It wasn't at all what my group was expecting when we first booked, but in the best way possible.  The guest house is small and homely, and a very nice mix of the traditional and modern.  Tomoya was a fantastically accommodating host and spoke English very well, on top of providing breakfast and pleasant conversation, all for a very reasonable price only a few minutes from Kamakura station.  I definitely recommend a stay here if you're planning a trip to Kamakura/Hase/Enoshima.

I was lucky to spend a few days at Irodori Guesthouse together with my grown-up daughter. At first we had booked only two nights to spend the New Year's Eve at Kamakura, but then we came back because we had enjoyed the communicative and utmost friendly atmosphere at the guesthouse. We prepared and had dinner together with our host as well as other guests and learned a lot about Japanese culture. Irodori Guesthouse was the best place to stay throughout all our roundtrip of Japan.

The samurai is the best host ever! Staying in this house will be an amazing experience for your trip to Japan (and Kamakura clearly has stuff to make it worth staying overnight). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Samurai BUSHI Thank you. You might thought old house by looking outside but people inside find a way to your heart and make you feel like you’re in your own home. You don’t stay there and forget you definitely make a new Japanese Samurai Family. Supper 6 ⭐️ place.

Samurai host is amazing: warm, open, and very welcoming! Old charming house on a cute little street in central Kamakura. Location is very good, only a short walk from the station and 10 minute walk to the beach. If you want to experience Japan on a deeper level - this place is for you.

Super friendly owner. Full experience for Japanese atmosphere. English available. Very quiet. Walking distance to the sea. Just perfect.

The owner is a great cook and knows the area and his neighbors well. His english is decent and he dabbles in other languages as new visitors from all over visit his home. You are welcomed like family here.

When I called the orner and asked a question, I felt the attitude of the orner was offensive. Though I may make him angry, I wanted him to talk normally:(

You won't come across an experience like this in Japan often. HIGHLY recommended. I went with my soon-to-be 11-year-old son and he said it was the 'best hotel he's ever stayed in Japan!!' That's because of the GREAT experience host Tomoya (aka Samurai Bushi) provides. He has excellent English and a wealth of knowledge that he is happy to share. Home-cooked dinner (extra) was delicious ... as was the Japanese breakfast (included). This is a very characterful old Japanese house in a quiet, but convenient area close to Kamakura station and 10 minutes walk from the beach. We enjoyed talking with the other guests as well as local people who dropped in for dinner/drinks. The price was also extremely good value. Come for the experience and you won't regret it. We will definitely go back.

In Kamakura and a moderate train ride from Haneda airport, this guesthouse was a wonderful first place to go in Japan. Bushi (the owner) is extremely friendly, willing to help, and wants the best for the people who stay at his guest house. It is a close walk to the beach and there is some shopping nearby. The train station is about a 10-15 minute walk away. My wife and I really enjoyed our time here and we hope to visit again.

Sadly when we visited the owner was sick so we didn't get to meet them, nor were we provided the breakfast. While the place is very eccentriclly decorated it is indeed an old house, so it is small and noisy. Bathroom is shared between all guests. It is quite inside of an alley in a residential area.
