Delicious food and friendly staff. We were served promptly and very satisfied with dishes that we had ordered. I definitely recommend this restaurant - especially ramen. The place is small so it might be necessary to wait in line to get a seat :)

Discovered this gem while exploring the surrounding area for an early lunch. Quite a small but Intimate shop ran by two lovely ladies. We had their Ramen + Rice bowl combo and was blown away by how tasty everything was. We also loved the fried Gyoza. One bite and you’ll experience the perfect crispiness on the outside paired with its soft and warm pork filling!

Cozy atmosphere, walked in wait time was about 10 minutes. Good ramen and soupless ramen. They also had a fried chicken and fries which was very good. Friendly staff.

I should start by saying that my wife and I just decided to get a ramen brunch at 10:30 on a Sunday morning and lo and behold, there's a place open and only a few minutes walk from our hotel. It's a small place, cat themed obviously given the name, and simply laid out. We ordered and paid at the counter, the bowls of ramen are delivered to your table and you're supposed to bring the bowls back to the counter after you're done. We both got a large bowl (1000 yen; small bowl is 900) of soup ramen. The stock seems to be shoyu and mackerel so quite tasty and the ramen itself is the thin type, very much like Chinese noodles. Unfortunately also with the alkaline taste from making the noodles. If you don't mind it then it's fine, but with the clear soup, the alkaline taste is evident. The char shou is thinly sliced and fatty so gives some additional richness to the broth. Overall, I don't mind eating there but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there (unless it's another Sunday morning and nothing else is open again). I give it 4 stars for the availability though it's probably closer to 3 stars for the food.

Really yummy ramen and dry noodles! The table has some great condiments to add to your bowl. Not too pricey, nice staff and a nice place to sit down!

Super delicious abura soba! I got the spicy miso abura soba and it was incredibly flavorful with great texture! Their karaage was also great! Staff was very welcoming and nice :)

Nice place, staff professional. I tried my favorite dish: oil soba noodles, very nice, but they don't put the egg inside, i prefer with half cook egg. Anyway raccomanded, fried chicken good, less then 1300yen

We had ramen, soba, and fried chicken yesterday, which was super delicious. The price wasn't that bad either.

The soy ramen was a rich and flavorful broth, tasty pork and lots of green onions. Calmer place away from the water temple that's a great spot to relax after checking out that area.

Delicious soba! Amazing flavor by itself, but also with the little things available to add like 7 spices, vinegar, or onions. Sets are a great deal. Got medium original soba, chicken tempura, and rice for 900yen.

Reasonable price with great quality. Original soba is fantastic. Topped it up with an egg and it was flawless! Fried chicken is flavorful and retains the light crispiness, something that is not like typical fried chicken.

Cat-themed ramen place run by 2 ladies. They were one of the few places opened early on a Sunday morning near our hotel. We ordered a large ramen each and it came in huge amount of ramen, 3 thin slices of pork in a nice soup stock. All that for only 1000 yen. The ramen however is abit soft and had strong hints of alkaline. If you don’t mind that, this place is value for ramen - loads of it.

Great little spot off the main hustle bustle street leading up to the temple. Food came out quick and menu was nice and easy to read and order from. Ramen and beef rice bowl were both delicious. If you're in the area recommend coming in for a refueling before enjoying the rest of Kyoto. Gyozas were also a hit with the kids. とても美味しい. Totemo oishī. Very yummy!

Medium portion is not very large, with 900¥ price it feels a bit too little. Taste was good! Pretty empty at dinner time on weekday.

Stumbled upon this restaurant as we were walking down the road from Kiyomizu-dera. Great food, loved the Abura Soba.

Good portion at reasonable pricing. Convenient location along the main road. Upon leaving the store on the right, you can see the Kiyomizu Temple on a small quaint street.

Great food. Nice service. Cash only. We had the noodles and some of the fried chicken. Highly recommend both.

This place is so good. We found this while walking in Kyoto and we're so glad we stopped in. The owner and chefs are really nice and cook the best food. My wife and I both got the spicy miso abura soba and shared chicken kaarage. The abura soba is amazing, although it is very spicy. My wife and I love spicy food and this was on the hotter end of spicy for us but it was perfect. Highly recommended!

Delicious and cheap! We got the specialty dry soba which came on a bed or rich sauce. Mix together and enjoy! Only cost 800 yen which is very reasonable. Staff seem friendly and service was quick. If your in the area check it out!

Would recommend! Really nice clean broth. Top 5 karage I’ve ever had - the crispy thin ginger exterior is super refreshing and complements the fried chicken really well. The large ramen has *a lot* of noodles - no wonder there were multiple groups of high school boys here! Gets busy during rush hour (lunchtime) but it moves fast! They give many options for spices & sauces (black pepper, spicy sesame chili oil, hachi [red pepper flakes], and vinegar)

Tried the soy sauce ramen, broth was so comforting and delicious ☺️ Portion was just right and the staffs are friendly too!

My husband and I stopped in while in Kyoto and it was a win. There is a set menu with combo options. Each item is pictured so you know exactly what you are ordering. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our order arrived at our tables within minutes. I really enjoyed the options for sauces and spices. We tried all the options and couldn’t pick a favorite. The venue is small but clean. The bathroom has a poster with proper edict for travelers which was great! We both would love to return to try more of the dishes here!

Fast service and a great place to warm up on a cold day. Delicious beef donburi! And the melted cheese is good too.

  • 5/5 Laura D. 1 year ago on Google
Very good deal (800 yen -> 1100 yen with tax) for ramen and karage with rice. Soy sauce ramen was flavourful and the chasu was soft and smoky. The karage was also well cooked.

Spicy is really spicy. Nice and cosy place. It has about 3 tables of 4 and 6 counter seats. Food was good.

Delicious spicy abura soba! No broth, but lots of flavor from miso chili sauce. Get the set with the karaage if they haven't run out. Be sad if they did, because it was really good. Good value, friendly staff, convenient, can get crowded. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious, they have some English translations and the staff will understand you if you try. The brothless ramen they have here is better in my opinion than the classic brothy one. I still think about this place sometimes when I'm hungry, would definitely recommend!

4.5 stars. Good price/quality. Nice atmosphere. Easy to understand menu. Great assortiment of condiments to go with your ramen, and a handy iinstruction sheet on how to use them. Waitress knew some English and was very kind.

Very fast service and yummy fried chicken with rice, pork ramen without soup. Great price too. The menu is available in English so you can’t make any mistakes.

Love it! Their soba is delicious and authentic. The place is not that hard to find. Price is friendly too!

A friendly staff, available to try the glutinous exture of abura soba noodle, and also Korean style cold noodle, but you should know quite different from the traditional KR one.

Great Food! Must Try this Aburasoba (Dry Oiled Noodle) The Chicken Kaarage is exceptional too! Love the set deal!

This place was so good!! I’ve never had aburasoba style ramen — it was truly a journey of flavor! Highly recommend the original aburasoba if you don’t know what else to get. I want to come back and try the spicy miso!

This quaint little ramen shop is at the start of the way up to World Heritage Site. The food is good. In my opinion, the dry ramen tasted better than the wet ramen. Either way, the food was filling and the egg was cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced good food. Worth it!

👍👍 I went there for the children section and it was very nice. They have a good soft playground for babies/toddlers and my son had a nice time there. In the parents room you can give food, clean and take care of your child, but also weith and measure him. This so convenient.
