Very interesting place to experience various things. Its main exhibits are about the drift ice. The highlight is the special room underground where you can experience-20 Celsius degrees. It is absolutely fun to watch bubbles frozen right after blown.

Great way to escape summer heat or rain. Plenty of activities for kids to do. Instructions available in English. Even winter jackets for the sub zero section. Kids love the part where they got to blow soap bubbles and watch them freeze instead of pop.

2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣0️⃣8️⃣0️⃣1️⃣ Want to know if you can survive in -20 deg C - then this is the place for you. I thought my ears and nose were gonna break off. It was so coooolllll!!! I was given a wet towel to swirl and you guessed it - in a few spin, the wet towel starts to iced up. Its amazing. The other thing was blowing soap bubbles in here. The bubbles just freezes and drop to the floor. I was thinking if it is true - if you pee in such cold, will you form a yellow bridge ;) sorry don't judge hahahaha! The frozen creature wasn't so exciting. I guess it is beneficial for science and research to observe and learn from frozen animals but I didn't really enjoy it. No need to see nature in action against those get caught in extreme temperatures. Appreciate if you leave a LIKE if you find my comment useful. Thank you for your support.

Highly recommend stopping here if you are in Mombetsu. 450 yen to get in. The English signage was really good compared to most Japanese museums. Staff was very friendly! Fun for kids.

The only thing we like was the simulation room of -20 degrees, it was so cold the we hardly spend 15 minutes out there and the simulation of a ternado .

-20 room filled with various displays of fish in ice, a good amount of English explanations, and various hands-on interactive science exhibits. You can request a bottle for making soap bubbles that freeze but ours popped and turned sticky so I was a bit disappointed by that. Really friendly staff and a "present" of hotate shell for making a wish aftee youre finished.

I learned a lot about the Okhotsk sea. Fascinating. Also I learned that entering a - 20 degree Celsius in summer is fun! Watch the movie too. Costs a bit extra but is worth it.

Very friendly and helpful staff. There is a museum, and a short movie about the sea ice on a dome above your head. There is also a minus 20 degree room where you can experience winter. There is also some food and a small gift shop. It`s worth the visit.

Our lack of Japanese language skills could have prevented us from gaining full value at the museum but the friendly and attentive staff ensured that we didn’t miss a thing.

Impressive with Omni theater showing us the landscape changes and efforts to protect nature. The center effort to share power of nature (e.g handkerchief turn stiff in room temperature -20degree celcius, etc.).

It's a nice museum, but it's mostly for Japanese speakers, especially kids. We spent half an hour there, to get a good introduction to the sea ice phenomena.

👍 Small place but you could spend an hour like minutes. We walked on the way to the tower but took a free shuttle bus service back to parking lot. Nice staffs, worth to explore at each floor, B level 8M. below the sea, 2nd floor for a short 4D movie and 3rd floor observation deck with free telescope.

👍👍 最高!広い、遊具多数、ふわふわドームもある、混んでない、涼しい!。ちょっとした室内遊び場も併設あるけど、そっちは見た感じ3歳くらいまでかな。
