Very good meat, but for the price you pay I would expect more of the experience. The place feels very touristy and inauthentic. When we went I think about 90% were tourists. Also the overall quality of the dishes was mediocre and not very creative. The staff was very nice and polite, nothing to complain there. You get your own chef at your section of the bar. The wines they had were good. Besides the meat itself, when paying about 120 euros for a 150gr meat course you just expect more. More creativity, more atmosphere. The place is not bad by any means, I just didn’t feel like like I really was amazed or satisfied by the experience, which a restaurant should do at this price point. There’s better places to go at this price point imo.

Please keep in mind to make a reservation before you arrive. We were able to reserve a slot at 12pm via email, but were told that we needed to leave at 1pm to make room for the next seating. ⁣ ⁣ The crew greeted us warmly when we arrived. When we were seated, we were given a warm towel. They also assisted us in keeping our jacket. ⁣ ⁣ We ordered the 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝟓 𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝟏𝟐𝟎𝐠 ¥𝟏𝟖,𝟒𝟓𝟎 and the 𝐊𝐨𝐛𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐢𝐛 𝐞𝐲𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐤 (𝐀𝟓) 𝟏𝟐𝟎𝐠 ¥𝟏𝟑,𝟓𝟎𝟎. Additional ¥𝟏,𝟎𝟎𝟎 for garlic rice. ⁣ The chef was engaging and added to the dining experience. While the chef prepares the vegetables and Kobe beef, we were served a bowl of hot soup and a plate of salad. ⁣ ⁣ Meanwhile, they handed us the Kobe beef certificate, as well as information about the cow's biology and parents. I'm so sorry that I'm eating her. ⁣ ⁣ Among the two, I preferred the sirloin steak over the ribeye! While ribeye is quite juicy, it instantly melts in your mouth. ⁣ ⁣ Overall, it was a pleasant visit with them.⁣ ⁣ Fun fact: They only used female cows because they taste better than male cows.

Delicious steak dinner! I was excited to try the Kyoto location after enjoying the Kobe restaurant on a previous trip. The service is attentive. Our chef not only did an excellent job cooking, but was personable and made for an engaging meal. We had the steak dinner and abalone. The Kobe steak was prepared perfectly. It was served with dashes of salt and broken up into multiple servings to avoid a fatty overload. Dessert and drinks were fine to round out the evening. All this ended up came at quite a reasonable price compared to the US. Would recommend.

Amazing Teppanyaki experience! The restaurant partnered with a farm to produce special beef which is not certified as Kobe but is comparable in quality. Definitely highly recommended! We were lucky to get the private room. Even though it is located a bit of a walk from the main dining area, the service is very attentive. The set consists of appetizers, fish and of course the beef. The skilled chef and the premium quality ingredients made the night for my wife's birthday. And while not the cheapest, I think the price is worth of the quality of ingredients. So definitely will consider again the next time we're in Kyoto.

I normally don’t write reviews on Maps, but I’ll make an exception for this once. If you are planning to get Kobe steak while in Kyoto, this is the best experience you can get. Incredible service, delicious appetizers and deserts. And it’s a joy to watch the chef create magic in real-time. My chef was Tomoharu Watanabe, and I could not have asked for someone better. His recommendations, style and courses were top notch. Thank you!

This was the best meal I had in Japan. The food was prepared perfectly, the steak incredible, and they were able to accommodate my gluten free diet. Excellent choice if you are in the Kyoto area. You will be very pleased. They also spoke English fairly well which was very helpful.

Wow. This was an excellent experience from start to finish. The chef cooked everything in front of us a small amount at a time, meaning that every bite was fresh and hot. He alternated between serving us meat and vegetables, and paced the meal very well. We got the highest quality Kobe beef and it just melted in our mouths. In addition to the beef, we were served a starter of roast Kobe beef, a salad, rice or bread, a soup, a pile of vegetables, and dessert. The vegetables get cooked in the beef fat, and then the chef served us the crispy bits of fat left over. I don't normally like eating plain fat but this stuff was so good. The waiters are also extremely attentive, and the restaurant is quiet and beautiful.

This restaurant is beyond decadent. The steak, paired with perfectly grilled vegetables, melted in my mouth. The staff is attentive and enthusiastic, creating a lovely experience for me and my family. The atmosphere and interior design of the restaurant adds to the aestically pleasing and brilliant culinary experience.

Amazing dining experience! We were so lucky that there was a cancellation when we walked in. Chef Kawai has 34 years of experience. He’s like an artist in this cooking show and super friendly as well. We had foie gras, A5 Kobe beef fillet and sirloin. All just melted in the mouth. The grilled sweet potato and garlic fried rice were big surprises and were very tasty. We made another reservation right after the meal. Highly recommend!

With my limited understanding of the Kobe Beef culture and the process of its preparation.. I daresay this is one of the best tasting steak I've had in Japan... ever. I've paid exorbitant prices for other "A5" grade kobe beef elsewhere but I find the quality of the steak and the overall experience here worth it for its price point. It's best to make reservations ahead of schedule. And even then, not all slots are available. I also doubt they take walk ins.

The food was very tasty especially the Kobe beef steak. The service is top-notch and the attention to detail was amazing. The highlight was the teppanyaki cooking right in front of you. A bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it. The best time to go would be during Lunch time when the menu price is considerably lower when compared to the Dinner menu.

You will eat the best beef of your life here. It was a top-notch experience, excellent to the very last detail. The Kobe beef fillet was carefully cooked and it was just amazing. No steak I've ever eaten comes close to it. On top of this, the grilled vegetables were incredible. You can also get fish and prawns here, which is a nice touch for people who don't eat meat, and the fish of course was amazingly cooked as well. The service is fantastic, and the chef was very attentive and friendly. It's expensive as all Kobe beef restaurants, but definitely worth the price. Book well in advance on their website.

Amazing recommendation for a Teppanyaki place for dinner! We got to seat at the private area rather than the shared table (thanks to the hotel concierge). It can seat up to a party of 4 so you might want to request for this venue at your own expense. Overall, the dinner was sumptuous and the beef was melt in your mouth! The restaurant is located in the Gion area so it’s easily accessible and the pace of the dinner was just right, taking around 2 hours to complete. Go for the course meal because it’s just more worth it (price wise) and the scallop appetizer was delicious! You get an option of various beef cuts ranking from 14,000¥ up to 27,000¥ depending on the weight ( up to 200grams for the set). Definitely need to make a reservation so do book before making your way down. The chef is friendly and speaks English as well which is a bonus. Enjoy!

Best food experience I have ever had! Can't remember having a steak this good before coming here. Besides the delicious food, I also loved how the chef prepared the food in front of you in the most delicate and passionate way possible, was a pleasure to see it and also made the experience better. All the the staff were extremely friendly and gave a wonderful service, I can not recommend this place enough.

Definitely one of the most exquisite Kobe beef cuisine in Kyoto. Ingredients were fresh and of the top quality. The beef was just to die for. Service was impeccable, it was a wonderful experience that worth the price tag.

A restaurant we found when searching for Kobe beef. When we tried to have an early dinner, it was already fully booked. So I tried to to make a reservation for the day after and got us a slot for 2.30 pm. It was worth the wait and every dish wowed us. The seasonal salad was amazing with ice plant leaves, that I’ve never tried before. All grilled vegetables were delicious. No question about the beef fillet that melts in your mouth. We ordered the Kobe beef set & beef fillet set.

Kobe beef in Gion, not far from the town of Kobe. Its claim to fame is of course the certified Kobe Beef. Perhaps the most expensive meal I paid in Japan, but it only deserves the second runner-up spot. The dining environment; the Teppanyaki equipment, and the service was impeccable. However, when the main course was served, I was not too excited with the over marbling of the prime Kobe sirloin. It is recommended to eat it with a small slice of browned garlic, and a dap of wasabi. To me, It totally marred the natural favor of the 🥩. This may be the last time I am paying for this meal.

I was here for Valentine’s Day with my wife, and we had a great time! Needless to say, the beef is exceptional. However, I was most impressed with the quality of service and showmanship presented by the waiters and chef. It’s very entertaining to watch the food be made in front of you, from raw ingredients all the way to the final plating. Meanwhile the waitress was prompt and helpful with good English. Besides just the beef, other dishes were also delicious, especially the grilled sweet potato, the pumpkin soup, and the duck breast.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. When you purchase your entree it's not just the entree but a full course meal. The soup, salad, two appetizers were great. Last but not least the Kobe beef combined with the salt crystals from Hyogo and real Wasabi was unlike anything I've ever tasted. Highly recommend. Also the staff was super accommodating.

I can confidently say that this is the best Kobe beef restaurant in Kyoto. The soft texture and savory aroma of Kobe beef is wonderful. If you order any beef, the set is included, and in my case, grilled sea bream fish, various grilled vegetables, grilled mushrooms, salad, beef tataki, pumpkin porridge, dessert, and rice (bread) were all included. The great food skills and manners of the chef who focused on our table right across the table were really impressive, and kindness. All was great, However you should be prepared to pay expensively to enjoy all this.

Excellent. We had the Kobe ribeye A-5 cut, medium rare. The recommended style by which one may enjoy this culinary journey involved combining the meat with salt, pepper, wasabi, and fried crispy garlic. The flavor was delectable. Crunchy, with some heat from the wasabi. Salty, but buttery smooth. The experience is heavenly. Close your eyes and enjoy the savory climax with each bite. It's expensive, but it's worth it.

The food, the service. Everything was outstanding. My brother booked this for us as a present for mine and my husband's honeymoon trip. A lot of reviews here praise the quality of the meal and I don't think I can say much more. Some complain that this is mainly focused on tourists, but let's be frank, we are tourists! It is not a cheap experience, but absolutely worth it. The service was great and chef Tsuyoshi Kawai made us comfortable in this new experience. Absolutely recommended!

Loved this restaurant! Great choice of beef. If you are in Kyoto and near Gion district then I would suggest you should try this place! Just can't go wrong. And after you are done with your meal? You can take a walk around the famous Gion district. Back to talking about the restaurant. From the start of the meal!? To the wine selection and all the way to the finish of the meal! Excellent. Highly highly recommend this place.

Had Kobe and Wagyu steaks and both were to die for! Other than the meat quality the care, precision and love that your chef puts into making the dishes is just so admirable. Each couple gets their own chef that cooks everything in front of you. It's pricy but 100% worth it.

A great way to experience Kobe beef in a clean, modern, luxurious atmosphere with attentive service and personal chefs (1 chef per 2 people). Would highly recommend to anyone looking to try Kobe beef. I personally liked the rump better than the premium A5 sirloin, which I found too fatty for my liking. That said the A5 is a must try if you haven't had A5 beef before.

I had the honor of eating in this restaurant in August, during my trip in Japan. I got the full menu (260 euros) including appetizers, kobe beaf and dessert. The meat is prepared by a chef (One for each reservation) who explains all the steps that are taken. An experience to do at least once in your life, recommended!

  • 5/5 Ryan B. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely incredible. Hands down best beef I have ever had. Besides the meat, all the staff is extremely friendly, professional, and considerate. Our chef was amazing and made great suggestions on how best to enjoy the meat without being too pushy. We came for lunch with no reservations and had no problems getting in.

  • 5/5 Brian L. 4 years ago on Google
Great courteous staff, with attentive service. The chef, Eguchi san, was really friendly and talkative, and suggested a few places I could visit after lunch. The Kobe beef was, of course, spectacular, and melted in my mouth.

Got lucky with a last minute dinner reservation and was super excited to try the famous kobe beef. My girlfriend and i were actually given our own private room which was beautiful and very special. Service was extremely attentive and our chef was great (he told us he has been a chef for 40 years!) Now on to the food: we got both of the highest quality meats you could get and it was honestly a let down. I had undeniably better Kobe at a 24 hour stand in Tsukiji Market for much less money. The fish we added wasn’t bad but the other dishes in the set were meh. Dessert was tasteless. Still kind of hungry after the meal also. Wouldn’t come back, but no regrets due to the private room & chef. Go somewhere else if you just want good meat, come here if you want good service, decent food and the private chef experience.

  • 4/5 Alvaro C. 4 months ago on Google
The place has a really chilling and beautiful Atmosphere, the service is simply perfect, during my honey moon in Japan this was the place with the best service and attention. The food was amazing, it can quite pricey, this was the most expensive dinner that I have ever paid and I can’t say it was the tastiest or most incredible, there were some other restaurants quite less expensive that had A5 waygu and literally half price. If you want a really good experience and fancy dinner this is the perfect place.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Chef Kawai was fantastic, friendly and professional. The service was top notch and I felt so well taken care of. The way you’re served and the flow of serving were super on point. You will get your own private chef, who will cook everything fresh infront of you. Lunch set ranges from 5,500 JPY to 13,000 JPY depending on what you choose. The meat is of great quality and the chef will keep topping it up on your plate bit by bit so you will always have something on it. The garlic rice is also really good which you just have to top up 800 JPY for. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for amazing service and high quality Wagyu beef.

Start to finish an incredible experience. We felt so lucky that we were able to get a walk-in table when we showed up at 5pm on a Monday. We were informed they would need our table by 7:30 which was no problem. Each party gets their own private chef for the meal and ours was so kind and talented. We ordered one prefix meal to share and then an extra 100g of meat and two sides from the a la carte menu and it was plenty for the two of us. I do not typically eat meat but made an exception for this experience and I am so glad I did. The only problem is I am not sure any other meat will ever compare!!! Also recommend the sake, it was the perfect pairing. Service was formal but not cold. We spend about $250 USD for the two of us total. Thank you for the service and food!

  • 3/5 Boris N. 9 months ago on Google
While the food is good and the kobe beef is well prepared (along with all other dishes), the service is definitely without a single smile. It almost feels like this restaurant found all the grumpiest people in Japan and made them work there. Everyone goes about their job with a solemn look on their faces. We were not given the drink menu and the server was not happy when I asked for it (saw people next to us looking at one). Our chef did a good job preparing our food, but looked so grumpy and unhappy, it actually made us uncomfortable.

  • 5/5 Radek V. 6 months ago on Google
Insanely delicious culinary experience, the staff speaks decent enough english and will show you how everything works. You get your personal chef that cooks your ordered meal right in front of you. Everything is pretty slow paced, so you have time to enjoy every bite. The price is very reasonable for both the quality of food and the service you get, so I can absolutely recommend this place.

Went for my 22nd birthday, we went for lunch and was greeted and reassured what we had reserved When I tell you it melts like butter in your mouth , it’s worth the experience and not as expensive compared to the states The chef was nice even with the language barrier And we were actually full at the end! Never did we have to ask for more napkins / water / sauce the employees were observant and Caring When I’m in Kyoto again I will stop by again <3 thank you for the beautiful and friendly experience Total price for me and my husband was about like USD $129

Wonderful experience here! The quality of beef is unparalleled and service is excellent. Tip to the travelling foodie, their house select beef is incredible!!! you don’t need to get Kobe beef to experience the highest quality beef, if there are two of you, get one house select and one Kobe! Worth it!!!

We were very happy with our experience at this restaurant. The wonderful Chef Tsuyoshi and his equally great wait-staff provided a fantastic dinner and show for our table. The staff speak English quite well, and explained all aspects of the dishes to us. The dishes were staggered well to break up the richness of the beef, and at no point did we feel overwhelmed - which can happen with meat of this grade. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody in Kyoto looking to try the worlds best beef, served tastefully with wonderful side dishes. Great food, staff, and service!

Amazing honeymoon experience! These are by far the best steaks we have ever tasted. We took the Kobe and the Moriya beef. The Moriya tasted amazing but the Kobe was out of this world! The restaurant seats about 10 people with each couple having their own chef preparing the food. The preparation is done in front of you and is quite an experience to see. As a cherry on top we were served a delicious dessert with “Happy Honeymoon” written in chocolate on the plate. The service in this restaurant is also high class. Would definitely recommend this for anyone willing to try Kobe!

I got a bit worried when I first arrived at this upscale Japanese teppanyaki steakhouse. It was because the entire restaurant was filled with tourists, no local customers at all. Luckily, the restaurant have not only met but exceeded all my expectations! As I prefer leaner cut, I selected “Mouriya Strictly Selected Beef” in “A5 Finest Fillet Steak” at 150g per person. Holly molly, it was the best looking and most tastiest piece of steak I have had in a long time! It had the best lean to fat ratio and our chef cooked them professionally and perfectly. Best of all, he didn’t cook all the beef at once, only a small portions at a time so that we can always enjoy the freshest beef right off from the teppanyaki grill! Paring these perfectly cooked steaks with crispy garlic and wasabi was so divine that I can’t even put my experience in words. In addition to the set dinner, I added 40g of “Teppanyaki Foie Gras” per person too. Again, the chef prepared these foie gras flawlessly; they were slightly crusty on the outside, extremely creamy in the inside, and matches perfectly with their in-house wine reduction sauce. They have a great wine selection to choose from and if you are there to celebrate special occasions, you can inform them a head of time. They have prepared my special dessert with a little “happy birthday” message.

Came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday while we were in Kyoto. My partner is a huge fan of steak so I had to bring him here for Kobe Beef! The course started with a beef appetiser and pumpkin soup which was yummy. They also served salad, scallops with asparagus before the main highlight - Beef! 😊 We ordered a Sirlon & Fillet and they were cooked to the way we liked, medium rare. The beef came with assortment of veggies and mushroom - they complimented the beef well. The entire experience of watching the chef skilful preparing your meal was amazing. Service and Ambience were lovely. Staff even gave my partner a complimentary birthday desert which was a nice touch! We enjoyed our time here and would recommend anyone who is looking to enjoy a kobe beef experience.

We took Kobe beef fillet (A5) course x1 and Finest Kobe beef sirloin (A5) x2 for dinner. They also have non-beef menu items and we had the "fish of the day" as well. Seating was at the counter and so the beef and fish were prepared in front of us. Both the Kobe beef fillet and sirloin tasted exceptionally excellent. Words do not do the meat justice. The chef used the fat from the beef to cook the other items as well. The soup, salad, vegetables and dessert all tasted great too. Even the coffee was excellent. You definitely need to make a reservation for this restaurant. i made mine thru goog maps and it took me to a tablecheck link. Service was very good. both the chef and the servers were very attentive. You can let them know if you have any dietary restrictions as well. Price wise, it definitely pricey for the cut of A5 Kobe beef but that is expected and very much worth every yen. Location, the restaurant was quite easy to find with goog maps.

We had the Kobe beef finest fillet (A5) dinner. This was the best steak I have ever had in my life. I had sake and my dad had beer with dinner. The care and attention to detail when the chef was cooking our food in front of us was impeccable. The amuse bouche, hors d’ouvres, soup, dessert, everything was exceptional. Highly recommend!! I will definitely come back here next time I am in Japan.
