The price is not cheap, but it is a delicious rice porridge. It is a famous shop popular with Japanese people. The menu is diverse and you can enjoy various seafood and vegetables. Seasoning is seasoned fragrantly unlike Japanese thin rice porridge. Chinese staff are helpful and positive. They can use foreign languages well. Thick paper hand towels, and the service of chicken in the table is also generous. However, there is something very unfortunate that lowers two stars. That's pretty poor washing of the dishes. The lipstick of the previous customer remained in the cup. The plate is also yellowish. The tableware that arrived was dirty and all the good points disappeared.

I came in around 3pm on a Saturday and there was a line outside. The food here is pretty good and I especially liked their porridge. Their lunch set is available on weekdays only.

shatenki shatenki shatenki is what I say because their name sounds so funny. shatenkishatenkishatenki. but don't let this name fool you. They serve excellent congee. Located in the middle of Yokohama Chinatown, Shatenki Nigouten specializes in congee or rice porridge. Just look for a long line and looks like a hole in the wall restaurant from outside. I believe there was a Santa Claus statue outside too. It was surprising to see the interior looked like a high end restaurant. The prices for the congee are very reasonable. It was about $8 for a smaller bowl which can easily serve 2, but the other cooked items were pricey. Keep in mind that if you have a small party or are by yourself, you may be seated with a lot of other people at a round table. The table's big enough and everyone just keeps to themselves so it's a lot better than a cafe where you have to sit right next to people you don't know.

This restaurant has 5 chefs they know damn well what they're doing. I'm not Chinese so I can't verify the authenticity of the taste, but for international tastebuds, this restaurant is spot on. Let's start with the food. You can order the shrimp porridge set (you get shrimp porridge + fried chicken + pork bun) for 1500円 and you'll go home with a full and happy stomach. Add some dumplings and cakwe and you'll go home with a very full and very happy stomach. All the food feels freshly cooked and is seasoned to perfection. Everything I ate felt like the chef has mastered the dish. The service was also good. I went on a Monday afternoon and the queue was very long. However, line moved very quickly and I ended up only waiting around 5-10 minutes. They have quite a lot of space and plenty of quick and kind staff. I spilled 3 drops of soy sauce and a staff immediately came, smiled, and wiped it off. I ordered without looking at the price so I was expecting to pay like 5000 yen cuz I had 4 add ons total for 2 people. I ended up paying only 3600 which I will divide with my girlfriend who ate with me. The price was surprisingly cheap and I left as full as when I ate at some of the other all you can eat restaurants in the area. I came with high expectations due to the good reviews of this restaurant and I'm happy to say that those expectations were well fulfilled. I would've given this 6 stars if I could.

Went for Sunday breakfast mostly because the reviews were good so wanted to experience myself. The wait line was around 45 minutes, and you can check the menu beforehand entering the place. Prices were really really good(We were 2 and each pay around 1,800¥)and the taste was AMAZING, it really surprised me. Portions were more than enough( I eat a lot xD, so approved!). The staff/service completely friendly and superb. I even asked for a really specific sauce that I wanted, they didn't served it in that restaurant but for pleasing me they brought me something similiar which I was completely grateful. It's on my top selection now whenever I visit Chinatown, and surely will go again. Completely recommend it!

The food is good but the price is way to expensive for a dish you can make at home. For this price range I expected there to be way more toppings or some sides. Just a bowl of boiled rice with few slices of toppings should be ¥300 - ¥400.

Nice rice porridge! They have wide variety of porridge. It tastes really good. This place is very popular so there is always a waiting line outside of the restaurant. You can meet Santa Claus throughout the year!

Great place to have decent porridge and dimsum. Price is affordable and their century egg porridge was amazing. The queue was very long on Sunday, so please go there earlier.

Great place. Everything on the menu is good. Which is probably why there are long lines that span across the street to go here. They have dim sum and the general chibese food. It seems like most people come here for the porridge which is reliably good. They also have a second and even a third shop nearby if you want to try your luck with a shorter line.

Absolutely amazing! You must visit, expect to queue but it’s so worth it. We arrived at 08:15am and there was already a queue. Recommend the dumplings and ramen

The congee was not bad. We also ordered the pan fried dumplings/ gyoza and mapo tofu, which were also quite tasty. We went for smaller servings for all the dishes (except the gyoza which came in a plate of 5 and were really large) and paid 2,900¥ for 2 pax. Service was courteous enough and the toilets were clean.

Arrived 13:20 during the week. Waiting in line 20 min. Order till food 15 min. Had a lunch set. The picture showed three shrimps. Found just two in my porridge. Also had to ask for the pickels as they did forget them. Otherwise as expected.

Amazing you can find fantastic cantonese style porridge in Japan. Queue was not too bad either. Dim sum is okay but price is a little too steep (it's japan after all)
