Where do I start. Such kind, genuine hospitality. I read great reviews so hoped to swing by with my friend and experience something along the lines of what others here have posted. By far my expectations were exceeded. Order the sake tasting, and get the food pairing. What an amazing experience full of education of the sake making process by Kako! Food was delicious. We ordered more potato salad because we loved the one included in the sake/food pairing. I honestly don’t even care for potato salad. I will have dreams of eating this potato salad!!!!! Thank you Kako and the lovely woman working with him and helping serve us (I am sorry I cannot recall the name at the moment). 11/10 experience personally!

Is it possible to have seven stars for service? We walked in without a reservation to discover that a party of five could not be accommodated. However, Fumiaki Kako, the owner gave our three kids the table and had my wife and me sit at the bar. We ordered a sake flight to start and that's when our adventure began. You don't just get excellent sake here. You get a sake mini-course while you sip and eat excellent food (pairing the deep-fried chicken with the chicken cartilage with pickle is highly recommended. You won't find this in the States!). So our four-sake flight turned into a 15-sake flight in no time. Complete with laminated cards showing how sake is made and how the rice is prepared. The bottle and beautiful glasses line up and the food keeps coming (you haven't lived until you eat a plate of their hot anchovy French fries). And the whole time Kako keeps up a steady stream of fascinating information about this wonderful drink while also running a very bustling and lively joint. We were all very impressed and charmed. Wonderful service, wonderful food, great kindness shown to five Americans on their first trip to Japan. We got to don the official aprons and take a picture with Kako as well. Once again, just walk down any small street or alley anywhere in japan and an amazing dinner experience can be found. This one was a highlight of our trip. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us, Kako, and for you sage advice to match sake drinking with water drinking!

We started the Sake tasting that quickly became a tasting 101 course. Our host was gracious, fun and knowledgeable. We left feeling like Sake gurus, but confident we could now buy a bottle and actually get the taste we wanted. A great time and fun had by all. Highly recommended.

Absolutely spectacular! I had read previous good reviews so decided to go by myself. The service was top notch with the owner himself taking me to Sake university, (showing me samples of rice to the process of making it). They gave me many free samples of other sakes to try the contrasting flavours and took the time to explain each one in detail. The food was exceptional, all fantastically well cooked, presented and of course with sake pairing reccomendations. Highly suggest the Sake sampler and the food pairing plate for 2 pax. All of this for an increadibly reasonable price!!! Absolutely will visit again

Intimate and cozy atmosphere with a variety of Sake selections; fragrant, rich, aged sakes and even refreshing sakes. They serve both hot and chilled sake with a knowledgable staff to educate any level of Sake taster. This location was one of the highlights of our visit to Tokyo.

We went really wanting to try many sakes. We had some working knowledge of sakes, and know our likes and dislikes, and Kako-san was able to give us good suggestions what to try, and what food went with what. I picked some sakes randomly, and they paled in comparison with what Kako-san introduced. So my suggestion - go with what he suggests!

A Tokyo Gem for Sake Enthusiasts My partner and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Premium Sake Pub Gashue in Tokyo, and we can confidently say that it's an absolute gem in this bustling city. From the moment we stepped inside, it was evident that this was going to be a unique and unforgettable experience. One of the standout features of Premium Sake Pub Gashue is their thoughtful approach to catering to international guests. The menu, thoughtfully presented in English, immediately put us at ease and eliminated any language barriers. This thoughtful touch allowed us to focus on what truly matters – the exquisite world of sake. We opted for the sake tasting experience with food pairings, and it turned out to be a decision we would not regret. The gracious and knowledgeable host, Kako, went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. He took the time to explain the nuances of different sake varieties, providing insights into their flavors, aromas, and characteristics. Kako's passion for sake was evident in his engaging and informative descriptions. What truly set Premium Sake Pub Gashue apart was Kako's detailed explanation of the sake-making process. Learning about the intricate steps involved, from rice polishing to fermentation, added depth to our appreciation of this Japanese beverage. Kako also shared his expertise on how to read a sake bottle label and, most importantly, how to pair sake with food. This newfound knowledge transformed our tasting experience into a journey of exploration, delighting our taste buds with every sip and bite. The service at Premium Sake Pub Gashue was nothing short of exceptional. Kako's warmth, attentiveness, and genuine passion for sake elevated the entire evening. It's rare to encounter such dedicated and gracious hosts who take the time to ensure that their guests have a truly immersive and enjoyable experience. In all honesty, our visit to Premium Sake Pub Gashue surpassed even the paid food tours we had previously embarked upon in Tokyo. The combination of education, hospitality, and the sheer joy of savoring exceptional sake in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere made this an unforgettable experience. We left with a newfound appreciation for sake and a desire to return for more. In conclusion, Premium Sake Pub Gashue is a hidden gem in Tokyo that should not be missed by anyone with a love for sake or a desire to learn more about this Japanese treasure. Thanks to Kako's expertise and warm hospitality, it has been one of the best experiences my partner and I have had in Tokyo, and we eagerly look forward to our next visit. If you're seeking an authentic and enriching sake experience, make sure to add Premium Sake Pub Gashue to your must-visit list in Tokyo.

Wow, what a venue. We had the most amazing experience here tonight trying so many different types of sake. I didn’t know how complex this amazing drink could be. If you are in Ueno, I would highly recommend a visit here. This is the true meaning of Japanese hospitality.

Best sake pub ever because of the great people that come here and the management as well. We came here on our first day in tokyo and the owner was super friendly and helpful in making sure we had the best experience. We bought a flight of 3 sakes and got to taste the fruit wines too. We met some awesome other customers who told us they had each traveled between 40 minutes to hour to come up this specific pub. Because of the great ambience and company. Love it.

Wonderful experience. We found this place on our third night in Tokyo and the owner was very welcoming and hospitable with fluent English. We ordered the Sake tasting and food pairing and as everyone else has said, he walked us through a full Sake education and kept bringing other bottles out for us to try. The food was fantastic including incredible Sashimi and the bonito fries were amazing. So glad we found this place and hope to visit again before we leave.

We had a wonderful sake experience! Great food and wide range of sake ;) Both the owner and staff are super friendly. The owner had an interesting little lecture on the different kinds of sake, which is great for sake beginners ;) Definitely recommend to everyone who would like to spend a chill relaxing evening drinking sake!

Amazing chance evening with my brother visiting from the USA. The owner is very genuine and hospitable, and his love for sake show's in both. We intended to just pop in for a few, but 3 hours and about 400 sakes later, we were taking photos with the locals and owner all dressed up in Gashue's aprons. Great part of town, too. Lots to do and see in the area. Very memorable.

The BEST! my wife and I wanted to do a sake tasting on our honeymoon and found this was right next to our hotel. We stopped in, and the owner greeted us with not only our order of 8 sake, but kept bringing over new amazing varieties of sake along with information on everything about each variety. He was SO incredibly generous and a lot of fun to interact with along with being very affordable. This guy knows his stuff and his bar is a MUST visit in Tokyo. Looking forward to the next time we can stop in!

Wandered in here one night to have a single drink. Great vibe with a film projected on the wall and mostly locals. We ended up having a long conversation with the owner, who gave us a lesson on the various types of sake and how they are created. We got to sample several types of sake, all of them excellent. Well worth a visit!

Unbelievable service by Kako san! He can speak English very well- spent the time to explain to us foreigners on Japanese sake culture and how to differentiate between the drinks. Took the time to teach us how to enjoy the various different tastes, and compared between the different temperatures. We tried out 15 different sake drinks and with the delicious food - it was such a great experience! I have never experienced such great service before - and now my eyes have been opened to the world of Japanese sake. I will definitely be back and will be bringing all my friends here!

This is the most fun you could ever have tasting sake. Show your personality to the staff that you’re here to have fun and the atmosphere becomes contagious. Educational, fun, and most importantly, delicious. This was my favorite sake experience in Tokyo and I’ve had several. Well worth the the train or Uber to Taito. Genuine, warm hospitality with solid bites and good times. Make sure you buy a sake for the staff, as it will unlock memories for the rest of your life.

We had booked a sake tasting course in this place, which I can fully recommend! We had a british (yes!) sake expert, who had great experience in brewing and tasting sake. He guided us sake beginners through everything you need to know about the famous Japanese beverage. in the meantime you will try a broad selection of different tasting sake, paired with great food pairings. The chicken karaage in the picture was awesome, but the others were no less delightful! My personal favorite was actually another of the dishes we got, but you need to find out yourself 😄 Anyways you leave feeling like an expert Sake connoisseur 👌 Definitely one of the highlights of our Japan journey!

The owner is super passionate about sake. I learned a lot that night and really enjoyed the different sakes they have. I would highly recommend this place, they have a vast selection of different sakes. The owner spoke English which was key as I don’t speak Japanese. Great atmosphere and good company.

My friends and I stumbled across this place my first night in Japan and I’m so glad we did! What an incredible introduction to sake and Japanese bar culture. We couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgeable and gracious host too. We did the sampler and got an entire lesson on how sake is made, and the differences between them. If you want to get immersed in the local brewing scene, or simply discover your favorite sake, this is an unmissable stop on your tour of Tokyo!

Amazing Experience with Nihonshu Tasting! During our visit to Japan, we had the pleasure of visiting this charming bar that offered not only great food but also a sake tasting experience. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about sake. The sake tasting was a unique and delightful experience, as the owner took the time to explain the different types and flavors of nihonshu. It was a fascinating journey into the world of sake, and we learned so much during our visit. This is the best sake bar I've ever been to. They have a large variety of delicious sake paired with excellent kind service. Their English is actually really good which is helpful as they explain the different types of sake available. Ask them for their recommendation. If you have a particular type of sake that you're looking for, I'm sure that they'll be able to find something that suits your tastes. We had so much fun that we'll be returning in a few days for more sake and good times. I can't recommend this place enough.

This is the place to go to try sake/nihonshu, no matter what your level of familiarity with sake. Kako-san took the time to explain what sake is and what to look out for. He even demonstrated with charts for some basic education at the table! He was very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend to check this place out if you're interested in sake. The food is also amazing as well.
