My boyfriend took me to Milton’s for my birthday and it was the best experience I’ve ever had. Milton is a awesome person! He made us feel comfortable and was very friendly. I strongly recommended coming to this bar, it is a good time. Milton is also a artist and he has his artwork for sale around his bar. His artwork is unique and outstanding! If you love art or like looking at outstanding work you will appreciate his artwork! This was one of the best highlights to my trip. He is a genuine kind person who made sure I had the best birthday. Also make sure you try his secret spiced gin, he also has a great selection for Japanese whiskey, sake, and beer. Milton Kyoto is located on the 2 floor (2F).

I went to this bar last night with my sister and husband and we had such a wonderful time. The bar itself cozy (about 6 seats total) and so beautifully decorated. Milton is a fantastic artist and you can see his work all over. The cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed chatting with him and perusing all of the interesting books and objects he has all over. Highly recommend and hope to return soon!!

Absolute pleasure to have found this spot with its humble owner for a shared love for whiskey. Intimate and cosy for up to 5 people and communicates well in English. His recommendations were also on point. Clearly loves what he does and couldn’t have found a better place to spend my evening in Kyoto.

We followed a little sign up from the street on a whim and found probably the warmest and cutest little bar we had ever been to. We had a lovely conversation with Milton, who is not just a bar owner but also a very impressive artist with a really original style. After leaving I realised I probably helped myself to a few too many of the postcards with pictures of his work on them, but Milton's really is a place to write home about.

Miltons was a welcomed surprise after a busy day looking around Kyoto. We stumbled across this gem - Milton was very welcoming and made us some delicious drinks. He also had great English. Prices very reasonable and he gave us a recommendation map of Kyoto. Couldn’t recommend more.

2nd floor bar. He has a something like a menu but not really it’s a really cool bar with trinkets and art to look at. He speaks great English and will make you anything and has a heavy pour. Everything he recommends was good and we know Japanese whisky. 6 stools and standing room. Toilet available. Snacks but no food. I am going there again tonight!!! Also it’s non smoking!!!!!

Cutest, best vibe bar in Kyoto. It’s a cosy 6 seater bar and the owner Milton is a vibe himself. So much character in the decor - he’s an artist and has done the place himself. He will make you a drink out of any liquor on the table and it taste AMAZing! 5 star. Must visit when you are in Kyoto!

Milton’s is a tiny, super cozy, artistic (and did i say tiny, as in like 6 bar seats tiny?) bar on the second floor of a nondescript, backstreet building in Kyoto. There you’ll enter Milton’s magical creative closet of artistic curiosities and drinks. The drinks menu is amusing and charming, but it won’t help you much — just order what you like from the bottles spread across the bar. What you absolutely must ask for, however, is Milton’s personal, hand-drawn “treasure map” of fantastic, lesser-known food and drink spots in the area. He won’t steer you wrong. Milton’s is a delightful little gem!

Fun quirky bar in central Kyoto run by a fantastic host and artist named Milton. We stumbled upon this back in 2019 and was the first bar we came back to in 2023. Highly recommened to anyone who likes a unique local experience and a great drink at very reasonable prices.

We came here because of the good google reviews and it surely didn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for somewhere cosy and intimate, this is the place. Milton was warm, kind, inviting and so friendly! We loved his unique artwork, bar space and liquor collection that we felt reluctant to leave. Business was impacted due to Covid-19 so please come and support him, I promise you will have a great time here! He speaks good english and I recommend his special homemade cocktail!! :-)

We have known Milton for quite some time both as an artist and a bar/cafe owner. He is excellent at both! He has a great selection of whiskeys of the world, including the smokey ones I really enjoy. The food is also very good. As residents of Kyoto, we like to drop in and chat with Milton, drink whisky and occasionally have a snack. I consider it a must visit for visitors and locals.

This is a must go to bar if you are in or around Kyoto! It is located on the second floor (2F) and one of artworks is on display outside the bar. Milton is a very talented artist and his work is displayed all throughout the bar, from paintings, sculptures and even the menu. Really unique style of art from a true artist. Definitely look through the menu as it is very entertaining. Really great variety of drinks and I hear the cocktails are great as well. Also be sure to try Miltons Secret Spiced Gin. It has a nice kick and is very smooth. Milton is very friendly and provided us with easily one of our best experiences in all of Japan. I have nothing but great things to say about this place and when you come by you will see why. Come give Milton a visit for a great experience in Kyoto!

Very good bar! No menu. Just say what do you want to drink! I got tipsy with just 2 cocktails. I highly recommend this place!

If you are in Kyoto, you should visit Milton. He is a lovely host, an artist, and a tour guide all in one. The bar is intimate and full of characters. Ask Milton for his website so you could see his paintings. He likes heroes, and ultraman. Milton communicates well in English. Milton provides great recommendations for restaurants. The cocktails also taste great. You will have an interesting experience here.

Cool tiny little bar down a small side street. By tiny i mean the place seats about 6 people at the bar on the second floor. Bar has a good selection but limited options for Japanese whiskey. Owner can speak English and is actually an artist, and you'll find his artistry influencing every aspect of the bar, from his artwork on the walls to the hand drawn menus. He was easy to chat to and was generous to give us some tips on places to go as a tourist, he had a print out(which he drew) of his local favourite spots. Tried out his own made concoction gin, which was nice. Definately check this place out of you can.

Miltons artwork is exceptional and gives an insight into a new world. 3. prices are reasonable And out of all: Milton is an outstanding and gifted person and a great host. A secret gem in the middle of busy Kyoto downtown.

Popped into Milton's for a couple of casual drinks and had an absolutely wonderful time. The drinks were great and Milton is full of excellent recommendations, this is definitely somewhere to go if you want a quiet drink in a place with real character. Thank you Milton!

Top 3 bar experiences ever!!! Milton is the loveliest man and bartender we have ever met. His bar is adorned with his own artworks (he’s been painting/sculpting for 20 years!), which puts a very unique twist on the place. There’s no menu - you just choose from the huge selection of bottles across the bar and let him work his magic. Bless you Milton - we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Kyoto!

The bar and (especially) Milton are amazing! Great selection of Japanese liquors, including some homemade stuff, and delightfully decorated with Milton's own artwork. One of my favorite places in Japan for its service, drinks, and experience. Milton, the bar owner, greets you warmly in a cozy 6-seater bar decorated uniquely with fun music playing at the perfect volume — low enough for conversation and loud enough to sing along. We chatted with Milton and he went above and beyond to make sure our night and entire stay in Kyoto would be top notch. Definitely check out this bar!
