this on a Holiday ment many venders were not there. The park appears well kept.

Beautiful town square to sit under a tree with locals and enjoy the afternoon looking at the amazing convent arches before you.

Nice, but very small city center, where all houses are yellow. It definitely have it's charm. But you don't need more than an hour, to walk cross through center in every direction. So if it is in your way, it's definitely worth to stop, but I would drive there just for this city.

Beautiful historical center of the city. Very nice and calm, quiet and safe. The convent is across from the main square. It's worth the visit!
