The long-awaited flame earthenware! The entire Katoen family is here🔥I'll be looking around for a while, but it's okay. Anyway, there are a lot of flame pottery, or rather, there are too many flame pottery...😻 Earthenware with birth patterns often seen in Yamanashi-Nagano There are no pottery with pottery patterns, incense burner-shaped pottery, or clay figurines found. When I asked the staff, they told me that there were almost no birth certificates or clay figurines. It is said that flame pottery disappears after a certain point. By the way, the famous fiery pottery from Yamanashi-Nagano reached its peak in the middle of the Jomon period, around 5000 years ago. Since I can go on a day trip, I often go to see the Jomon museum and museum in Yamanashi-Nagano. Both pottery and clay figurines come in a wide variety of designs. However, just talking about Niigata's pottery, it felt like we were in a completely different cultural realm. I think what we believe in is completely different. Although there are Jomon patterns, they are motifs and there are no signs of living things. There are so many fiery pottery that it's scary. I went without looking into the entrance fee and it was 200 yen👀 I thought it was amazing and grateful that I could see this much! The objects in the plaza in front of the facility are also a must-see. It feels like a fusion of Jomon people and modern people, which is strangely powerful. I came here because I wanted to see this too. It was a long trip since I was touring, but I was satisfied 👍

I came here because I wanted to see flame pottery. We were guided and explained by a young female curator. Only those excavated at Umataka are called ``flame pottery,'' and those excavated outside of here are called ``flame-shaped pottery.'' I learned this for the first time. However, this pottery is very attractive. I feel that any of the pottery on display is good. Some of the items were made by staff members, and I was impressed that I could make them myself. On the day I visited, it seemed that an event was being held to rank favorite pottery, and after voting, I was presented with an unglazed magnet that resembled a piece of pottery. This made me extremely happy. The staff also treated us in a very nice manner. This is a museum where you can feel a dream. I would like to come again.

Here you'll find the familiar figure from textbooks, ``Flame Earthenware''. In addition, there are other types of ``flame earthenware'' and ``flame-shaped earthenware.'' Admission is 200 yen (150 yen if you display your My Number Card), and there are exhibits about pottery and the ruins next door. You can touch a replica of "Flame Earthenware". It's easier to hold and lighter than I expected.

This is an exhibition hall located at the Umataka ruins where flame pottery was excavated. It is located in the western part of Nagaoka City, and there are few buses from the station, so it is convenient to go by car. The Niigata Prefectural Museum of History is also nearby, so it would be a good idea to visit it together. The entrance fee is 200 yen, and there is a large parking lot on the north side. In 1936, one of the pottery discovered here was given the nickname "Flame Earthenware", and other similar pottery are called "Flame-shaped Pottery" and "Crown-shaped Pottery" to distinguish them. In the middle of the Jomon period, large villages were built along the Shinano River, and flame-shaped earthenware was used there. In particular, many were excavated in villages from Nagaoka to Tokamachi, and it is thought that they had an area of influence. This place is also located on a river terrace and has a great view. A variety of pottery such as shallow bowl-shaped and flame-shaped pottery have been discovered, and the artistry of the Jomon period is astounding. Japan is proud to have such a culture 5000 years ago!

(Translated by Google) Flame-type pottery is in a festive state. I have visited several museums and art galleries in Nagaoka City, but I feel that none of the facilities are motivated in other regions. At other museums, flame-type pottery is only exhibited one by one for posterity, but here it is still overwhelmed by the quality and quantity. The more burp you get, the more you can taste the flame-type pottery. This is a great deal at 200 yen. What's more, all-you-can-eat photos and videos are generous. If you drive, we recommend you to watch it together with the Prefectural Museum.

Visited on October 14, 2023. Adults: 200 yen. Although the museum is small, it is decorated with a lot of earthenware and other items. This is a museum full of Jomon history. The Umataka ruins were excavated by the Kondo family, the landowners, for three generations. Subsequent research revealed that flame pottery from the mid-Jomon period was unearthed at the Umataka site, and pierced pottery from the late Jomon period at the Sanjuinaba site. The exhibition was interesting to see how flame pottery changed over time. Niigata seems to have a lot of flame pottery and crown-shaped pottery. If you like the Jomon period, pottery, and clay figurines, you'll be able to enjoy it for a long time. The grassland area adjacent to the Jomonkan is the Umataka ruins, and across the stream is the Sanjuinaba ruins. It might be nice to relax in the grassland.

Although it was a small exhibition hall, it had a lot of content. When I looked at various actual pieces, I got a vague design image of Jomon pottery (flame pottery) resembling flames, but I personally feel that the creator may have abstracted the fish, the sea, the birds, and the sky. I did.

I went from Yokohama to see the flame pottery. We first took the bus to the Prefectural Museum and then walked from there. Because the theme is narrowed down, the explanations and exhibits are easy to understand even though it is a small museum. It was very good. We took a fun survey where we had to answer which pottery we like best, and we received the coaster and magnet shown in the photo. I'm so happy about this❗Still, works of art like this from 5,000 years ago often come up. I was able to forget about time and immerse myself in thinking about the lives of the people of the Jomon period over a long period of 5,000 years.

I came to see the flame pottery. Although the museum is small, the content is very rich and I thoroughly enjoyed it. After all, flame earthenware is wonderful. The other exhibits are also worth seeing, so if you are a fan of the Jomon period, this is a must-visit facility. The building is located in a corner of a spacious ruins, so it would be a good idea to take some time to tour the restored building. If you are coming from afar, we recommend visiting the nearby Niigata Prefectural Museum of History and Tokamachi City Museum together. We also voted on the project and received goods. However, it is a shame that there is no museum shop, although this may be unavoidable since it is a small facility. I would be happy if I could buy a commemorative souvenir.

(Translated by Google) 2022.06 Visited Thursday / Mataka Jomonkan (Tohoku crossing and Shinetsu trip) [Time required] 50 minutes [Cost] Admission fee 200 yen / person. No discount [Parking lot] Free [Impression] I stopped by the Mataka Jomonkan on the way from Niigata City to the Niigata Prefectural Museum of History. It's been my boom in the Jomon period for the past few years, so I can't pass through. The main museum here is "Flame-Style Vessels". It is by no means a flame "type" pottery. Just when I was voting for the Nagaoka Jomon Pottery Grand Prix, I got a "Miss Mataka" doll. This museum is divided into two major zones. One is the "flame-style earthenware zone". You can take a closer look at the flame-style pottery placed in the exhibition room center. The other is the archaeological zone. The Jomon culture of the same period as the life at the Mataka / 30 Inaba site was introduced. The area is a plaza, but it must have been excavated and investigated in this area. The situation of unevenness came to my eyes.

A city museum located on the site of the Umataka and Sanjuinaba ruins, where flame pottery was discovered in Nagaoka City. It is said that flame earthenware was produced mainly in Niigata Prefecture. Many of the flame pottery on display are genuine. Admission discount available by presenting Myna Card. A small museum.

(Translated by Google) There is a pottery with the name of flame pottery. The earthenware exhibits are substantial and overwhelming. Nearby are ruins. There is also an explanation video of the ruins. I think it would be nice to have more visitors. I was alone at that time. It's a waste.

(Translated by Google) Although the building is small, it is an on-parade of exhibits and national important cultural properties. What's more, it's a museum that doesn't have any humor because it's all excavated near the site. The gems of flame-style pottery are on display here and there, making Jomon pottery fans feel a blissful time.
