The people of Pasayoor have errected a statue of late Mr. M. G. Ramachandran in loving memory of him. He was born in Sri Lanka and moved to India after his father's death. He joined theatres to earn and support his mother, later he became a popular cinema actor and a director of films. Using cinema he rose to a top level in the society and people made him as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu through democratic process. He is man with people in his heart. If any man or society is suppressed out of the way he will be there to support him or the society. He always loved the suppressed people. The people of Pasayoor have shown their gratitude to him by erecting a statue for him.

A very nice location to follow the daily life of Jaffna fishermen. Don't hesitate to ask one of them if they can take you to one of the islands opposite or you could swim almost alone on a beautiful transparent beach (~5000/6000 rupees). The Catholic church of Saint-D'Antoine is also a must, 100m from the statue of MGR

We went there since it is at walking distance from the place we are staying, there is not much to see, I wish they keep this statue and it's surroundings cleaner or I don't know if it was because is Sunday, but there was a lot of trash around.
