Interesting, there is part inbetween the two caves where you find human bones scattered on the ground and a lot of coins as well... . There are not a lot of people coming here, so you will have the cave most probably to yourself. The latter part of the second cave becomes very narrow, so we stopped there and turned around. Oh and do not forget a flashlight, your cellphone certainly won't do.

If you’re lucky, you’ll run into the legendary grandpa (you’ll know when you see him) who will give you an amazing tour (depending on your schedule ~2hrs) of this cave system. It’s best if you can understand some Japanese but he can communicate pretty well in English and basic Spanish as well. Beautiful cave but bring flashlights (your phone flashlight won’t cut it) and watch out for the giant centipedes. P.S. the cave and legendary grandpa tour is free but don’t be rude, bring cash to tip him!

Best part of my trip to kumejima. Remarkable what you see in there. Huge cave. A kind local offered me his flashlight and gave me a detailed tour while I was just wondering around the cave by myself. A must stop

Put on the list!! The cave is super dark and has an opening at the end. Bring a flash light with you. The path is paved throughout the walking park <kids can walk it> but the natural rock formations are also growing from the top so watch where you are walking. It also is pitch black in the cave so you need more than a cell phone flashlight. Be careful where you step as there are urns with the deceased. The opening at the end is just breathtaking. Plenty of parking at the entrance. Free. No bathrooms or vending machines.

Creepy and unnerving. Bones fill shattered clay pots and more bones scattered through the cave. Kinda cool until you realize it's a pit of death.
