It was my first time watching Noh Kyogen, but since it was Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, I was familiar with the three-toed character, and I enjoyed watching it, wondering how that scene would turn out in Kyogen. It's not very big, so I think it's easy to see no matter where you sit. However, it was so hot inside that it was unbearable.

Beautiful Noh Theatre with Koi Pond

I visited for the first time to see the Noh Kyogen performance ``Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba''. There is a Noh stage indoors, and there are seats surrounding it. The last seat is like a half-box seat, so I wonder what kind of people will use it? I wondered. There is a pond outside with carp swimming around. I gave it 4 stars because there were pillars on the stage and there were times when I couldn't see them because they were in the way. But I can't help it.

I watched Kyogen for the first time. I was really curious about how they would do Kimetsu no Yaiba as Kyogen, but it turned out to be much more interesting than I expected. I was seated in the 4th row in front of the stage, so I had a very good view of the stage. All the staff members were also very nice.

5 minutes walk from Exit 6 of Imadegawa Station on the Karasuma Subway Line, opposite the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The number of seats is about 400. The seats are comfortable. The slope is gentle. The seats in the back have blinds and have a nice atmosphere. The lobby is not large, but there is a rest space overlooking exhibits, beautiful flowers, and a garden (including Nishikigoi). Some people were leisurely reading books at the tables in the back.

This theatre is keeping the refined Art of Noh theatre alive, in the certain lineage of Kongo-tradition. They had kindly accepted my reservation of a ticked online and even provided me with a program that was a key for following the plot. I regretted deeply not to understand the spoken words, but still could at least follow the intended spirit. This is a very special form of art, and even with some previous knowledge, it raises many questions. The suite of three performances really filled me with admiration for the skill, beauty and depth of the spirit of Noh.

Excellent form, excellent traditional value.

Quite a small theater. The place was extremely clean with a nice garden outside as well. Liked Noh a lot more than expected and enjoyed the performance despite some boring scenes.
