We went here for a two-hour private open-air bath. The staff were very accommodating. This ryokan is only seven minutes away from Ogotoonsen Station (around 28 minutes away from Kyoto Station) and they offer rooms with private bath and per hour private bath rental. For non-Japanese speakers, some of the ryokan staff can converse and explain things in English. They even offered us a free ride going back to the Ogotoonsen Station.

Its a small but fantastic hotel, you can experience onsen both public or private. And also you can sleep using tatami and have old style dinner. Here ia the place to experience traditional japan.

Lovely Ryokan with the option to have a private onsen. The normal onsen facilities are nice and spacious. If you have tattoos you better take a private onsen as you will nit be allowed in the regular onsen. The rooms are traditional and very well set. The dinner and breakfast are outstanding and well worth the money

Very good accommodations and public bathroom (onsen). The service was excellent. If I would point anything negative at all was the lack of some information for foreigners, and as many other public bathrooms, tattooed people were not allowed.

Located 20 minutes away from Kyoto central station, the Dantoukan onsen hotel provided us a lovely, peaceful and refreshing stay after a tiring week of vacation. It provided a free shuttle service that picks you up from JR Ogotoonsen station 5 minutes after you call them about your arrival. Every room will be served by a dedicated staff. In our case, Suzuka-chan offered us the most welcoming introduction to the hotel. She also served the multi-course dinner in our room with the highest attention to detail which we were absolutely appreciative of. The dinner includes Wagyu shabu-shabu, sashimi, miso soup, tempura and many more. After the dinner, we booked a private onsen which is located at the rooftop. It costs ¥5,500 an hour upon reservation. Enjoying a private onsen in a cold autumn night was one of the most amazing feeling. The temperature of the onsen is also just right as it wasn’t too hot and won’t feel any burning feel. After a lovely night of sleep, we were welcomed by Suzuka-chan again with a multi-course Japanese style breakfast. Before leaving, we toured around the souvenir shop on 1/f and bought 20 pieces of Shiba printed cookies that costs only ¥780, much cheaper than comparable souvenir snacks you may find in Kyoto center. We were finally bid farewell by Taro-kun, a lovely and gentle Shiba puppy and Suzuka-chan. A special thank for the hotel, the staffs, Suzuka-chan and Taro-kun for the lovely experience. Will definitely re-visit the hotel and greet Taro-kun with family again in near future. Highly recommended for any travellers to Kyoto or Osaka that look for a peaceful hideout from the busy city!~ :-)

This onsen was my favorite part of our trip to Japan. The food is the best food I ate while in Japan. The onsen is wonderful. The hotel is clean, and peaceful. The staff is inconceivably amazing, kind, and helpful. They went out of their way to make what they thought was American style breakfast for my husband and I. We didn’t even ask. They just thought it would be nice to do so. I actually cried when we left because I was so grateful to everyone there. I love this place. I cannot wait to go back.

Best food we had in Japan. Perfect Ryokan, taking its close proximity to Kyoto in regard. Nice hot springs (separated male/female). Booking private open-air is possible — and highly recommended

Great place with onsens (private and public ones). Traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner (delicious), yukatas, friendly and helpful personnel.
