After a short train trip from Sapporo Station, we arrived at Otaru, a quaint little town which is famous for its seafood...and immediately upon arrival, we rushed to the Otaru Market for a much anticipated seafood lunch!! And after a quick rule of thumb calculation, we found that the price of the King Crab is roughly half of the normal price at restaurants in Kuala Lumpur!! The outlet we chose could guarantee us all the food would be prepared the halal way, and therefore, we ordered everything we desired!!!😋😋😋

The boss is very friendly and nice! Their crab was so fresh and delicious. Recommend to boil the crab, grill will be too dry. They will help you to break the shell, very easy to eat. 2.3 kg Hokkaido King Crab, cost $25,000 yen.

Seafood as fresh as it can get, unless u did fish it out yourself. If u are a seafood lover, then this is it. We definitely did come to the right place and enjoyed ourselves. Having our own choices, we shared and agreed that the fish choice dish we had was superrrrrr! Check out photos and decide for yourself😂, which is the better dish. Location: Situated on a hill, there is bit of challenge to find parking initially due to the number of lots available, but we were rather lucky that there were some cars exiting upon our arrival. The whole place is actually beside d train n bus interchange, so expect some crowds coming over. The whole stretch of shops is located in an alley, so u may find it abit challenging to find it, but just keep calm and u will definitely find it. This shop is just about 3 shops past the main entrance. Since it was our first time, we went down all d way and up again. Reconfirming again via photos with the shops. Choice ordered: Bowl of Crab meat- filled with various types of crab meat, from snow to king and more. Atka Mackerel- Large size, bigger than our face, grilled with salt. We were torn between various types of dishes on the menu but after careful considerations, we chose the above which was worth it in every matter. Taste: Both were yummy but the grilled fish tasted way better with the fish fats juicing out. The crab meat dish was sweet and salty and had a balanced taste with the warm rice. Both had their strengths in taste and yummy-ness🤗. Overall: We would recommend what we have had but of course you are more than welcomed to try others. Scallop was also served fresh thus you will be able to definitely have a great time with your family/friends with the food quality served there. Note: We did see alcohol for sale, ready for consumption in the shop. But pls note that in other cities, where the muslims are the minorities, its normal for them to sell such, eg, paris, france, milan, turkey (europe side).. so pls do not be alarmed when u do see those drinks as well ya. All in all, some may choose not to eat there but its a personal choice. We would not say its 100% halal but what its sufficient for us to decide what is that line.. Cheers!!

Had the king crab here and it was amazing was expensive but for a one-off was worth it the owner suggested to have ½ boiled and half grilled both were nice but it was harder to get the meat from the grilled ½ so I would recommend all boiled. The restaurant was clean but basic we sat on the tatami seating in the back and was nice as its out of the way.

Went early in the morning at round 7 before the crowd sets in. My target was to get a crab for a luxurious breakfast in Otaru. The owner was very friendly and quoted me for the three different types of crabs. I settled with his recommendation on the hairy crab. Requested for it to be cooked, cut and pack for take out. It took about 30min and it was very well packed. Needless to say, the crab was fresh and delicious. You can have it here with the seafood bowl as well but I prefer the comfort of my nearby hotel.

Definitely five stars for quality of seafood and the cheap price. Yes it is cramped inside and not the most comfortable but it only seats about fifteen people max, and feels more intimate than the larger and busier places. We would return.

Great little market with really good prices for all the sashimi. Look around all the different shops before making your choice, we have the most amazing salmon sashimi for 500 yen. Goes really well with beer.

The seafood is really top notch. First meal I had in japan so far! The crab is just super fresh and juicy!!!! Must must must.

Fresh seafood but more expensive than sanma market

When we ordered the hakkaku fish and whelk，they chraged us 500 yen more each than the listed price.

After exploring Otaru from the morning, my last stop was for some fresh seafood before making my way back to Sapporo. It was pretty busy around midday and I somehow managed to skip a queue because I was dining solo I wanted to try some king crab legs and for 4500Y, you don't get very much. You do get - fresh, meaty and sweet crab meat but make sure you scrape out every strand of flesh given the price! I also got a fresh rice bowl which included Hokkaido crab and scallops along with some trusty salmon. A good experience due to friendly staff and quality of seafood.

Decided to give this store at the end of the street a try since everywhere else was crowded. We wanted to eat sashimi crab but only option was king crab. Abit disappointed as rice served in our sashimi bowls was normal white rice which was hot. Sushi rice would be better. Would not say the sashimi was very fresh.

Love the king crab!!! You all must come here to try. But got free 1hr parking.
