Taka and Yuka were such great hosts! We came earlier than check-in time but we could leave our big luggage. Once we checked in, Taka gave us a tour of the house, a beautiful old but renovated house in a Shotengai. We got some great tips for the neighbourhood, such as some great restaurants, supermarket, etc. They even put our luggage in our room. Our room itself was on the groundfloor it, so cozy and surprisingly roomy. It's all tatami and you sleep on a futon (really comfy!) the bathroom was great as well, very modern but fits the room aesthetic/vibe! Really nice shower and toilet! It even has a small private garden. The Guesthouse is such a recommendation! Tucked into a calm Shotengai but yet 10/15 min away on foot from the Gion district and more busy areas. Great base to visit Kiyomizudera, Gion, Yasaka shrine and much more!

A cosy and quaint guesthouse in a small alleyway. The Japanese style room was really spacious with a beautifully designed vanity / shower / toilet area. We loved the common area where you can sit and dine with a view to a zen Japanese garden. Yuka and Taka were amazing hosts - thoughtful, friendly and accommodating. Other pros: The shared kitchen area has everything you need - microwave, kettle, coffee and tea, utensils etc. It’s also close to shops, eateries and subway stations. The room upstairs has a steep and narrow staircase (but they might have a ground floor room option?). You may hear the occasional noise from the streets. Overall, we love this place and will definitely be back if we visit Kyoto again! Thanks Yuka and Taka for our stay! ❤️❤️

I absolutely loved my stay here. Simple accommodations, but everything worked perfectly. Shower and bathroom were modern and had amazing water pressure. The real win, however, is getting to meet the family who runs this guesthouse. Location was also convenient and located on an adorable street and near a wonderful river walk. Warning: don’t stay here if you have trouble getting up and down stairs. The stairs in this place are an old style, similar to a ladder.

Absolutely amazing experience. Host was very friendly and caring. Went above & beyond multiple times to accommodate us. The location is near the subway and within walking distance of numerous Kyoto essential landmarks in a cozy alley lit by strung lamplights. Room was very clean. Towels & trash were changed daily.

Very cool building - a good mix of old fashioned with new, clean, private bathrooms! The location is also convenient. The owners are very friendly and speak English. I highly recommend Oki’s and I will definitely stay there if I go to Kyoto again. The stairs to the second floor are very steep, so if you have mobility concerns it would be better to book the garden room.

A quaint and traditional place. I echo the other reviews - warm and helpful host which makes your stay more enjoyable. We stayed in winter so indeed the few metre trip to the toilet or bathroom was a bit cold. Nothing is perfect and so a few points to be aware of to the prospective tenants: The tatami for sleeping is harder for some people to adapt and yes, the sound proofing is not like modern hotels. Overall though, a convenient place that is close to convenience stores, laundry, food, bus stop and river. The little girl is very cute and the hosts converse well with English.

This is probably the best airbnb/hotel I stayed in Japan. I stayed for 4 nights and absolutely everything was near to perfect. The rooms are very nice, clean, beautiful, traditional and cozy. It has a common area with a kitchen and tables. The location is excellent, since it is a 5 minutes walk to arrive to the central avenue of Kyoto and 2 minutes walk to the nearest station. There are many available options to eat near Oki's. Basically, everything was almost perfect, but the best, was the hosts. They are always taking care of you, giving recommendations, explaining things, lending you things as an umbrella, etc... in my case, they even gave to us a little bag with Japanese candies since we made a good relationship. Please treat them with respect since they are the best host I have known. You won't regret staying at Oki's, it absolutely worth it <3

We loved our stay at Yuka, Taka and Lisa‘s place. It was very spacious, clean and their ryokan felt like a holy place, and there is a common area for cooking, too! We truly appreciate the hospitality. ありがとうざいます!

The great Kyoto vibe of the hotel is just amazing. The owners are very nice and helpful. At the end they even gave us a small present. The Old town is reachable quick by feet. My gf and I are very greatful that we were able to stay at this beautiful place. It’s an unforgettable experience. Thank you!

We loved our stay here and look forward to coming back for our next trip to Kyoto. The Inn is operated by a lovely family, adopting a traditional design but with modern bathroom and toilet. Yuka & Taka’s hospitality was above and beyond what you would expect. It is in a great location also. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for somewhere to feel at home in Kyoto!

Lovely small guesthouse in a great location. Very accommodating and kind hosts who live next door. Even shared some fresh baked goods they had made for themselves one night! Would highly recommend.

Traditional Japanese house, very clean and cosy. The host was cheerful and extremely helpful - gave us a map and explained it bit by bit. She also spoke English well, so feel free to ask her anything you need. They got 3 cats according to their website, only saw 2 myself - friendly and curious Will definitely come back, highly recommended

This is a wonderful traditional Japanese Guesthouse, including a comfortable Kotatsu in the living room. The Host spoke excellent English and was very cheer- and helpful. She handed me a map with suggestions what to see in Kyoto and borrowed me everything I needed to visit a Sento in the neighborhood, including Shampoo, Body-wash, towels and a water-resistant bag. I recommend this Guesthouse to everyone who want to stay in an authentic, old Japanese Building in Kyoto.

Such a good guest house. I've recommended it to numerous people now because of how friendly and helpful the hosts are, and the overall vibe of the place. It feels very traditional, and has lovely heated blankets so you stay cozy warm all nigh!

Authentic experience. Amazing host. Location is ideal - close to metro and all the services you need. Walls are thin, so it can be a loss of privacy and noise from other guests but it is more than worth it. Common areas were a great retreat to have a drink and chat. Stayed three nights.

Amazing place to stay if, regardless if you are looking for a traditional Japanese living experience or not. The family that runs the inn is very friendly and are very accomodating. Close to bus stops and main food areas. Overall amazing experience staying there.
