Cozy restaurant with 15 seats. Friendly owner that speaks English and Japanese. Great vegan options! Delicious fresh vegetables and well-composed bistro plates. We loved everything we ate here, including appetizers and desserts.

Healthy vegetarian and vegan place full of flavor. The place serves a varying menu which is so good. All organic and non gmo and healthy. Would recommend 10/10. Cozy atmosphere too! Oh and the home made bread with Italian herbs is yummy.

One of the best vegan meals I’ve had in Kyoto. Pleasing to eyes and very delicious! It was opened during proper dinner time hours, which is a huge rarity for this city and a big big plus

Cozy residential cafe with yummy vegan food! All natural and organic ingredients. Ordered lunch set and it has almost 30 varieties of items, very nutritious and tasty at the same time. Love well thought details and flavors wrapped in each dish. Best soya milk latte I’ve had. Style and atmosphere is very homey and relaxing, away from Kyoto crowds. Would like to return and try some desserts next time. Many thanks for your great hospitality and food prepared with respect to Mother Nature, creativity and love, it is what I call luxury soul meal!

Pettirosso is a perfect, calm restaurant with exceptional food and kind service. I enjoyed finding this restaurant, a little off-the-beaten path and tucked away in a mainly residential neighborhood in the Kita Ward. If you are looking for a restaurant with high-quality food, a reasonable wait-time and serene ambiance, definitely check out this restaurant! It’s really close to the Kyoto Botanical Gardens and the Kamogawa Park if you want to plan an afternoon around this area. We ended up walking from here to the Kinkaku-ji Shrine after our meal, which was a bit of a walk but we also got to see the Obai-In and Daitoku-ji Temples on our way after we ate our lunch at Pettirosso. As for our meal, my husband and I got the lunch set here with the veggie cutlet main dish. Our meal started off with a delicious, well-balanced edamame soup. Then the main plate was served with perfectly cooked rice, a fresh greens and radish salad, a hearty stew, a seaweed and sprouts salad, a roasted slice of zucchini squash and a sauteed cabbage. Everything tasted really good and you can tell it was all cooked with patience and care. Pettirosso stands out in our memory of places we dined at in Kyoto, and if we ever have the means of visiting Kyoto in the future, we would love to come here again!

I had quite some good food in Kyoto despite being strictly vegan but that restaurant outranks all the others! Healthy, fresh, tasty, elaborate mix between Italian and Japanese cuisine. Everything was delicious, the atmosphere and music relaxing and the owners lovely. A pity I discovered it on my last night, would certainly have come back otherwise.

Looking for amazing vegetarian or vegan? Eaten here several times and thoroughly enjoyed each lovely vegetarian dish. Very flavorful and well prepared fusion of Italian and Japanese. We sat in the lower floor and the little upstairs. The owners, especially the husband Mark, who speaks English,is quite friendly and talkative. I plan to have dinner whenever I am in Kyoto.

The most delicious vegan meal. So many textures and masterful touches to each plate. The owner is a kind gentle humble soul, very welcoming and fun. Would recommend to all visiting kyoto, it’s unmissable. I can’t stop thinking about the soup!

Fantastic vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurant 🥬!One of my favorite restaurant in Kyoto. The food is so tasty and the dinner set allows you to try a lot of different dishes. The owners are a cute Italian ‐ Japanese couple, and their food reflects both of these cuisines. The restaurant is pretty small and comfy. The owners are super friendly. We had a great night here. Thanks 😸!

Food 5-stars, Atmosphere 5-stars, Hospitality 5-stars I chose this restaurant for a December 24th dinner, and it was incredible. As many reviewers have mentioned, the food is not only lovingly made, but delicious, and the owners are incredibly amicable. What struck me most was how much the owners care about the ingredients they choose. Many of the vegetables are locally sourced, and the fish that was on the menu the night I was there was caught in Maizuru, on the north shore of Kyoto Prefecture. Along with the holiday dinner set, there were quite a lot of dishes that caught my eye. Ended the dinner with an excellent cheese board that had a nice range of cheeses available to order, which are all selected by the chef who knows his cheeses. I was expecting the prices to be higher, both because it was Kyoto City, and because of the quality of the ingredients, but the prices were very reasonable as well. They also have sake/wine menus that is sure to match with any dish on the menu. This spot is definitely on my list to return to when I am back in the city. The location is also easily accessible for those traveling without a car. Highly Recommend.

Great friendly service, amazingly delicious vegan, chemical free food with a very reasonable price. The interior is warm, inviting and still very much in line with the Kyoto aesthetic. This is a must check out place!

Coming from Australia, I never felt so disappointed and discriminated in my life. I was in the area, hungry and looking for a good place to eat. I found this restaurant on google and decided to walk 20 minutes to go to this restaurant. Once I arrived there, I was really shocked to read at the front door that tourists and people that don't speak Japanese ARE NOT WELCOMED. This is outrageous and I never once in my 42 years witnessed something like this.

We used to go as often as possible when we lived closeby. One of the best Italian (and Italian fusion) food we had in Japan, and anywhere really. Great ingredients, great cooking, and great people!

Menu changes every two weeks based on local available vegetables and fruit and was so good!! Very fresh menu and was cool to see a rotating menu - the pasta and salad was my favorite! No subs, everything comes as is ordered

This place was such an amazing surprise. The food was delicious, everything tasted fresh and there was so much attention to detail. Lunch menu was $1,500 yen and the dessert $500 yen. 100% recommended!

Most likely my favorite vegan restaurant in Kyoto. Very fresh ingredients and very beautiful interiors. They also had copies of Amar chitra katha - famous Indian comics! Loved the unique dishes and the peaceful vibe! Do recommend reserving in advance

Very good vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Seats are limited so probably it’ll be better to reserve a table if you go for a dinner. The staff were friendly and spoke Japanese and English.

The chef prepared delicious gluten-free food, and there was a choice on the menu for a dessert. If you make a reservation in advance they can even prepare the menu gluten-free. My husband did have a menu and it looked amazing. The restaurant is cozy, gezellig in Dutch. Hope to visit it again.

👍👍 I went there for the children section and it was very nice. They have a good soft playground for babies/toddlers and my son had a nice time there. In the parents room you can give food, clean and take care of your child, but also weith and measure him. This so convenient.
