Great Castle to visit. When I was a boy there was a TV mini Series called "Shogun" and as a boy I would imagine myself actually there, and now as a grown up man I was there. Imagination creates reality.

Absolutely beautiful. The walk up to the castle was very hilly and tough but it was worth it to see the castle up close, the views from it, and the culture inside the castle walls. Also the gift shop is really cute and a perfect place to get a souvenir!

To get inside Osaka Castle is only 600 yen definitely recommend. Walking around the castle from the outside is free. You can buy the tickets the day of. There are a lot of stairs to get to the top but on every floor there is stuff to see so you can stop along the way. There is also an elevator but there was a line for that. The view from the top is great.

Osaka Castle might be one of the landmarks of the Osaka. This castle was built in about 1500-ish year, and have done through several maintenance due to burning, according to the history. The castle itself is very beautiful indeed. If you want, you can also enter to the castle by paying about 750 until 1000 yen, but I was not having time to enter the castle to observe the museum inside. So I just took pictures of the castle or Osaka-jo from the outside. You must visit this place if you are in Osaka.

good place. it worths to go and learn the history of Japan. Reccomend to buy the tickets online to prevent from spending too much time for the line. Here is long line to buy the tickets. Kid-friendly place as it is free of charge for the young kid. can enjoy the sakura blossom and enjoy the food in Japanese matsuri.

It's a climb up the castle and each floor has it's own historic exhibition and explanation. Osaka Castle is a significant piece of history. It's about 7 levels high and you will reach an observation deck for aerial views. There is a small souvenir shop at the highest level but there also a few more at ground level.

Beautiful castle. Nice surrounding grounds. There are plenty of beautiful spots to sit at and enjoy a picnic. The Lawsons here is small with friendly staff but super busy.

I would definitely recommend if you come to Osaka Japan to visit the Osaka Castle. It is so beautiful. The inside on every floor has beautiful art work and information about the castle. There are elevators for people who can walk upstairs too. To visit inside the castle it does cost money but about $6 only. I would give this place a five out of five.

Beautiful from the outside. Amazing views from the garden. The only reason it's not 5 stars as the inside is completely modern, the museum has great content. It just doesn't feel like you are in Osaka Castle from the inside.

An amazing castle! The entry fee is reasonable (quite cheap as it holds a great museum inside). The view from the top of the castle is very impressive and you can see far over the city of Osaka. The gift shop on the top also has some incredible items (some expensive but some cheap). The experience was long so you need some time to see everything in the museum but it was very interesting. A must visit if you are in Osaka!

It is a breathtaking restoration, but seeing the incredibly modernised interior is somehow quite saddening. Osaka Castle was felled several times due to battles and fires from lightning. It's been through several restorations; the latest following WWII, when it was restored between 1995-97, so it's unsurprising that its interior is modern. However, the walls built in the 1620s still stand today, which are impressive. The museum itself is pretty good for the price of 600¥ per adult (and free for children), but much of it is replicas and a lot of empty space. The dioramas and few incredibly old helmets (I think from the Heian period) are worth seeing if you're invested in the history and culture of Japan. I wouldn't venture inside more than once, but it is Hadd to resist if you're in the area anyway.

Great example of detailed workmanship with immense history and culture. The views from the 8th floor are with the climb up the flights of stairs (there is a lift if needed). You can book when you get there but can get on cheaper using online apps. It was busy but still not overcrowded and had plenty of time to view the artwork, videos, and architecture of this magnificent building.

Osaka castle is a nice historical place to visit. However it was very crowded (the day we went there were tons of school aged kids on field trips) Buying tickets in advance is advised if you can if you dont want to wait in line to buy tickets. The line went pretty fast, though, as it is just a kiosk that you walk up to and buy your tickets. It was easy and convenient for tourists because they had an english option at the kiosk. The scenery around the castle is nice also. There is a 20 minute boat ride you can pay for, but my suggestion is that you buy those tickets before heading into the castle because they will give you a designated time to come back for your boat ride.

2nd visit and this place still WOW me! Thoughwe can get the tickets online or from any other platform, we still chose to queue to buy a physical ticket to keep as memory! Crowded as uusual even on a weekday. Lots of tour groups and school kids. We took a stroll at the nearby park and rest at the souvenir shop next to the castle. My boy was super fascinated with the samurai suit try-on, with just 500 yen he get to try and a small picture for free. Definitely worth visiting

Good place to visit if you have interest in history... but be carefully don,t take younger kids with you cause castle is 8 story building with only elevator for going up till 5th floor .. and you have to come back by stairs no elevator for coming down. Better to buy tickets beforehand cause there are only 2 vending machines and usually a long waiting line .....

  • 5/5 Suzanne H. 9 months ago on Google
A historical journey with art work, costumes, stories and display of the castles journey through the ages. Beautiful gardens and of course plenty of vending machines. You can walk up the 8 levels (2 are air conditioned) or catch a lift to level 5 and walk the 3. The views are spectacular, even though they are netted for safety. Toilets are on most Levels. There is 2 small tourist shops in the castle. It was crowded when we went. $6AU. Worth every cent ;0) The building near the castle has many tourist gifts and a cafe, also worth a look!!

This castle looks like one of those in Japanese Ukiyoe paintings. The entrance fee for visiting the top is fine but the line is rather too long. I enjoyed sitting in front of it and watching it for 30 mins.

  • 5/5 Matthew S. 9 months ago on Google
While the castle is super neat, it is really a museum wearing the facade of a castle. The museum is very cool if you are interested in the Tokugawa Shogunate.

  • 4/5 Ben L. 6 months ago on Google
The castle is newly built with elevator inside. Great exhibitions on every floor. Great view on the top.

Similar to Hiroshima castle,it's a rebuilt castle that is purposed as a small museum sorrounded by a beautiful park and shrines. Many good places to take pictures around the castle. Unlike the Hiroshima museum however, the exhibits are fully translated in English, so you can visit and enjoy the museum exhibits.

It is more a musuem than a castle. Some helmet and armour as well as some photos and artwork. Explanation about the summer war of Osaka The abservetory was interesting. There was a long queue to get the entry ticket. But remember, if you have the osaka pass , you don't need to stay on the line.

Museum was fun experience but the line was bit long but the top view from the castle was amazing u could see the whole city. Fun

Osaka Castle is a must-see in Osaka! It's a good idea to buy tickets in advance to skip the lines. Inside, the new decoration might make it feel less like an old castle, but it's still worth a visit, even if you don't know much about the Shogun Era or Edo period. The history and views are incredible!

The information displayed in this museum is pretty interesting. Nice art and replicas are shown but not everything is translated. The castle itself is nice looking from the outside but there's not much to see inside except for the museum. The view from the top is alright but there might be better spots to see Osaka from a high place. Overall pretty good if you want to learn more about the place.

It is a wonderful arranged park and a very beautiful and impressively huge castle -from the outside. However, as most other "castle museums", you do not see any of the original structures inside, but only an exhibition of the history of the area inside a plain room. Could be in any concrete block or even a cellar. You would not notice a difference. The exponates are similar to other castles. The difference is the local history, and this is very well explained. Finally you can enjoy the view from the top. If you're interested in reading about local history, go inside. Else enjoy the sight and the park outside.

Lots of stairs and elevators only go to the fifth floor. Lots of fascinating history and that were, in the words of my 12 year old, 'pretty cool'. Authentic armor and weaponry from the time period, as well as miniature diorama depicting the battles for the castle and control of Japan during the Warring States Era. In short, it's a do not miss for any person with a passing interest in history.

  • 2/5 Andromino 5 months ago on Google
Not worth the entrance fee unless you are truly interested in the history if the wars. If your interested are shallow then the building will have little of interest for you inside. However I do recommend going to there gardens and walking around the free areas as the building are gorgeous to observe form the outside as most the interiors have been redesigned and modernised.

Stunning castle with tons of area to walk around and picnic. I’m bummed I didn’t time it right, the Sakura seem still about a week away from blooming and I’m sure it’s stunning when they do. The castle was easy to find and walk around. The tour of inside was pretty reasonably priced and they took temperatures at a safety check point before you could purchase tickets.

The castle was beautiful, it had plum flower gardens (its still winter time so there wasn't any cherry blossom trees) and big trees perfect for picture taking. Going through the Osaka Castle without entering the castle will be only 30 mins- 1 hour.

Huge castle with historical background. Enjoyed the trip. But need to manage your bladder as the toilet is only at 2nd floor. And going down is through stairs.

When you love the castle, Osaka castle would be the best place to visit. The greenish-white-gold color is so great, the park, the street food.

  • 4/5 Richard Y. 4 years ago on Google
The outsides of the castle is a beautiful park, and a fantastic place for a run. (And in case you're up for it, the perimeter is a 3.8km). To get into the castle is free for kids under age 15. For everyone else, it's 600 yen. Inside the castle, do start from the 8th floor, where you'd get a fantastic view of Osaka. Then make your way down from 8th to the 1st floor. There's not much to see inside, to be honest. It's all artifacts and relics of the shogun that owned and built the castle. But in reading about those relics and viewing it, you do learn more about the Osaka Castle. And you will be more learned than before you entered it. 😉

Easy to navigate and very historical. Instagram worthy place. It's like a place from that movie "Spirited Away". A magical place. I happen to visit during the autumn foliage, that's why the leaves' colors looks like in flames from afar.😍😍😍😍

Osaka Castle Museum is an interesting place to visit. Every floor of the castle tower has a large variety of valuable historical materials on display including the castle’s history and the life of Japan’s second “great unifier” – Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Visitors can enjoy the 19 scenes of Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s life which were interestingly put together using the very advanced technology of three-dimensional figures in miniature that moved around.

The Osaka Castle is a wonderful place to visit. Tourist friendly, easily found, and plenty to see. There’s a short and long walking/running path going either direction around the compound. I highly recommend touring this area. Make sure to bring Yen though because it does cost money to visit inside the castle area.

Nice place to see. Lots of people jogging , cycling and doing taichi. Castle is surrounded by water. One can see the city view from the 8 th floor. From 2 to 5 th floor is the museum telling stories about japanese kingdom.

It was worth the WAIT. It was a total surreal experience. Each floor display a history of iconic moments in history and is storyline as you climb each floor to the 8 floor.

Simple, informative and beautiful. I can't wait to see it at night with all the lights! There is a Set ticket to also go to a neighboring museum. Highly recommended!

  • 4/5 Jonathan B. 1 year ago on Google
Outside is really cool! The inside has been renovated so is not original but there's tons of original artwork and historical facts and information inside. To go inside it's about $6 (600 yen) each person, and the 8th floor has a great view of the city. Recommend!

Came in a Sunday around 3:30pm during the low season in February and there was no line to buy tickets on the machines which were very easy to use for foreigners. Was very nice and easy to get cool pictures. They have toilets in and outside. There were some floors where you aren’t allowed to take photos and some where you could. We respected the floor where they weren’t allowed. The view is quite nice but careful walking you and down the stairs as it’s quite steep and cramped.

Unique experience. Small exhibits. I did get to dress up like a samurai and have my photo taken!
