This is heaven 😍 If you are after Japanese made kitchen/ cooking/ baking products this is the place. Look for the Kappabashi street sign (in Japanese) with yellow and green duck along the road that mark the area. Even if you just want to look around, come at least before 3pm as some shops closed as early as 4.30pm, only a couple open until 6pm. Shops open at around 9am-11am ish. Many closes on Sunday but that kinda reduces the choice fatigue plus eliminates the small ones as more great sellers and big shops are still open. If you are really serious about baking or cooking, come after lunch or even dedicate an entire day. Most shop let you browse around, touch the products and take pictures. But be careful not to break things as they might as you to pay for it. Most if not all shops have very small aisles, it won’t fit prams or wheelchairs. Not much stairs around but a step or two and some stores have multiple floors. Hence this place is only suitable for adults, as kids won’t be interested and they might touch or break things. let your partner take the children somewhere and come to this heaven 😉 Mainly there are thee kind of shops: 1. tax free shop inside the shop itself where they will do the tax deduction and you need to spend 5000yen inside that shop. (Mostly bigger and more modern shops) 2. Shop that participates in the tax free scheme in Kappabashi area. There is a tax refund counter opens until 6pm and they have the list of which shop participates in the tax free scheme- this means you don’t have to buy 5000yen in one shop and you can go to the tax refund counter once you finished shopping and buy over 5000yen from all participating shops (see pic for list) and see store stickers or you can ask the shop before buying. (Medium-big old school shops) 3. Shops that don’t do neither. In saying that, some non tax free shops sometimes sell the same items with better prices. And many items here aren’t cheaper than buying from tourist spots. Do some research and compare with amazon jp to get better deals.

Seemingly endless shops full of things you know you need and things you never knew were perfect for you. Definitely plan to spend the day there unless you know exactly what you’re looking for. I’d definitely recommend the chopstick shop. Maybe make a list before you go! There are tons of stores with pottery, kitchen items, special made in Japan knives and pots/pans and more. I have heard many of the shops are closed on Sunday’s so maybe best to go on other days. I started around 10:30 on a Saturday and not all stores were open yet. I’ll definitely be back before too long!

So many kitchen items. Less for tourists more for people who own restaurants. We didn’t know enough to make the best of our time- not really for novice cooks. You had to know for example, what type of knife with what type of material to benefit.

❤️❤️❤️So much things for the kitchen to buy. There is so much kitchen gadgets that you could only see in Japan. There is so much shops for knives, kitchen knife and even nail cutters and files or sharp scissors. There's shops for plates, bowls or spatulas and cabbage graters too. And baking tools. It's a long lane of shops and I think one day is not enough to check them all. Too overwhelming specially if you are looking for your new knife. Make sure to go around and check the price and canvas the price before buying the knife that suits on your budget and quality that you could afford. 😍So much to see. Even a food model displays for the restaurant that looks like a real food but they are made from plastic.

I’ve been to ‘kitchen street’ many times, it’s always a treat! So many interesting shops related to equipment for food industry. If you’re interested in beautifully crafted equipment you will be here for several hours!…chefs from around the world come here to find equipment…and of course ‘KNIVES’ are at the top of the list! Tuesdays seem to be the best day…least number of people and all the shops are open!

(Translated by Google) Visit Kappabashi Utensil Street, a shopping street famous for wholesale of food samples and commercial equipment! As rumored, all the stores that are open in the shopping district are highly specialized. Many products that are easy to use in everyday life, such as tableware and seasonings, were sold, including food samples that are often featured on TV. As for tableware stores, many young people come to the store, and it seems that there are many people who search for the tableware they are looking for while referring to Instagram etc. Regarding the parking lot, the public parking space on the roadside was priced at 300 yen for 60 minutes, but the nearby coin parking lot was 300 for 20 minutes. About yen seems to be the market price. * Please note that not all coin parking lots have been confirmed, so it is highly possible that the data is not accurate. * However, the public parking space on the street was full during the day, so it seems better for those who drive to visit after having an idea of the parking lot in advance.

Cute street for kitchenware. If we were locals and were looking for kitchenware, I’d definitely head there. We got a nice full stainless steel box grater! Don’t like those with silicon handles etc so we were happy to find one. Got some cute chopstick rests too! There are many kinds - from sleek classy ones to silly ones shaped like mayo bottles. Lots of knife shops too, some of which offer sharpening services.

Such a cool place to buy a knife. My wife and I spent hours just visiting all of the shops and finding some that were hidden away. So cool to see all the variety of kitchenware and knifes on display. We ended up picking up a couple of knifes for our home kitchen. Can’t wait to get back home and use them!

This street is very amazing, it is basically the supplier street to restaurant owners. They sell in bulk too. If you are looking to equip your kitchen with some Japanese utensils and crockery this is the place to come to. Short walk from Asakusa. There are some shops they sell premium kitchen knifes that is well sought after.

From the name of Kappabashi, "Kappa" has become the image character of the city, and you can meet adorable kappa in various places on the street. There are some English speaking shops for tourists too.(not sure if they are more expensive or not) If you are tired there are some good cafes to sit down. Wonderful traditional market place. Traditional japanese stuffs and items specifically kitchen utilities are available here. There are shops which have been doing business here for around 100 years. Good thing is that there are many box parkings available. I see this place is a great source of traditional souvenirs.

Kappabashi (Tokyo’s restaurant supply district) is a great place to get unique souvenirs. There are several great noren shops and many, many plastic food options. (These photos are contest winners from an exhibit at SkyTree the last time we were there.)

A nice place to shop for kitchen trinkets, dishes, utensils, knives, and even replica plastic foods. Some items are novel and some can be purchased around the corner for a different price, so beware and shop around. A few higher-end shops for knives and chopsticks, etc, have popped up since my last visit. These places sell some quality items, but your value may vary. Shop wisely!

We went to Kappabashi to buy a deba knife and ended up buying a santuko. It was also a blessing that there was an ongoing festival so we got a discount. There were a lot of people- locals and tourist alike were shopping. Thankful that we got there early.

Lots of tourist gifts and small notable foods can be found here. There is an opportunity to rent Kimonos for a extra special experience. We went during the new years time which meant crowds were at it’s peak. So be wary of this in your visit. There are lots of side streets that are also worth a visit.

Street with chef model in the middle. Lots of vendors selling quality knives. You can get an engraving on the knives (most of the time for free) and some places let you try out the knives on fruits to get a feel for the knife (which you totally should do to make sure you do if you’re using it)

Whatever you’re after in the cooking department you’ll find it here. Menus, chopsticks, cutlery, ceramics, napkins, brooms and so on. It’s all here with the best items being knives. The most amusing places are the ones selling plastic food. Not far from Ueno Station, with about a 20 minute walk, you will enjoy walking in and around the area discovering the different little shops and stores. Prices aren’t negotiable so don’t think of trying to try and haggle. Staff are helpful and please be patient as not everyone has great English.

The best place to look for kitchen and baking utensils!! The staff of the stores know limited English but are still very helpful, I was looking for a specific kitchen timer from one of the stores and the guy working there gave me a tourist map of the neighbourhood and directed me to a couple of different stores to help me find what I want. :)

Kappabashi Street is supposed to be the mecca for cooking and foodie lovers. Well... you have lots of stores selling kitchen equipment, tableware, clothing and decorative items. There are more than 100 stores. There also some stores where you can buy food. But that's it. It's more an issue of curiosity rather than exploring the market to buy items.

Walking down this shopping street that sells all kinds of restaurant and kitchen stuff is an interesting experience, although my aunt felt that overall prices were a bit steep. The life-like food displays were pretty cool though. I saw that we could take lessons in making our own uncannily-real food here, which sparks an idea for my upcoming food heritage gallery.

Feel the old Japan here while you shop for authentic Japanese earthen ware. This place is for creative souls who loves to cook & serve. While you walk you will also get to feel the soul of old Tokyo which is not present in main central Tokyo. Most shops close by 5 pm and The Tokyo Skytree and The Famous Sensoji temple is very close by. Explore !!

Great place to shop for a top quality Japanese knife. Many shop owners speak English and can explain the difference in the types of steel (blue carbon, white carbon, powdered steel, etc). Very educational! Knives start from about $100 and up (maybe $70-80 for a small knife). Anything less than that is probably a generic knife you can get from anywhere.

Excellent place to get all kitchen and bakery needs . Takes half a day to walk up and down the whole street . If you have specific item to purchase, recommend you to compare prices across a few store. As prices here varies significantly store to store. You virtually could purchase an entire restaurant furnishings from kitchen assets to sign board here. As many store specialise in restaurant equipment. More popular items for tourists is the kitchen knife selection, food replica and pottery/China here. For those who enjoy cooking and baking, this is the place for you. Just hope you have enough baggage space to bring it all back.

You can find almost anything you want for your kitchen here. Some of them are a little bit pricey, you could find things you need according to your budget. Also coupe nice coffee shops and restaurants there.

I went here to take a coffee roasting class at Union. If you like or need any items for your kitchen or restaurant, this is the place. Everything from vintage signs to wooden chopsticks. Prices are reasonable.

If you like exploring Crate & Barrel for the latest in kitchen/dining tools and gadgets, you will absolutely love this place. They have it all and, they have many items that you never even imagined that you could buy for your kitchen and dining room. If you were starting a new restaurant in Japan, this place would probably be your first stop. Everything from stone pizza ovens, to free standing floor mount dough mixes, even the vending machines you see fast food Ramen and Curry shops, all here, brand new and for sale. Every kind of pot, pan, and cooking tool. Stoves,  ovens, sinks, reach in freezers  and coolers. Tableware,  glasses,  cups and utensils,  they even have a few shops that sell that plastic fake-food  you see on display in the window storefronts at Japanese eateries, so real looking that you have to touch it to know for sure it's fake. I spent an entire afternoon here and, already I'm thinking about going back.

Good place to go to shop for utensils, but you should go early since most of the stores closes at 4pm.

It is a great place to buy kitchen utensils. There are some great shops available on the street. There are Japanese handmade cutlery, kitchen knives etc available. It is right outside the Asakusa station or 7-8 mins walk from the famous Senso-ji temple.

(Translated by Google) Heaven for those who love cooking! It was bigger than I expected, and there were many stores, so I couldn't go around in a few hours if I was in the store I was interested in. The price wasn't that cheap, but it was fun because there were many shops where you could get equipment that you can only see online.

Very touristic in recent years. All this posh and overpriced knife shops where a Japanese chef would never buy anything…. But still a place you can get your stuff if you are into cooking gear.

Known to mostly only Edogawa locals, this boulevard used to be the place where blue collar workers meet artisans, chefs, you name it of all professions came to find items to use at their shops, decorate their storefronts, or shop handmade distinctly aesthetically Japanese items from all walks of life. COVID has done a number and some shops have closed but the spirit of the street has not wavered. There is build back in sight, I look forward to it recapturing it’s once glory soon again.

Wooww 1 day it's not enough to see all the stores, specially if you liked to cook or bake. Every store the price are different. If you ask me my opinion, local store in my area is more cheaper than here, because you need to spend money for your travel / transportation , if you live in japan and drive your own car the parking fee it's ¥ 200 - ¥ 250 for 15 minutes, or ¥ 2000 for 24H. i I am more than 2 hrs, so I've just continued P there , and 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️to Asakusa - Tokyo Sky Tree and back again to Kappabashi for my 🚗 and paid ¥ 2000 📦🗃 boxes for cakes🎂 or for lunch box are really cheap

Did not take enough photos here but if you love kitchen items you must take a stroll down this street. Chopsticks, knives, Plastic Food, cups, pans etc etc can found here. You could spend hours here popping into all the various shops. We found some awesome cooking chopsticks for cheap but prices can range from high to low. Happy shopping. There is also a few coffee shops in area for a break.

Great place to look for kitchen ware, especially kitchen knifes with so many choices. Got a good deal on a 240 Gyuto (Masamoto KS) compared to what it costs on Canada.

Its highly concentrated with any kitchen equipment you could ever want. The knives are stunning and the selection is vast. There are tens of stores selling the same knives so you will be spoilt with choose. If you do struggle with option paralasis you will struggle too choose the knife you want and end up leaving. If you are looking for a knife I recommend choosing a style and a maker before to go. There is also a great selection of unique pottery to select from.

Kitchen street, this place has an excellent choice of kitchen and dinning supplies, very helpful and efficient store staff, extraordinary choice and relatively low prices, next to the most fun shrine and eating area.

Nothing really special here unless you’re looking for any specific kitchen utensils or Japanese knives! About 10 minutes walk from Asakusa tourist street!
