One of my friends suggested to try Toriton received lots of good Google reviews. I was like sure why not, then I realised how far out it was from town. It seemed so tedious to get there but surprisingly it is less daunting than it looks. For those of you who are interested to give Toriton a try, just head over to the Tourist Information Centre and asked one of the guides who will be more than helpful to assist you on how to get there. It’s literally as easy as taking a bus ride. 1. Wait at the designated bus stop number which services bus 70 or 76 (you’d need to ask the guide as the guide told us it used to be stop number 10 but hey moved it to stop number 5 recently) 2. Board the bus and enjoy the ride. Then get off at Kyokushin 3 jo 5 chome or something like that (don’t worry the guide will most likely write it down for you, if not you may ask him to write it out for you) 3. The bus so happens to stop right in front of the restaurant just across the street. So after getting off of the bus, just cross the street and you’re there. You can’t miss it. After the bus journey, I was starving for some fresh sushi. Unbeknownst to me, Toriton is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant and I only realised to my horror after stepping through the door. I’ve never been a fan on such restaurants and I doubt I ever will be. However, since everyone is there and eager to try Toriton, I decided to have an open mind and go for it. They have an english menu so it’s very tourist friendly and makes ordering a breeze. If you’re feeling lazy then you can just pick right off the conveyor belt. Now whether the sushi is good really depends on the freshness of their ingredients at the point of time when the order is made. The fresher the ingredient, the better quality and taste it’ll have. This is very true cause the 1st plate of uni we had tasted like it was left out for too long but the 2nd plate tasted more refreshing and sweet. Then there was the crab meat with innards which was pretty good but suddenly did a 180 with the the salmon. There’s inconsistency with the quality of their items and it makes me feel like a game of luck. Toriton is one of those passable restaurants which gets a 2.5 from me.

Sushi is overpriced for a chain restaurant. The rice is too hard and voluminous. A lot staff and chaos, but clean

Best sushi in northern Japan. Definitely suggest visit if you chose to Hokkaido.

such a gem restaurant for Kaiten sushi! I’m usually not a fan of conveyor belt sushi just because the freshness and quality cannot be compared to regular sushi restaurants, but Toriton is definitely worth the try! The squid sashimi with Yuzu was my favorite, along with a bowl of shio hamachi (yellowtail) soup! I had to try their sea urchin (being that I’m in Hokkaido..) but it was slightly disappointing as it was the most expensive on the menu but the quality was so so...it was not “sweet” at all.

V popular kaiten sushi store in Asahikawa. The daily recommendations are usually the best pick if you’re there. The tablet ordering system seems fidgety at first, but they are extremely fast to serve once the order goes through. It gets quite crowded and they don’t take reservations, so you may want to consider getting a takeout and bringing it back to your accommodation. (Although you will be missing out on their delicious ara-jiru) Card payment available.

Locals frequent this joint for their sushi and it's crowded. A lot of varites and I recommend their broiled blue fin sushi with brown sauce (yummy) and crab roe gut. Rest of the sushi are good, big slice of sashimi. Sushi, almond jelly and chawamushi tastes good. Expected queue to wait for your number to be called. Different season Different limited sushi .

Lovely sushi at reasonable price. A must try if you visit asahikawa. The big botan ebi is a must try, the staff is super friendly and queue is also manageable. Stop by the desert shop beside this sushi shop is perfect after.

The food is delicious, but it needs to wait for a long time and also the price isn't that cheap.

Excellent scallops and aburi salmon. The thick cut unagi was amazing too with great teriyaki coating and soft yet crispy unagi. The almond jelly was amazing too. They provide free flow matcha diy so do load up! The botan shrimp and akaebi were mediocre, singapore has better ones. Do mark this as helpful if you found it so :) Spent around 5100 yen for 3 pax, no extra charges as prices are net

I’m from Singapore, an equivalent meal for this kind of quality will cost SGD 150 easily. Over here it cost us SGD 70. Almost half the price. Amazing conveyor sushi, they do have other dishes as well like soba, ramen, rolls and dessert.

If you're after good sushi, this is the place in Asahikawa. The queue can be 1h long on weekends due to popularity but can easily get a table on weekdays. We come here every time we visit Asahikawa.

👍 It was a nice experience and I was really full after trying 3 shops of ramen. However, I think is better to only try these two 青叶 and 梅光轩(rated as one Michelin star). Personally I don’t really like the shoyu based ramen but it is a must to try for tourist.

👍👍 Had the shoyu flavour broth and it did not disappoint. Perfect portion topped by succulent slices of braised pork. An easy 5 stars from me and will definitely go again to try the shio flavour next.

👍👍 Really great shoyu ramen. Expect a bit of a wait at peak times (short line at lunch and very long lines at dinner). Gyoza were forgettable. Menus have English translations so great for tourists (though the crowd seems to be mainly locals).

👍 I'm a big fan of ramen and I got a tip from a local that Hachiya Ramen's shoyu ramen is a must try. I have to confirm... it's true. However, the architecture of the restaurant needs to go along with the "traditional" look of the street where it is tucked in to. It simply looks too modern while as t...
