Easy, scenic drive with well marked route and tour stops. The battlefield was clean and well tended while keeping a natural feel. The roads and walkways were in good condition. The visitor center has a small but informative museum, worth seeing even if you have already visited the American Revolution Museum. Buy the CD from the visitor center if your vehicle has a player. Otherwise, you can use the app.

The town looked perfect. People were enjoying the beach and standing in the water. There was plenty of free parking. Nice shops and restaurants. It was fun driving around and through the neighborhoods. The monument was beautiful to look at and the end of the war of independence. It's worth going there and maybe staying overnight too!

Great visit! Would recommend the video in the visitors center prior to visiting the battlefield to put the sites in proper perspective. Lots to see along the tour route. Would suggest driving the route or biking it if you are in good riding shape.

Amazing historic battlefield at Yorktown. The scene of Alexander Hamilton's gallant bayonet charge to wrest control of Redoubt No. 10 from the British, and the vicious fight at Redoubt No. 9 in which French troops fought a pitched battle against the red coats. Easy place to drive and get out and walk around to see the field where Cornwallis' defeated army surrendered to the allied forces of America and France. As battlefields go, Yorktown isn't quite as tinged with sadness as so many others. Certainly many young lives were cut short here, but it wasn't in vain. The British fought on for control of the American colonies, but the decisive victory at Yorktown turned the tide of public opinion against the war in America. Two years after the surrender of Cornwallis' troops at Moore House, from which the redcoats and Hessians marched off the battlefield between lines of victorious French troops on one side of this road and the Continental soldiers on the other.

Personally, I find this park to be one of the most enjoyable, historical destinations I know of. With the combination of free and fee areas, easy access to picnicking grounds, fishing areas, a fishing pier and even netted swimming beaches (to keep out the stinging nettles) it is simply hard to beat. Add in the easy access to some great dining and it is a top destination.

Everyone should go here at least once. This is a major part of American history that has been well preserved. Along with all of Yorktown being free for public access. The Victory monument is way better seen in person.

We love it here at the Duke of York hotel on water street. Last visit was 15 years ago and we wanted to always come back. What a view, pleasant staff and great for Oscar our Boston terrier. Many restaurants are dog friendly too. Wonderful grassy area for Oscar to walk around.

This place is a historical monument to the foundation of the formation of our country, where men of all races and creeds gained independence and formed this nation. Full of rich, well-preserved historical information and artifacts. The interactive driving tour is amazing! Keep up the great work, National Parks Team! Thank you for the memories!

This one is less kid friendly (outside of the museum). You really have to be able to paint a picture to be able to keep them captivated for the Battlefield/ Battle portion. There is a Yorktown app that can be downloaded and will guide you through Yorktown and the Battlefield, which is incredibly helpful! The museum portion is amazing for kids and is somewhat interactive; it's definitely interesting. There are no bathrooms through the Battlefield, and the full tour is long! Be prepared! (-One thing that helped was buying the colonial hats and guns and letting them get out and pretend they're in battle at the different stop areas!-) We did enjoy it, and we will be back again when the kids study it in school!

We took the historic driving tour while visiting. This takes you to the major points of interest throughout the park. There are a few spots along the drive where it’s worth getting out and walking around to see and feel the history. It’s not necessary though. The drive alone is nice. It’s a well kept park, with nice wooded walking trails, and scenic views and locations to enjoy.

This place is almost holy ground as far as I'm concerned. You can feel it when you're there. The world was changing, the impossible was about to be accomplished and the future was unsure! My sister lives there and took me when visiting this summer! We took the loop around the entire battlefield. The visitors center was amazing! So much information, artifacts and history in one building. Very impressive! I'd highly recommend this to anyone in Virginia! The whole area is so full of early American History!

This is a drive through experience, in my opinion it was a little boring. You drive through and read the signs about what happened at different points along the path. But noting has been reconstructed and almost everything you get to look at is an empty field or over grown forest. The people in the office were kind and helpful. I much prefer the experience at nearby Jamestown and at Williamsburg though.

Beautiful area and beach. Clean well kept, lots of parking lots to chose from. As a wheelchair user being able to have a path to get me that close to the water is absolutely life changing 🙌 Thank you so much. I was able to play by the waters edge with my children and grandchildren. Can't wait to go back!!

Yorktown, Williamsburg and Jamestown are all included in this stretching national historic park. Very much worth the visit, make sure to take the colonial parkway and visit the sites on the roadside.

Get there by 10am to listen to the walking tour. She was amazing! The theater show was informative. The museum was very good! The road tour was so neat to see how the Yorktown battle played out. We walked where George Washington walked!!!

So much to do!! So many awesome, knowledgeable staff members! Friendly atmosphere and interactive exhibits! We loved all of it! Indoor museum with a guide, outdoor recreation of Native homes, the Fort and boats, etc. Highly recommended!

Loved the tour and museum. Great educational experience. We completed the battlefield tour, but had troubles finding and following the encampment tour and ended up getting lost and gave up. I downloaded the app, which helped a little- I wish they had guided us a little more. Some stops were not obvious as to what we were looking for. Great value, especially if you buy your tickets at Historic Jamestown for the package deal. Kids under 16 are free- it was an inexpensive outing for my family of 5.

Worth a visit. Visitor center is okay, but the driving tours are cool. Too hot to walk in July, but would like to come back

The 2nd point of the Colonial Triangle, the nearby colonial village of Yorktown is a mini-Williamsburg, with most being original structures. The day I was there, the ambiance was destroyed, as there was some kind of a local event taking place, and parking was allowed on the site. But still, it is a fascinating place to walk around in. A couple of the shops are open for business.

Great place to visit while in VA. Parking and driving around the battlefield is very easy and accessible. The visitors center and gift shop is very nice. The battlefield is well marked and kept. There is very little left of the actual defenses but they are doing good at preserving what they can. They continue to make improvements to the park to restore it to what is was like in the late 1700s. I will definitely be revisiting. Also, do not speed on the historic highway between Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. The federal park rangers will pull you over. We saw it happen to a few people who tried passing others in do not pass zones.

Getting to explore the various battlegrounds of the Siege of Yorktown and the Battle of Yorktown was a humbling experience. There are original cannons and mortars from the Revolution still on display, and the nature trails are gorgeous. It took us a good 4 hours to do the driving tour, and still walked a good 5 miles.

I was surprised to see how many of the earthworks were still visible after almost 250 years. The visitor center displays were a great primer for the battlefield tour, explaining how the troop movements and the ultimate defeat of Cornwallis occurred. The tour itself is what you make of it. Battlefields are, after all, not much more than huge spaces. It's up to the tourist to read the informative plaques and envision what happened. I thought it was well worth the visit.

Even though it was snowing, making the outdoor tour chilly, this was worth it! Enjoyed the musket demonstration and indoor exhibits. The exhibits and interactive kiosks were top-notch! Well done and informative!

An amazing experience to go back in time, see where the arms were mounted and trenches dug. Great driving/hiking tour! The museum is also fantastic.

Great spot to enjoy being outside. I like to bring my dog and 5 year old to ride her bike. It's not too hilly and you get to walk through where some serious historical events occurred. Some great views of the natural landscape as well. I would say it's low intensity for hiking

Strange to think an entire battle was fought and a country born in a patch so small. Standing on the fields and capturing the history and trying to get a sense of what happened is part of the adventure. Spent a great day doing the driving tour and next time we come will do it again.

Yorktown Battlefield was very interesting and learned a lot about the battle of Yorktown! The kids enjoyed taking the trolley in downtown area. The driving tour was interesting as well. I don’t know if they still do reenactment of the battles but that would’ve been a great experience. The staff was kind and informative!

Local Christmas lighted boat show was enjoyable for kids, a little short for the adults. There was a bonfire on the beach which was nice and free hot cider and hot chocolate. Also, great food trucks were available. The area is frequented a lot by my family and is always enjoyable no matter the time of year.

Was a much more significant engagement than I realized. Rangers are great, the small museum is really nice. Many walking paths and restored earthworks. The site was used for Confederate fortifications as well.

This is a surreal place given all that transpired in 1781 and everything since. You can get a true sense of all the history and if you listen closely you can hear voices from the past. Walking to redoubt 9 and what is left of 10 as well as walking along the ramparts is very moving. Highly recommend a visit to this historical battlefield.

Excellent park and walkable vicinity, with plenty of history, access to water, shops, beaches, a free fishing pier, options to park your boat or hop on a large vessel, free transit within the Yorktown vicinity via trolley, and even a massive American persimmon tree where I noticed a massive quantity of fruit ripe for the picking.

Easy scenic drive. The park ranger pointed out the 2 different routes and we went with the shorter one due to time constraints. The route was easy to follow.

I've been lucky enough to visit many battlefields amongst my travels, and Yorktown, may be one of the most preserved one's, yet. The earthworks are still extremely visible and in some areas of the battlefield, it isn't hard at all to imagine the events that had unfolded on these open fields, and within the walls of the town. It's an incredible experience to stand within these fields and stand on the ground in which our nation's independence was surly won. Surrender field, is by far my favorite spot of the battlefield and is my most recommended spot to see. Washington HQs, and crossing forging the streams with your car to get their is fun, too... While the battlefield itself is a thrilling place to visit, it could be more so, with a little more TLC from the National Park Service. It is clearly, one of the more neglected battlefields I've seen. Signage throughout the battlefield is damaged, and sometimes almost not readable. Navigation isn't fantastic, especially in an area that doubles as an American Civil War location, and, there's little monuments or markers to mark such great historic feats and locations. It's an incredible battlefield and historic location within our country that needs further intervention from both the NPS and General Public to continually preserve and share with future generations.

We loved this place! The museum inside was very small, but go to the gift shop and buy the $5 cd that will guide you through an interpretive tour through the Battlefield. There are signs that will guide you through. The area is filled with lovely trees. We also saw deer and squirrels.
