We came here by bus. A nice place to visit. We bought some handmade knife as a souvenir. A lady named Ms Modoka help and gave us a ride to go to the Washi Paper Village, which situated about 3 km from Takefu Knife Village. So if you plan to to Takefu Knife Village and Washi Paper Village, check the bus schedule or booked a taxi to commute between that place. Very peaceful surrounding. Opposite Takefu Knife Village is Manyo Village, a beautiful flower park where you can walk around. Recommended! 🤗

Industrial shop with plenty of hand made knives for sale. I picked up an amazing paring knife for ¥5000 and got to meet the person who crafted it. It would appear that many of the artisans stop by the shop with their wares. It is definitely off the beaten track, but if you are anywhere in the area it is worth stopping by.

We visited yesterday and did the knife making course, which we had pre booked a few months prior. It’s an activity we really wanted to do in Japan and it absolutely was worth the trip! We visited while going from Kanazawa to Kyoto and just brought our suitcases which the office held for us for the day, and we just got a taxi to/from the knife village. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming and we had a translator for the day along with two trainees, all three were incredibly helpful. We had a lot of fun being taught by the Sensei to make our knives. He demonstrates and then you do it yourself so it really is your own work and you can engrave them too. Would definitely recommend it.

Cool place where you can purchase gorgeous handmade knives, learn about knife making (in Japanese), and watch artisans actually make product in a workshop connected to the shop. Prices are high, but so is the quality.

A great day in Takefu. We were able to observe the workshop from above in the free museum. The staff of the store were very kind, and we were able to meet Shiro San to our great delight. I have many knives from your makers and was a joy to finally see where they were all made. The 500yen taxi program at the main station makes this all possible as a quick trip.
