The cafe upstairs is a great place to take a load off and have afternoon tea and cake. The double fromage cheesecake is probably the best I've ever had. Paired with main-store only black tea, it was the most heavenly dessert experience. Service was noticeably a bit slower than expected, but was good overall. The shop on main floor sells lots of tasty treats that make for good souvenirs. Tax-free is also available for purchases over ¥55,000.

I didn't try the cafe but we went all out for the snack store here. I also finally got to try Le Tao's cheese fromage ice cream in this shop. 🥳🥳🥳 One of 3 best ice creams I've tried so far in Hokkaido. The cheesy milky flavor was just captivating. The staff also sometimes gives chocolate sample for people to try. My family love it and bought lots of chocolates here.

This is the main store where LeTao’s story all started. I recommend having your afternoon tea in the cafe located on the 2nd floor because it serves a variety of cakes exclusive to this store or Hokkaido only. Spending your time in the cafe also makes you feel being part of LeTao’s history. P.S. Make sure to make a reservation at the cafe to avoid waiting in line. P.P.S. Do you know what LeTao stands for? The renowned dessert shop on Otaru. We went to the second floor cafe for their cake set menu, which you can have one of their three famous cakes and a drink, including tea, coffee and juice. We ordered a cheese and a chocolate cake. Both were fantastic with tea. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing us English menu as requested.

Cafe on 2F. You need to order one item per person. 1F they sell ice-cream, souvenirs and cakes (whole/cut). • original double fromage cheesecake - v light and fluffy. • chocolate fromage cheesecake - our favourite. It adds character and enhances the original's taste adding a slight more substance. • the Deux fromage roll is sold in the main store (frozen) and needs to be kept in the fridge and eaten within 48 hrs. Make sure you eat it when it's defrosted (when not fully done it's not as good. When defrosted it's good - better than the original cheesecake for me). • The soft serve is good. We had the chocolate vanilla mix form the leTAO chocolate store and enjoyed it in a cone.

There’s a ticketing system to eat at the cafe located on the first second floor. We arrived at about 1:30pm and there was a line of about 12 groups in front. The QR code on the ticket allows you to check the status of the queue which means you can use this time to explore the shop downstairs, the observatory on level 3, or any of the surrounding shops. Took about 30 mins until our number was called. Each person is required to order one dessert and one drink, we got the Amazing cheesecake set which included the famous double fromage as well as the Venezia Rendez-vous. We also got the apple and caramel pudding. For drinks we got the iced seasonal black tea and iced The sound of Carillon. The cakes were all so delicious that when we finished, we ordered a chocolate double fromage :) Total came out to about 3,000 Yen. Super excited for LeTao to open up back home in Sydney.

A famous cafe just opposite Otaru Music Box Museum with lots of desserts in nice packaging. There is a cafe upstairs but be prepared for a super long queue. While waiting, one may go to the observation deck for a nice view.

L1 is retail. L2 cafe and top floor is observatory. We were there on Saturday afternoon. Knowing that we need to queue, went up cafe and saw the queue machine. Press for queue ticket and estimated time 45mins. Take this time went opposite music box museum, Otaru steam clock sightseeing. Check queue using LINE app and come back when it’s near my turn. Ordered the dessert set for 2. Then 3 cakes are really delicious. Average for the drinks.

Long wait at a certain time. The lower level is the cake store. 2nd level is the coffee shop. The double cheese cake is a must. There is an observation deck. We didn't go up there. The opposite is another store

Cheesecake is so yummy. The top floor has a sit in cafe that you get a number for. You need to order one cake set per person. I also really liked the tea. I preferred the original over the chocolate. I also tried their soft serve ice cream from the first floor and it was very creamy and sweet.

Waited a long time for a table at the Letao Cafe. The staffs were really helpful when I requested to put a birthday message on the cake I ordered for my dad. They included the candle and made sure it’s a surprise. Really appreciated the service. Needless to say, cakes are yummy as expected. It’s a nice and relaxing place to enjoy some cakes and a cup of tea!

Over rated cafe. Crowed due to it “name” but cake is jus avg. I’ve tried better cake at Hokkaido Before. Waited 45mins to get a seat Waited 1hr to have my orders - 2cakes and 1 Apple tea to be serve cos staff forgotten my orders. Took 15mins finished my cake and went off. I didn’t bother to take pic of the cake. Really disappointed. Won’t recommend or come again.

Tourist hot spot. The products are of good quality. The shop is welcoming and warm. Toilets available. Staff are efficient and courteous.

Very crowded. Came many years ago but it wasn’t crowded, but this time, 2022, it was crazy. The yuzu cake is great. Highly recommend. Coffee is so so. Recommend cocoa or hot tea. Take the queue number and walk around the street. U don’t need to be there, just make sure u check the status and come back when u r at least 2 groups away.

Visited during winter and tried their cheesecake. The cheesecake is light, smooth and has superb taste. The shop also sell other souvenirs as well. Tried their cheese ice cream and the taste is quite good. Recommended to visit Le Tao when you visit Otaru

Taste very good. Various kind of cakes and bakery. Good view if you sit outside on upper terrace.

We visited this place last year before the pandemic struck. Walked past this store when we were heading to otaru music box museum. The cake was really soft, fluffy and delicious. Will come back for sure

Nice little cafe near the Otaru river. Staff were very friendly and gave us recommendations on what to order. The cake 🍰 and tea ☕ were delicious. There's also a lighthouse tower on the 3rd floor 🗼

The good thing about this shop is that they give out so many samples so you can try a lot of things before you buy them. The bad thing I think is their tendency to rely on chemical flavorings instead of letting natural flavors stand out. I had this milk ice cream but didn't feel it was particularly milky or satisfying as good Hokkaido dairy should be. I was disappointed and turned off from buying any more ice cream throughout the rest of my trip. The staff at the shop were young and very well trained and helpful so I think that is their strength. Another strength is their modern design and the packaging is quite attractive so their sweets make for really good gifts. The ingredients they use aren't terrible but just lower than my high expectations.

Delicious and tasty dessert, nice interior and view from the 2nd floor. I think there were schools visiting this area for the day, so there were so many students dining in the restaurant during this time. Must be popular among Japanese students. Must visit if you are in Otaru.
