(Translated by Google) You can see the history of diplomacy with mainland China and the Korean Peninsula, and you can feel the history from long ago when Kuroda Kanbei entered Fukuoka Castle.

(Translated by Google) The Korokan Ruins Exhibition Hall is located in the corner of the Korokan Square, next to the ruins of the eastern gate of Fukuoka Castle. The Korokan played an important role as a window for foreign negotiations from the Asuka period to the Heian period, and from the latter half of the 7th century to the first half of the 11th century for about 400 years. The Korokan Ruins has a North Building and a South Building, and the Korokan Ruins Exhibition Hall is located at the site of the South Building, so you can see the ruins of the Korokan South Building. The building has also been restored, so you can see what kind of building was built at that time.

I visit this museum after visit Fukuoka Castle ruins. the entrance is free. You can learn the history about Fukuoka in here, especially about korokan. The place is cool, I visited this in summer, so it’s very hot outside. If you interested about culture, Japan, Fukuoka, this is a good place for you. During Japan close its border to other country, Fukuoka is still open to foreigner for trading. So, please visit this museum.
