This restaurant in the Pueblo Mágico of Izamal is beautiful. Customer service is outstanding, the food is delicious and the portions are generous we came home with leftovers. The facilities are very clean overall it was a wonderful experience I highly recommend this if your in the area.

By far the best food I have ever had in Mexico! Amazing atmosphere and staff super friendly and welcoming. Just wish it stayed open late so with could stay there all night! Closed by 6:30pm when we were there, so it’s a lunch place really. So get there early to enjoy more of it!

Amazing Food, authentic yucatan food, great service. Gave it 4 stars on atmosphere just because it doesn't have air conditioning so maybe avoid on over 100 degrees Fahrenheit

This is a real, authentic Maya Restaurant. The people are so kind, attentive and beautiful. The food is very unique and beyond delicious. Go with an open mind, curiosity and an empty stomach. The atmosphere is so relaxing and calm. We have visited several times, and continue to bring friends from out of town to experience this magical place. Thank you for your authenticity, delicious food, and relaxing space to enjoy your beautiful culture.

Kinich is a great place to visit if you want to taste excellent traditional food from the region. Hearty portions of their meals, along with their fresh hand made tortillas, and refreshing drinks are sure to satisfy your palate. Service could be improved, as we had to call on our waiter several times to get some attention, but I'd highly recommend this place if you're in town.

Great restaurant, amazing food but closes at 19.00 (7 pm) so be early! One of few places where you can have a great diner in Izamal. I can recommend the Yucatan style beef. They also have the Yucatan Crafted Beer wich I had somewhere else before, best tasting beer I had during my trip!

I had a good experience here. The restaurant offers a welcome respite from the sun, especially after climbing the pyramid next door. It is on the expensive side, especially considering that it's a small town, but it is clean, roomy, and cool. We had Pok Chuk and Cochinita pibil, and they were both very good, the pok chuc was actually some of the best we've had in Yucatan. The candied fruit with cheese for dessert was interesting if not my favorite. The coffee was ok. Service was attentive and professional, though mostly in Spanish. Overall, a very nice place, a bit on the pricey side, but in Izamal, probably the most up to "American" standards that you'll find.

A beautiful meal, we tried Sopa de Lima and Almond Deer for the first time, absolutely delicious! The staff were lovely. The Deer dish was a bit pricier than the general Mexican dishes but worth it. The restaurant is very tasteful, a bit colonial. The toilets are clean too. Would eat here again.

Hello friends, Izamal, Yucatán is a beautiful & magical place. Its Restaurant Kinich is a must! I ordered Chaya empanadas with Edam Dutch cheese, a side of rice with fried bananas, Almond deer ( real deer meat) and Papadzules Kinich- traditional papadzules with smoked sausage from Valladolid roasted by firewood. For dessert, Hollandaise Cheese flan. Amazing Yucatecan food that serves handmade tortillas made by Mayan women! Thank you and many blessings.Giovani was our server! Doña Georgina Fech Moo directing the Kitchen. The restaurant has been in service for 29 years, going on 30 years in April 2023! Bill shows pesos and US Dollars.

Absolutely incredible experience. Being listed in the top 120 restaurants in Mexico in Culinaria Maxicana (Mexican equivalent to Michelin Guide) this restaurants surpassed my expectations. Respecting local traditions and seasonal ingredients, it pays tribute to its heritage. The insides are well decorated to feel like an authentic traditional space. It even incorporates a spiritual guide making prayers with artefacts and incense, two ladies that were hand making the tortitas that you then ate, and a semi open kitchen were cooks were preparing some of the food. I loved the flavoured waters. I particularly recommend the Chaya one, which you can have with lemon or pineapple. Both were great. If you order one, know that the pineapple one is sweeter than the Lemmon one. The food was incredible too, I highly recommend the Cochinilla Pilbil. Victor, the manager at the front desk, was an absolute gentleman. What a professional! Thank you to the whole team for making this an exceptional lunch to remember!!

This place is super tasty and authentic. Go with a group of family and friends so each can order different plate and enjoy different flavors. In my picture I am sharing the pok chuck.

THE BEST FOOD WE HAD DURING OUR TRIP. We’d been looking for some juicy Cochinita and this place hits the spot, the food was melting in our mouths and the flavors were exquisite. We also tried their Venado Almendrado, we’re quite hesitant but it was a great choice. Our waiter, Giovany, recommended it and it was the best decision. We had a couple of cocktails and the flan de queso de bola (so good that I couldn’t even get a picture) We’d come back to this place in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone visiting Yucatán. Giovany was also amazing!!

I went Here because it was recommended at several different places. They don't take reservations but they are really busy so I ended up waiting for an hour. Therefore my expectations were quite high. Sadly for me the taste didn't deliver. In my opinion it's decent food but nothing special. The atmosphere is quite nice. Add: of course i am Not Sure If it was because of the food but the Next day Infekt really Bad. And by now i ate the dishes at Other Places for less Money and way better taste

The most common and verifiable one is that the town was painted yellow to spruce up the town for a visit by Pope John Paul II, who came here in 1993. According to another version of the story, it was painted to honor an aspect of the Maya sun god known as Kinich Kakmó.

Great place in Izamal and good authentic food from Yucatan! The Filete a la Yucateca was the best!

A Mexican friend recommended us this restaurant. It’s was a beautiful place, the food was good it’s could be better if they add more veggies meal on a menu ( only one soup and one main cours)

Great authentic Yucatan traditional dishes with great flavor and beautifully presented. The vegetable dish with almonds was superb and the pibil dishes were outstanding. The service was a bit slow but the restaurant was absolutely full.

We stopped off here for a light lunch after wandering around Izamal. While the food and ambience was fantastic, we found our waiter, Martha, to be extremely pushy and verging on rude. As soon as we sat down, Martha asked us if we drank alcohol. I said normally yes, but we would prefer to just have soft drinks. However, she still proceeded to tell us about the special cocktails they had on offer. We felt pressured to order alcohol and she didn’t seem very happy when we asked for juice and Coke. When ordering food, Martha also tried to upsell us entrees to share (which I already said we did not want) and the most expensive dish on the menu (venison). She also asked 4-5 times throughout our short meal if we wanted anything else to drink, when I clearly said the first time we did not want anything else. When it came to paying the bill, she “recommended” that I add a 15-20% tip as that was “standard for their restaurant”. Unsurprisingly she had a sour look on her face when I told her I only wanted to tip 10%. Great food and would still recommend, but they need to work on their service. It’s too overbearing.

One of the best experiences in the Yucatan! This restaurant serves only local Yucatean food, so you wont find here any foreign food. Food is very tasty. This premise also has great interior and friendly staff. Prices are also not that high as for this standard.

Restaurante Kinich is one of our favorite places in Izamal, serving up traditional Yucatán foods like Poc Chuc, Papadzules, Queso Relleno and more. Make sure and take in the whole environment and watch some of the ladies on staff making up fresh tortillas by hand!

Izamal is a small town and therefore dining options are pretty limited. Kinich restaurant counts for the best in town, but honestly it's just average. It has a good location, 50 m from the same name pyramid dedicated to Sun God. Restaurant opens at noon, so we had to wait some 15 min which we used to stroll around beautiful yellow-white streets around it. The interior is very big and nicely decorated. Staff was kind, but with almost no English spoken. However, the food was just average - burritos with chorizo and pork chops.
