I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Sangupiddi Bridge, which spans the Jaffna lagoon and connects Jaffna and Kilinochchi districts. The bridge is part of the Jaffna-Mannar highway (A32) and has made a significant impact on travel in the region. Prior to its construction, the only way to enter the Jaffna peninsula was through Elephant Pass, which was time-consuming and often challenging. However, with the Sangupiddi Bridge, travel time has been considerably reduced, and the journey itself is truly breathtaking. One of the things that struck me most about the bridge is the stunning views it provides throughout the journey. The bridge is surrounded by the sea, and the scenery is simply spectacular. It's a very calm place in the middle of the sea, and you can spend hours here with a relaxed mind, taking in the beauty of your surroundings. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Sangupiddi Bridge is also an important piece of infrastructure for the region. It has greatly improved access to Jaffna, which has had a positive impact on the local economy and quality of life for residents. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Sangupiddi Bridge. Whether you're a local or a visitor to the area, this scenic spot is sure to leave a lasting impression.

🌉 The Sangupiddi Bridge is the longest bridge in Sri Lanka, spanning a length of 288 meters. It serves as a vital link connecting the Jaffna and Kilinochchi districts, crossing the scenic Jaffna lagoon. The bridge is a prominent feature of the Jaffna-Mannar highway (A32), providing a pleasant and picturesque road for travelers. 🌅 Along the bridge, you'll find designated areas where passengers can pause and relax during their journey. It's a serene spot amidst the sea, offering a tranquil atmosphere where you can spend hours with a peaceful mind. 📸 The Sangupiddi Bridge also provides a beautiful backdrop for capturing memorable photos. You can enjoy endless views and capture stunning shots. Occasionally, you may even come across vendors selling ice cream and snacks, allowing you to indulge in tasty treats while sitting on the benches and soaking in the magnificent scenery. 🚯 However, like many other lovely places in Sri Lanka, some visitors unfortunately leave behind garbage, which has led to some pollution in the area. Please remember to take back whatever you bring with you, as it doesn't belong to this environment. Let's work together to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the Sangupiddi Bridge. ✅ If you found this review helpful, please mark it as such to encourage more elaborate reviews that help others discover and appreciate remarkable destinations like the Sangupiddi Bridge! ☺️👌

Sangupiddy Bridge is a road bridge which is built across the Jaffna lagoon. This bridge notably connects the Sangupiddy village in Kilinochchi district with Karaitivu Island in Jaffna district. The bridge was inaugurated on 16th January 2011 and is one of the only two road bridges connecting the Jaffna Peninsula with the mainland. The Sangupiddy Bridge is part of the Jaffna-Mannar Highway (A32) and reduces the journey from the south of Sri Lanka to Jaffna by 110 km or 3 hours. From Jaffna travel approximately 24 km along the Kandy – Jaffna Highway and Navathkuli – Karativu – Mannar Highway to reach the Sangupiddy Bridge.

In northern Sri Lanka, the Sangupiddy Bridge is a road bridge that spans the Jaffna Lagoon. It links Karaitivu in the Jaffna District with Sangupiddy in the Kilinochchi District. There are just two road bridges that link the heavily populated Jaffna Peninsula to the mainland. This one is that bridge.

Sangupiddi bridge was constructed to connect jaffna lagoon and the Kilinochchi district. This is a part of Jaffna - Mannar A32 highway. This is the longest bridge in Sri Lanka. The bridge is 288 m long. There are some allocated places for visitors to rest and watch the beautiful scenery of the indian ocean. You can have an even better picture if you travel here in the evening.

Very nice bridge with nice views and small rest area to take photos and enjoy the never ending wind. Sometimes there are vendors who sell ice cream and snacks you can enjoy while you sit on the benches while you intake the magnificent view of Eelam. Take the detour from A9 to go in or out of Jaffna by Sangupiddi Bridge. Worth the view 👌

Its a bridge with water on both sides. Good location for some scenic photos. Should visit before the sunsets. After the sunset, its pitch black. Only few of the street (solar-powered) lamps light up after sunset. And shops around except a few shops on small trucks (those will be gone after dark)
