Bar Record store

👍👍 Very laid back, small bar with a nice selection of Japanese craft beers. The bartender spins a variety of jazz albums and sets a very chill mood. The bartender was very friendly and spoke good English. If you like the music enough, there's a record store upstairs with some amazing and pricey heirloo... Great bar with superb music, great experience! Japanese draft beer and a nice selection of sake as well. A few vegan snacks on their menu including potato chips & popcorn and tortilla chips.

One of my favorite experiences in Kyoto thus far. The bar is off the beaten path and nondescript, but once you find your way there you're in for a treat. Vinyl spinning sets a great ambiance and the bartender is very friendly and glad to offer recommendations. Both sake and beer options are phenomenal.

A fantastic little bar with a friendly owner/bartender and mellow atmosphere. A little bit of a challenge to find. Look for the Cat cafe sign.

This is a small, well-designed gem in Kyoto that deserves more attention! A great lover of both sake and music (jazz in particular), the friendly owner helped us decide on a try-out selection of sake brands, and gave us tips on where else to go for a good listening experience. On the second floor was a decent amount of records (we came a bit late and didn’t have time to check it out properly) and the movie ”Paris, Texas” was running in the background, adding to the cool indie vibe of the place. World Wide FM Kyoto also arranged a live event here recently.

Groovy little bar with a good selection of booze and tunes. Attentive bartender and a groovy dj make this place an absolute gem. Ambiance is great, but if your heart desires a clubby vibe, this is not the place for you. Ice is done with an ice pick, as I have come to expect from any respectable establishment in Japan. Would return many times again if given the opportunity. Sake taster was very decent and a good starting point for people new to sake.

My favourite bar in Kyoto. A unique oasis for music lovers staffed by two accomplished musicians serving fine craft beer and nihonshu. Menu changes on a weekly basis. Events feature DJs and international brewery takeovers.

Cozy little record bar to enjoy some Japanese craft beer with great music playing on turntables. The owner is very welcoming, the atmosphere very pleasing. I was even allowed to have him played a record I bought this day which made the moment even more special. Highly recommended for people with limited Japanese level like me.

Great bar and record store, absolute highlight of Kyoto! Only place we visited multiple times during our stay and we bought multiple records that will stay with us for a long time. Their beers also rotate with great Japanese craft beers that we haven’t seen anywhere else.

The dreamiest little Japanese jazz bar, on a dark backstreet in Kyoto, where the bartender/DJ wears a kimono and pours sake in a jug. I also had one of their craft beers, and it was so good. Nice music and great vibes. Whatever your plans are in Kyoto, don’t miss this place.

Great small bar in kyoto spinning great jazz on vinyl and pouring great drinks. Nothing more to ask for. The bartender Sato was very engaging and a delightful host while the music being played was very good. I definitely reccomend this place to anyone interested in a good time with good vibes. 5/5 we will be back

So cozy and chill to listen to the records! Really enjoyed trying an assortment of delicious sake at a really good price! I don’t recommend coming with a big group but if you’re alone or here with 1 other person, I can’t recommend it enough!

This place is an hidden treasure. Well manicured, thoughtfully designed with an amazing drinking menu. The host was so gracious and the vinyl selection rare. I found my love of prog rock - Peter Gabriel 2, ELP, Led, Brian Ferry and many more. Just perfect.

On a very small side street in a non tourist neighborhood- this is like walking into a Murakami novel and trying to figure out which characters you and staff represent. Six or seven seats. The woman behind the bar is hip and charming and knows her music played from two turntables at end of the bar. Local beer! Take very narrow windy staircase to second floor small carefully curated record shop with lots of unusual reissues and Japanese only pressings. We spent a couple hours just working to talk across language and culture but talked about everything from books to sensibilities of different Japanese cities. I will always remember my time spent here. The home cured cucumbers are great.

V cool bar with lovely staff. It's super small so you end up chatting with others (if they speak your language!). Music was great and they also had old British (?) films on which was interesting to watch over a quiet drink.

  • 5/5 Koichi O. 4 years ago on Google • 1 review
This little craftbeer/sake & music bar offers 5 taps of Japanese domestic and/or overseas craftbeers and regularly 8 kinds of Japanese sake at reasonable prices. The bar opens at 14:00 and closes at 23:00 (last order 22:30). The bar is a bit difficult to be found out, but it deserves to be visited when you visit to Kyoto. They have many vinyls for sale on the 1st floor and you can make a trial listening for free at the bar counter on the ground floor. They're having music parties and events with DJs mainly on some weekends.
