The photographs in this gallery were incredible. It is timed entry so make sure to reserve a time. There is a tea and sweet included in the ¥1,500 price (service ends at 2:30) and it was lovely to sit and relax with a great view of the glass tatami room outside. This gallery opened on March 12 of this year so they are advertising it all around the island. I think it is definitely worth checking out!

This place was beautiful, Hiroshi Sugimoto is a master at designing a particular mood and invoking a particular feeling you can't really describe without being there. He his work has the highest level of lighting and clean minimal design which is apparent here. Unfortunately, I came here after seeing his greatest work of art... the Enoura Observatory which was honestly one of the most beautiful places I have been. Because of this, I was already familiar with his work and it is underwhelming in comparison. If you have never seen his work before, you will have a great time and be incredibly mesmerized by his design. However if you have been to Enoura, don't expect to have the same level of enlightenment here. The included tea and snack was delicious and in a beautiful place that made the price of admission worth it already, so I recommend you go no matter what if you are on Naoshima. One thing that really bugged me was the opening hours. The best time to see the teahouse is undoubtedly during twilight/sunset but that's outside of viewing hours. The only time you can go is during the day when the sun is harsh and the lighting does not show the teahouse at its best. Wish there was a 6-7pm time to see it.

Amazing gallery, very arresting/powerful photography that worked well with Ando’s architecture. Just before the end of the exhibition, you can enjoy a complimentary tea and beautiful sweet baked good. It’s one of the highlights on the island. Definitely book before you plan to go. We booked a day in advance, just before the peak season.

This is, like the other major museums on Naoshima, overpriced for what it is: a small space with very few artworks on show. However, we visited immediately after the Lee Ufan and Chichu Museums, and by contrast the experience was delightful. The staff are friendly and the complementary sweet and matcha with a view over the sea would have been worth the fee alone.

Was not expecting to be so blown away by this island. A sacred immersion into the Mecca of Japanese-inspired minimalism. Breathtaking. I’m lumping this and the Benesse House and Chichu Art Museum all together. It’s completely worth the effort to get there.

It’s small but worth it as you get to chill and have free Matcha/Wagashi while enjoying the beautiful view.

Strange gallery with original works. The one that might be passed by is the long black series of panels in the hall after entry. In my humble opinion this is the best work. Sit and study to see the image within. Even the Post card of it in the gift shop got it wrong. The tickets include tea and a sweet.

I would not call it a Must see but definetely pay it a visit if you have time. His photographs are breathtaking. The tea experience was very pleasant and the entrance of the building covered with leafs was beautiful.

👍👍 The gallery is situated near Lee Ufan Museum, exhibits Yayoi Kusama's Narcissus Garden and artwork by Tsuyoshi Ozawa. You'd be welcomed by 1400+ stainless steel spheres. Hear the music the spheres on water makes. Little Buddas are made out of industrial waste dumped in Teshima island. Pick a stone f...
