Best Mexican food in Niigata... must to try

I was introduced to El Mirasol by my friend and I couldn’t be more glad! We’ve been twice together now and it is the most delicious Mexican food I’ve tried in Japan! The prices are really reasonable and the food portions are so filling! Not to mention the husband and wife owner team are so lovely, friendly, funny, and passionate about their business and food! Highly recommended! 🤤

This is hands down the best Mexican Restaurant I’ve been to in Japan. You won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend any Big Burrito because they’re delicious. For desert, get rice pudding, and the Jamaica drink is good. The owners are very nice and always enjoy chatting in Spanish or Japanese.

Been in Japan for close to 5 years and have tried many many Mexican restaurants throughout, to include the Ryuku islands, and this is by far the most authentic tasting food I’ve had since being in the states. Taste was amazing and highly recommend for anyone who’s missing some good Mexican cuisine. Also the staff are the nicest people ever. I never write reviews but I had to for this place.

Really great place that I liked for two big reasons: The atmosphere is really well done, especially being in Japan. I think the vibe is very reminiscent of a lot of Mexican places I've been to closer to the US-Mex border with the lawn chairs and decor, so the familiarity was nice. The food options were all great. I got the chance to go a couple times and it was all good and pretty authentic. I recommend the hot chocolate

This restaurant, managed by a charming couple, serves incredibly delicious tacos with a homemade touch. Their elevated flavors and portion size make them stand out from typical casual Mexican fare. Although they serve two tacos per order, a single taco option could enhance the dining experience.

The best Mexican food I've had in the three years I've lived here! Fully recommend this place, I got the wet burrito with spicy pulled pork.

This is hands down the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in Japan. The carnitas tacos are FANTASTIC. There’s nothing in Tokyo that comes close! A MUST DO if you’re in Niigata craving Mexican.

Great staff and great food ! Californian born and raised I give this place 7.5 out of 10 . Pretty damn good Japan, much better then ARCO IRIS. My only complaint is, it's a little expensive, a wet burrito with a side of rice and beans is around 3000 yen.

Delicious! Some of the tastiest and most authentic Mexican food I’ve had while living in Japan. The restaurant is a cute, small family operation, and the service was fantastic- the waitress was super friendly. They have a full vegetarian menu which featured vegetarian options of pretty much everything from their regular menu. I intend to make this my regular stop every time I come through Niigata- absolutely recommended!

Awesome vegan and vegetarian options. Spicy, flavorful, good portion size, and tastes like legit Mexican food!! Love that they have refried beans and black beans. I have been missing those and good salsa, too. It’s colorful and so cute upstairs and the staff member spoke wonderful English and was so outgoing and kind that it made me happy! For vegans, they specifically asked me about cheese and sour cream when I ordered, so rest assured that you will have something delicious, filling, and vegan here. I wish we could have gone back more than once during our stay in Niigata. Make El Mirasol a top choice and let’s all eat tacos 🌮 and burritos 🌯!!

This was some of the best Mexican my partner and I have ever had, it had great spice and the owners were so lovely we had the best experience here. Highly recommend the burrito the spicy pork was amazing! Thank you for a beautiful meal!

The cutest, sweetest couple run this delightful Mexican restaurant, which features some of the best Mexican I’ve eaten in Japan. We were travelling through, looking for a good restaurant and saw the good reviews here. They were just closing, but our phones died. They were so sweet, they let us stay and charge our phones and eat while the shop was closed so we wouldn’t get lost without our phone gps. Definitely come for the amazing food, the home made enchiladas and burritos, but stay for the hospitality and warmth that makes it feel like home for a little while!

Was recommended by a Mexican friend, and it did not disappoint. I wished I’d had room for seconds as it was incredibly delicious.

Cute little restaurant. The burritos are the smaller side and the tacos reminded me of street tacos. I highly recommend the Chipotle chicken

As a gaijin from England, this is why I came to Japan! Small venue with plenty of charm, extremely friendly and helpful staff and beautifully cooked food. I had the spicy pulled pork burrito with a side of tortilla chips. The burrito was delicious and nothing beats home-made tortilla chips. The staff members I met were also very kind and clearly full of passion for their restaurant. I wish more places could be like this!
