A very comprehensive and much improves museum from the past. The museum speaks wonderfully to the history of the Ainu people. What really struck me was the use of the Ainu language throughout the Museum's attractions. We spent about five hours there but could have easily spent the whole day. Last thing to mention is that you can get a rentry pass from the staff so that you can go out and get something to eat.

Very nice museum with so much to do. So many of the staff spoke to us in English and were very welcoming too. Other than the exhibition building, there's a theater hall, workshops, reconstructions of traditional housing and even a small library corner. The whole complex is quite large, with nice views on small hills and a lake. We spent there six hours. There are cultural performances, Ainu language mini classes, numerous workshops and theater shows throughout the day. Some of them depend on the day of the week, so it might be good to check the website beforehand, to know what to expect on the day of your visit. Right outside the paid area there was a cafe with meals, so it's really easy to plan a whole day here. You can ask the staff to give you a return ticket, so that you can leave the paid area, eat in the cafe outside, and later come back into the paid area again.

Ainu culture the indigenous people in Japan is very similar to Куrgyz culture. To be honest, I really don't get their religion or faith but I realized that I should understand the diversity.

The performance was good but as a big national museum is not good as some small Ainu museums. We set a year card here and plan to visit more times to learn their culture and experience Ainu crafts. But today we visit workshops, the staff told us we need to reserve and only Japanese can learn. I guess they can’t provide the different languages. That is really disappointing! But the sale points are workshops and performances. Hope they will set workshop audios or hire more staffs to develop.

To be fair it was a rainy day anf it was under a different name but when I visited 20 years ago there were individual stalls in two or three connected buildings with sellers offering their hand made products for sale. Sad to see it go.

I really enjoyed. Very nice and educational, and due to its integration into nature, a place you really want to go back to, not the least during other seasons of the year.

Great museum that focus on the original people of Hokkaido, the Ainu people. Comprehensive collection of crafts and even historical literature. Lots of parking and the surroundings are so beautiful. Also the staff was extremely friendly. Plus there is a great gift shop! Amazing!

My trip here got rained out, so I can only comment on the main museum indoors. And it was really cool. Most museums bore me but the way this place is organized does a good job of drawing your interest. You can't take photos in the museum but the stuff in there is cool. The restaurant and cafe out front have good food.

Beautifully made and designed. The content could be more creative, but it is a great overview of how the Ainu lived, what they ate, their way of living, and traditions.
