Truly magical and beautiful place up on the hill overlooking the river. The trees and canyon around the house, the combination of traditional tatami mat rooms and wood floors, sauna, the integration with nature, the communication and flow around all the details was excellent. The location is up some stairs makes it feel like a mountain cottage. There are two different structures making it feel even more spacious than the photos. Great to experience traditional japanese beautifully maintained home! Will come back...

Lovely experience staying here. The place is really pretty and well equipped. It is fairly near to the train station. Do note you'd need to carry luggage up some stairs along the way. It has a fully equipped kitchen. We received many suggestions on amenities and places to visit while at Kamiichi / Yoshino region.

It was a little challenging bringing up our luggage up the steep slope/steps, so we would recommend packing light or bringing a duffel bag instead. Nonetheless, the beautiful view of the maple trees surrounding the inn more than made up for it. The inn is well equipped and we like that there is a supermarket and convenience store nearby. The host, Satoko was really kind and helpful in providing recommendations and assisting to make meal reservations (as we don’t speak Japanese). We really appreciate her assistance.

Beautiful stay in this old house with amazing views over the town and out towards Yoshino-yama. The host was very helpful providing links to plenty of places to eat and visit. The house is split into two, with the western style room and sauna in one, and the kitchen/bathroom/dining room/bedroom in the other. Be prepared to climb a steep slope and stairs to get to the property. Convenient parking space at the bottom of the hill available to reserve through the host.

A very beautiful Japanese traditional house on a hillside surrounded by trees and flowers, which is really sweet. We had a good taste of Japanese living style. Although there were some insects because it’s summertime, we enjoyed that the house is close to nature. The host recommended a village called Asuka, which we really love a lot. Only one small thing, the road to the house is a little steep.

Stayed from 10/30~11/2 had a wonderful time! (Please be aware that there are plenty of stairs so pack light or at bring a large backpack.) Great access to Mt. Yoshino (~10 min by car), and surrounded by beautiful nature quite literally on the side of a mountain. The owner Satoko had kept the place spotless, and even dropped by during our stay to set up the kotatsu in the living room. (Plus she shared with us yaki mochi for the nearby mochi store!) Couldn't have asked for a better host, and it was thanks to Satoko that we had a relaxing stay. Personal favorites was the full size kitchen, along with all the utensils and appliances you could need, and we ended up cooking every night using local vegetables. If you're looking for a quiet stay a little out from the touristy areas, I find it difficult to recommend anywhere else.

En Yoshino is up a hill, overlooks the Yoshino River and was beautifully surrounded by autumn colours during our time there. The property is well-equipped and clean; and the view of it amidst an autumn backdrop was stunning.

The climb up the steps to En Yoshino was a little challenging with cases, but well worth it. The views from the main and tatami rooms through the leaves, across the valley and to the mountains beyond are lovely. It is great to spend some time in a traditional japanese home, be able to self-cater and relax and enjoy the space and nature around. Our host was incredibly helpful with suggestions for local facilities and spots to visit. We especially enjoyed our trip to Asuka through the rural villages of Mezuna and Inabuchi.
