This place has an awesome vibe, and all of the tacos are amazing and authentic. They make the tortillas by hand and the cooks come out to serve you. What a pleasant surprise on this trip to Kumamoto just needing a Japanese cuisine break.

Impressive Mexican restaurant in Kumamoto. Such a pleasant surprise. It’s on the fourth floor of a building and not very big, but the food packs a genuine punch. It’s authentic Mexican food. The tacos were small but on point. I had the chicken and beef. The nachos were also delicious. And, the burrito is chef’s kiss. I’ll be back on my next trip to Kumamoto. It’s a hidden gem and not far from the castle.

I've visited here twice so far, and the food has been amazing and delicious both times! After spending 2 weeks in Japan, I really fancied eating in a restaurant that had a different atmosphere. La Catrina, located on the 4th floor, was just the medicine I needed. Very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere and delicious food! I had an assortment of dishes, tacos with different meats and some classics (nachos and guacamole). If you need a break from the norm in Japan, this place comes highly recommended.

(visits: 3) Three visits so far, and no doubt, this is one of my favorite places to eat in Kumamoto. I've been to the other taco/Mexican restaurant in Kumamoto, and both my wife and I agree, La Catrina wins. The other place isn't bad, but we prefer this place. The tortillas here are amazing. And despite only a single page menu we want to order everything on the page and everything is good. The service is great. The chef and cooks are awesome. Japanese, English, Spanish, no problem. Only two complaints. This place is small. You aren't going to be having work parties here. It fits about 14 people max. And that's max. Packed. And every time I've been they have been full. Best to make a reservation. My other complain is they do not always update their hours on Google. With the pandemic closing places was common. We would check Google, they would say special hours "open". We drive down there and there is a sign on the. Closed. That happened a couple times. I get it, you have to update Instagram and Facebook and tablelog. Still frustrating.

Great Mexican place up on the fourth floor. Atmosphere and aesthetic is great, and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. Food is really tasty and portion sizes are good, with some vegetarian options available. Good selection of beers too! Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere. The restaurant is located on the 4th floor. Not spacious but cozy. The food taste good. Had chorizo taco, chicken tacos were the best for me. Thy had fatty tuna sushi after taste which I like.

Found this place while visiting Kumamoto. The food here was great! I tried a few things while here and everything tasted great. I ended up eating more than I wanted.
