I totally love this Sunflower Mural painted by Brenda Kato and Mary Allegretti!! I happened to be in the neighborhood and saw this awesome mural and just had to jump out and take a selfie. It obviously took a lot of time and creativity to put together this work of art. I will definitely be showing off this beautifully painted mural to everyone i know!!!!

I have never visited.... But now I want to.... This is beautiful. Hopefully on my next day off I can ride the bus over. I am so excited for this. Up north they have murals on lots a buildings, it shows support for the community and beatifies the area. I can imagine even stopping into the building to purchase something......

When I see these sunflowers, I feel joy and inspiration, I remember Brenda and my heart becomes warm and calm. And deal is not only in her interesting, bright paintings. When my husband and I first came to the United States three years ago and did not yet know anything here, Brenda became the first person to participate in our life in Jacksonville. Juicy colors of her paintings charge with creative energy. The Sunflower Mural is making Murray Hill special.

I LOVE these murals!!! They're my favorite part of my commute home every day. I would hope a church would want to ADD to the community, not take away from it. 😢 Please don't take these beautiful murals away and leave a plain gray wall instead

This Sunflowers mural has given me many bright moments to many of my days. I enjoy and appreciate the emotions that this mural evokes. The feelings of fun, freedom and warmth spring to mind. To loose this treasure is would be a great injustice for the community.

The Sunflower Mural is a staple landmark in not only Murray Hill, but to the surrounding neighborhoods! We love how it brings immediate brightness and joy as you drive or walk by it. District Church, as your mission statement says that you, ‘exists to make disciples by interrupting people's lives with love because the gospel changes everything,’ is it possible that these murals and creations of art and beauty have done just that. They have interrupted people’s lives with love, possibly just possibly changing the very depths of a soul. This area welcomes you, truly! But will painting over and removing a significant source of love and light to so many bring connection and unity, or suspicion and distaste to the new community members you may be hoping to connect with. Something to think about.

This mural is an extraordinary addition to the Murray Hill community. Although Jacksonville boasts so many ultra-talented local artists, opportunities are limited for the general populace to be made aware of such. Public art enriches the lives of both those who view it as well as that of the artist.

I absolutely love this place! ❤️ I remember the day the community came together and help paint in this beautiful art work. Random people stopped for a bit from our busy day to day lives and helped make something so beautiful and vibrant. It was very special to be apart of something that is still standing to this day just as amazing as it was on the day we painted it ❤️. Something to have a great everlasting memory of the day that me and my family got to spend time together and help bring to life a very special piece of art 🎨.

One positive thing I can say, about “ OUR” city of Jacksonville, is the artwork painted on buildings, it is not graffiti, it is not an eyesore, and most definitely NOT A SIN !! This is art work by people that live and work in our community, people that have taken their time to beautify a space for us to admire and love, this sunflower mural is no different… When I see it, it brings my heart joy and makes my day filled with smiles, even on a rainy day… Brenda Kato painted this mural,a beautiful, talented soul that spent countless hours of her time to bring us a piece with tribute to Van Gogh, and yet the latest tenants of the building have turned the space into a church that wants to paint this mural over, not with another mural but a “Jailhouse doom and gloom grey color”😠 I DO NOT understand why !! #SHAMEONTHEM I am born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida specifically Duval county, and this particular part of town is extremely artistic and unique .. with wonderful shops, excellent eateries, theaters and musical talent, brought from all over the United States for us to enjoy which makes it even more special !! I encourage everyone to visit this site and enjoy the beauty of this mural for yourself, and let the community know that you would like it to stand….AS IS…
