Restaurant Japanese restaurant Japanese delicatessen

👍👍 Food was excellent, not to mention we had a huge variety of fresh and seasonal dishes. The woman working spoke English to us to make us feel more comfortable and at home. The entire experience was pleasant and I would definitely come back again if I'm ever in Kyoto! People often mention Japanese, owner, good, Kyoto, dishes, sides, lunch,

Today I was led to some of the best Japanese food I have ever eaten--I've never had agadashi tofu so good. Adachi in Kyoto serves traditional home-style Japanese food. They have been around for 71 years. Set meals are under $20. Everything was so flavourful I didn't even touch the soy sauce.

Nice place with good food. You order a main dish and it comes with set sides of five different items, plus miso soup and rice on top of that. Food was good but it was nearly all full of tourists which dilutes the Japanese feel a bit. The lady who was serving was rushed off her feet attending to everyone as it seemed like it was only her and a chef running it. She was lovely though and spoke very good English.

This restaurant was lovely! There was something for everyone in our party (including a picky eater), and the owner is just the nicest lady. Food was A+ and I would highly recommend going!

This place offers several main with many tiny side dishes like the traditional Japanese home dining style. Their food is always well prepared. The lady in charge is very friendly and nice, making sure everyone leaves happy.

Traditional Japanese food. The service and food quality were good. The price point is quite affordable. The lady even helped us with the directions for our next destination. Fantastic.

Possibly best place to go if you want an authentic Japanese lunch experience. Genuine and very friendly host/server. Extremely cheap for this quality. I paid exactly 1000 yen for my whole meal. The glazed mackerel I had was amazing. Menu changes every day and the side dishes don't have labels so you gotta guess what they might taste like and just point at the glass display to make your order. Make your decisions fast because it's busy in there.

Yuriko is a 3rd generation owner of Adachi and her family's passion for food and love for customers shine through each interaction and meal. Japanese home cooking at its best with seasonal side dishes and a rotating menu of mains - all for 1,000 yen.

Amazing price fix lunch on the weekend. Very personable owner. We had a choice of several mains and about a dozen sides. Be sure to check hours. We knew they did not open until noon, but were running early and ended up sitting on the sidewalk for half an hour - well worth it.

The hospitality and food here were 10/10. The owner was lovely and did her best to accomodate to me not speaking Japanese. I choose the mackerel and it came out with all these yummy sides.

The food and service here were amazing. We spoke no Japanese, but an English menu with pictures of was brought to us and the subtleties were explained. My wife and I went with our 5 and 8 year olds, and their kid-friendly game was on point. Kids' sized chopsticks, cups, and friendly, welcoming treatment. The food was incredible and plentiful, too. Great value. So many side dishes! It was a joy to sample so many things.

We grabbed lunch here today - it was absolutely faultless. It’s a tiny little place with just a few tables. We had absolutely loads of food - a main, 3 sides, rice and miso (plus drinks) for around $40 (4 people). Really good value.

Highlight of our trip to Kyoto, host was lovely. Gyoza was fantastic and my partner loved the Mackerel. Once we were done she had us write in her guest book and gave us Kyoto themed paper. Had a great time, thank you.

Japanese style cuisine with fresh ingredients from Kyoto area. I had a variety of Sashimi (with excellent Maguro), Agedashi Tofu with Tempura and vegetable side dishes. There is also a small, but fine choice of Japanese Sake. Very friendly staff. Recommended!

One of the best meals I've had in Japan. Simply choose your protein and various accompanying dishes will arrive. The owner is a delight and will explain everything delivered to you in great detail. She takes pride in serving homely food done well.

This restaurant serve a good food. The fish a little bit sweet, but the texture very oishi. The owner really helpful, very kind and make sure the customer happy.

Terrific Japanese food served in a cozy setting. It tastes like a great home cooked meal. The owner is very nice and hospitable, the food is delicious and comes with 5 sides which are all amazing, and there is some great sake here as well!

Wonderful little hidden jewel in Kyoto. I went there for lunch with my brother and I cannot recommend it enough. The food was fresh and delicious (lunch set at 1000 yens with a main dish and 3 sides + rice and tea), all seasonal. Menu in japanese, no english version but the owner, one of the kindest person I had the chance to meet in Japan, will gladly help you -- she speeks english and has travelled so she loves to hear your story ;) You should definitely drop by for lunch if you have the chance!
