This
Resi
guesthouse
was
the
most
unexpectedly
disappointing
hotel
I've
stayed
in
during
my
travels
over
the
past
few
years.
I
don't
use
the
word
"worst"
because
I
couldn't
even
stay
there,
and
the
owner
refused
to
give
a
refund.
As
a
result,
the
hotel
remained
vacant
for
two
days
while
I
had
to
find
another
place
to
stay.
First
off,
there
was
no
elevator.
The
narrow
staircase
was
long
and
steep,
and
with
an
ankle
injury,
it
was
impossible
for
me
to
haul
my
luggage
up
to
the
second
floor
without
risking
a
fall.
Secondly,
the
room
had
a
musty
smell
and
was
very
dim.
I
don't
understand
why
it
was
rated
as
clean
online.
The
space
was
so
small
it
made
me
wonder
how
it
could
possibly
be
worth
$250
a
night.
The
service
on
the
Expedia
website
has
also
deteriorated,
failing
to
mention
that
this
is
a
guesthouse
without
an
elevator.
Especially
since
its
reception
is
located
elsewhere,
making
it
incredibly
hard
to
find
after
getting
off
the
high-speed
train.
After
check-in,
I
had
to
call
an
Uber
myself,
and
in
that
area,
Ubers
aren't
allowed
to
stop
nearby,
so
I
had
to
walk
a
significant
distance.
Overall,
we
were
scammed.
It
was
a
waste
of
both
money
and
time.
However,
Kyoto
in
general
is
enjoyable
and
worth
the
visit.
Just
be
cautious
of
guesthouses
with
no
standard
of
service.
