The food was good but it's a small place. It was hard to accommodate a party of 6, but they were able to do it after just a short wait. Employees were all very friendly, and the portions were generous. Our server was pleasant and kept the coffee cups filled. The grits were outstanding, with a delicious flavor that didn't need anything added. We left full and happy. Kids meal had a giant portion, and omelets are big enough to split.

It is Father's Day and we drove 18 miles to have breakfast with Dad. The time was 10:23am. We get to the door and there is a sign that says "no longer serving breakfast" We called to ask why and the lady on the phone said it was because they were full and they have to start switching over to lunch early. I know the past owner wouldn't have turned me away. Done

Breakfast food is great! Service good! But folks do not get the cinnamon roll, talk about DRY! you have to have a half gallon of milk to wash it down! Worst cinnamon roll I ever got! But if you don't believe me, Go and waste your money!

I’ve been here for breakfast several times. It is clear this is a popular choice. Over all the staff is very friendly and accommodating , with ability to give and receive good humor. This last time I came for breakfast there was a wait, no worries. The staff was bustling and turning over the dining room at a steady pace. We were there in time for Breakfast but seated after the cut off. They still allowed us to order from the Breakfast menu. While others were still coming in and adding their names to the wait list I observed a would be patron handle the hair of the hostess. The hostess barked at the lady not to touch her. I do agree that boundaries are important and the hostess is in her right to chastise the unwelcome attention of the older woman, however the manor it was delivered in could have been better. I really don’t know why people are drawn to touching others without permission. I don’t fault the hostess for her clear statement “do not touch me” but when representing a business I think delivery could have been better. We were sat at a table. As always the staff is pleasant. When ordering I chose a plate I have had before. I asked if I could have my eggs cooked differently than the description. The waitress acted as if that was absurd telling me that the eggs were scrambled up with the other goodies all together. I conceded. When my plate came that was not the case. The eggs and goodies were cooked and added to the plate separately. A bummer I would have enjoyed it more the way I had wanted. My side of bacon wasn’t delivered until I asked about it and brought toward the end of my meal. This wasn’t my favorite experience here.

This is the first time i've had a r bad experience at Hickory House. It was the first time I took my husband there to eat. His food was completely cold upon arrival at the table. My food was slightly warm but by no means hot. A waiter came around one time to ask if I needed a refill on my coffee, they have little coffee cups. They were busy and we were there for breakfast. But they're busy any time I'm there. And my service has never been like this. I was very disappointed!

Wife didn't order food or anything but did order a tea, but she was not feeling well and never even took one drink but they charged me for it. I had tea also so I drank some of hers thinking she would just chalk it up as a refill considering I never got a refill. Food was so-so and expensive IMO.

Great place with friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices. We went there for a late lunch and returned the next morning for breakfast! We were just in the area for two nights but if we lived in the area, we'd be regulars!

Lots of choices!! Family ordered steak, catfish, and fried chicken! Everything was fresh, hot and tasted great! Huge pieces of catfish!!

Texas Roadhouse used to be our favorite steak place. We found Hickory House about a year ago and we have been going there twice a month for a great steak dinner. We've dealt with Blake and Mike several times. Very professional, friendly, and very polite. The other members of the staff that have helped us in the past have also been very friendly, professional, and polite. Their steaks are the best. Very savory and cook exactly the way you request. We were in the mood for steak and went back to our former favorite place because it was a day that Hickory House was closed and it just was good, but not great. Good prices and great food. Well done Hickory House.

Old-fashioned, mon & pop-style family restaurant with a pleasantly retro environment. Country cooking done well at a reasonable price. I particularly recommend the chicken fried steak.

Hickory House Restaurant is a favorite place of mine for good food and wonderful owners!!! they take out the time to associate with you. The waitress are kind too and they also have good home cooked meals that I enjoy eating!!

Absolutely the best comfort food! We had a great waitress who really knew the menu and what was in the dishes. Food came out fast and was made to order. The chicken noodle soup was very wholesome. So of the good desserts was hard to resist.

Christmas eve morning. We a 9 person group. We had no problem with waiting for enough space to open up. Instead of letting enough space open up and instead of coming right out and telling us that they didnt want to accommodate us. They proceeded seat smaller groups that arrived after us. One after the other. We eventually took our business and our generous Christmas tip elsewhere. If you have a large family group... DONT bother going here. They do NOT want your business. Cracker Barrel will be more than happy to accommodate you.

Had their hickory breakfast. Bacon and sausage was outstanding taste. Little linger cook time on bacon to get crispness would of been better for me but that’s something I should of asked for. The gravy was great. The food was really good. Service was great. This is in Jackson Missouri just north of Cape Girardeau.

My food has been always been excellent. Service has always been great! I personally didn't care for a side dish once, which is a crowd favorite lol & it was noticed & promptly replaced, although I didn't mention it. Now that is great service!

Food was very good. My husband got the chicken fried steak. He said it was very good. It was huge, almost the size of a small plate. I got the grilled pork chop. It was really moist and tender. We enjoyed our visit.
