This is such a wonderful place to stay. They quality of the room is fantastic for the price. It's in a quiet area by the station and castle. It's located next to many good shops. I love how personable then owners are. They will help you find suggestions for places. They are also great to talk with. This is such a wonderful place to stay.

Overall a very nice place in a pretty good location (6 min walk from the castle, 15 min walk from Matsumoto station). Nice vibe. However - 1. walls are very thin. You should use earbuds (provided by the place) if you are a light sleeper. 2. You cannot get a drink from the bar after 22:00.

Very nicely renovated guesthouse, with very friendly hosts. There is a relaxed bar at the entrance where you can get some local craft beer and hints for your next day. We stayed in a private room which had air conditioning and very comfy futons.

Overall a good stay. Staff are really helpful with sightseeing tips and a good restaurant to find in Matsumoto. Interior looks really neat, i loved sitting at the bar on the 1st floor. The walls and floors are really thin so a bit of advice here is to be careful, you'll make a noise easily and disturbing other room.

When we arrived in Matsumoto we did not expect much, but this place is the cosiest hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It’s small, but roomy. Lovely staff and great amenities for cooking. Nice shower facilities and even a sauna for the guests to use. We loved our 3 night stay!

A cozy traditional Japanese-style house run by a wonderful staff. The rooms are plain and simple but cozy, futon bedding is comfortable, there is ample storage space. Even though the bathrooms and showers are shared, this was not a problem at all because everything is kept spotless clean (which is no wonder and just par for the course, I guess, this being Japan). And if you want to stay home for a while, there is an atmospheric lobby and bar where you can relax and chat with the staff or other guests. Oh, and the complimentary houji-cha tea was great, I couldn't stop helping myself to it. All in all, this house is a great value for the money.

The staff are extremely nice, the guesthouse is closed to the Matsumoto Castle. I had a great time there, i would have liked to stay longer, next time.

Very nice, clean and traveler friendly hostel where you feel welcome when you enter the building. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly and service oriented. The rooms and the bunks are well thought through, and you can store your luggage under the beds. Additionally it takes just a five minutes walk to Matsumoto Castle and a 7eleven, a nice little bakery, some Izakaya and restaurants are just around the corner. If you go to Matsumoto, this is a big recommendation!

Cheap, clean, cozy and beautiful! Very good guest house with everything you need and near to the castle. Also the building seems an old house from the Showa but super well kept. Also the staff has been really nice and helpful. Highly recommended!

Comfy futons, tatami mats made for a very traditional but cool experience. Lovely staff, gave us free drink tickets.

Very nice place with amazingly friendly people. Particularly recommended if you are looking for an authentic ryokan experience. Location is good, close to the Castle and in walking distance to the train station.

The tabi-shiro hostel was one of the most hearth warming places I have been to. The staff is extremely helpful with every question you have and they will try their best so you feel like at home. And if you break down your english a little bit, they will be grateful to learn more english by talking to you, while you get a deep dive in japanese culture ;) The hostel is very good located with 10min to the train station and 5min to the castle. Big recommodation. Big thanks to the awesome team at tabi-shiro for one of my favourite experiences in japan!! ❤️

This is a lovely space! Coming from design background I really enjoyed their attention to detail on the furniture and interior design. It is dorm style sleeping accomadations with a pad door lock and locker inside the room. This is a dorm where boys and girls have different sleeping rooms and washrooms. It does not have parking but there is a 24 hour lot nearby. It is in waking distance to Matsumoto Castle and city. The host were very nice people. It cost aproximately $50 a night. I will come back here again when I'm in the city.

Very much enjoyed my stay here. Accommodations are comfy, and location is nearby the station, as well as Matsumoto Castle. The staff were very understanding of our lack of language skills and helped out where possible. I talked with Hacchi a bit, and it was very delightful! She was friendly, welcoming and willing to listen to my poor Japanese. Hacchi also recommended a nice cafe for the next morning. I sadly didn't have time to stop by, but I wish I had made time! Overall the stay was comfortable, and the staff was very welcoming. 相手よかったです!本当ありがたいございました!

The location is very convenient for proximity to Matsumoto Station, Matsumoto castle and many excellent places to eat. The staff have all been exceptionally helpful, kind and fun to myself and all those I've seen them interact with as well. The facilities are new and well kept, but are reminiscent of both a traditional Japanese accommodations and a mountain retreat. Highly recommended.

Really loved staying in this place. The staff were so lovely and offered great recommendations for a nearby sushi restaurant. The room and facilities were spotlessly clean and the Japanese style mattress was very comfortable. If you are a female they have a female only toilet and shower area which is lovely and filled with little touches such as toner, moisturiser etc. Definitely recommend this place and would definitely stay here again if back in Matsumoto.

This is a true jewel of a guesthouse. It just opened in the the summer of 2016. It is ideally situated at a 5 minutes walk from the castle and 15 minutes from Matsumoto station. The staff is super nice and they speak good English. The common room is really cool and attracts guests and locals alike in the evening. The bar serves good cocktails and some food if you want. The bedrooms are also well furnished. I had a great time there and I hope to be able to come back some day.
