These tofu dishes will definitely make you full and satisfied. I had Yuzu (citrus)-chili flavored Mapo Tofu. It comes with rice, soup, fried mushed tofu("tofu croquette"), tofu skin("yuba"), veggies with mushed tofu, seaweed jelly("tokoroten"), and tofu chocolate muffin as a dessert. Boiled tofu, soy milk and miki are served free when you order set dishes.

I give this place 3-4 star, it’s highly known but doesn’t really live up to the hype. Old chairs and facilities, they dont even try. Their 5 types of salad that’s included in their special menu doesn’t taste good and we barely ate them. Don’t bother getting that set. We liked their rice topping very much enough to buy 4 packs of ¥300. Their blackberry tofu cheesecake and ¥100 donut are also a must.

Very good Restaurant. The Cost Performance is very good. I came here twice. Something I normaly don't do on vacation. The place is specialized in Tofu making. You get some free Tofu and Soyamilk. Actually as much as you like. Both are excellent, but don't overeat the main meal is filling. For me this was the best Restaurant on Amami Island. Most likely I will come again before I leave. Congratulations to the Cook who does a very good Job not only on Tofu.

We were recommended by many local friends here so we went and we loved it! Their homemade tofu was all you can eat so I would recommend saving some room until your meal comes as I was struggling to finish my own meal at the end lol They have many great set meals and appetizers as well:) Also this place was very spacing so you could have enough distance with other people:)

Fantastic! Not everything can be made vegan, only two sets can be made without dashi (tofu steak and a rice bowl), but it's still plenty of food, especially with the complimentary tofu/soy milk. Very creative uses of tofu of a wide variety of textures and flavor profiles. Filling portions at very reasonable prices. English menu available! If you like chocolates, get the chocolate tofu! It is flipping amazing, I can't emphasize this enough. The berry cheesecake is excellent, too. (I don't know if it's vegan)

Tofu all the way and it's delicious. But they have a weird covid prevention policy where they ask you to throw your chopsticks in the plastic bag but not the other cutleries.

Best restaurants ever in amami. All you can eat styled tofu, soy milk and miki. And so many tofu meals are here.

Habe never been a great fan of tofu before I traveled to Japan. Tofu here is aon a different level. Shimatofu-ya is one of the, if not the best places I have been for Tofu. Lunch Set meal is super tasty and has a variety of items. Desert tofu pusding is the best! Also reccomended the Agedashi Tofu (regular) - soy milk and rice drink as much as you can handle. Will be back! There was quite a queue and we waited for 20 mins, but we'll worth the wait.
