科学技術館 Science Museum - Great for children (and 'older' children too). Many hands on and interactive exhibits demonstrating concepts of all scientific disciplines. I am a retired geologist and worked for a tunnel boring machine manufacturer. I was amazed to see a display dedicated to what I thought were obscure tools to build sewers and mass transportation. It can be crowded and noisy (?) but everyone is having fun and learning at the same time. I was taken too with some of the bicycles on display. There was a block and tackle display where with some work, a small yellow taxi can be lifted into the air. There was a nice drawing (a bit faint) o stairs running up through an old Japanese town (with a manga running around the display). Engaging optical displays and even the floor was eye catching. Photography is permitted and if something perplexes you, wait for a bit and some child will come over and unconsciously demonstrate for you. Multiple floors. Takes at least a couple of hours to do it all.

It’s big building with many hands on activities, kids friendly and resting zone is clean and comfortable However mostly are programmed in Japanese, very few English instructions available; they closed some programs due to Covid situation (we were looking forward to watching the laser name tags but they canceled it) Even though the area is big and many interesting activities but biggest minus point is the restaurant in the basement. Bad taste for a pricey price and limited options, I do recommend you bring food inside and eat at the resting zone, tables and chairs are available and are free to use. Tickets is quite reasonable: 880¥ adults and 400¥ for children, those are under 3 are free and this time you have to book tickets beforehand. Anyway we had a lot of fun :))

I brought my son here while in Tokyo and was very impressed. Even though much of it wasn’t in English it is still worth visiting. I only dream and pray that one day the education system in the USA will be to this scale. If I were Japanese, I’d be honored and proud to have this type and variety of education provided to my children. I’m glad my son got a taste of Japanese excellence even if it was only for a day.

(Translated by Google) Advance reservation is required! I visited for the first time with my baby and toddler and enjoyed it very much. The exhibition is on the 2nd to 5th floors, but the elevator cannot be used due to corona measures. Therefore, the uphill is an escalator and the downhill is a staircase. Please note that the stroller will also be placed on the first floor. Kids really enjoy this place. Wish there was English buttons so kids can actually learn in the process. Everything is in Japanese & they only take cash. Perfect for rainy days.

It was very quiet on a weekday. There was almost no English explanations of the technology which was disappointing. There was some really good exhibits so if they just put the portions of the English manual (that was at the entrance to each room) in front of the relevant exhibit it would really help the understanding. The kids kinda got the gist of most things but the ball run and slow motion jump camera on the top floor kept them enthralled for ages.

(Translated by Google) I went to the Gundam Ace exhibition, but it was very shabby. .. Although it is called "original picture", it is not an original picture but a duplicate original picture because the manga printed on the panel is exhibited. (Manga artists who draw manga digitally are called duplicate originals, not originals) I was looking forward to pen-filling, white, and raw manuscripts, but this is a scam. The manga artist isn't drawing on the panel. Moreover, shooting is prohibited with this. It costs 880 yen for about 15 minutes.

(Translated by Google) This is interesting! ! A facility where you can study science while playing. You can acquire the knowledge learned in the textbook as an experience. Even a small child can fully enjoy what is strange and interesting. I also went here on an excursion when I was in elementary school, but I remember being extremely excited. Even if an adult goes there, there are many things to study, so I recommend it. Because there are rest spaces here and there, adults who are tired can take a break ... If your kid is a real Rube-Goldberg-guy or girl, this is the place I strongly recommend to visit (go direct up to 5F). This museum is a little bit small as a science museum in comparison to the ones in Boston or Miami or Philly, but the same excitement lives here. The museum is located in the northern end of the Edo castle, humble in the bushes. I like this museum better than the science museums in Ueno and Toyosu, as this one has more direct attractions.

Kids tech museum that is waaaay better (and cheaper) than the kids tech museums in the SF Bay area. Each floor is divided up into sections to showcase different technologies. Medical, optic, physics, construction, manufacturing, transport, computers and many more... I really like that the exhibits clearly show the real world applications of technology to the kids. Exhibits are mostly in Japanese, but have simple instructions and diagram to follow. Many hands on exhibits that show how things work. You can tell lots of thought and effort went into the exhibits by how good they were. We brought our 2 kids, ages 4 and 7 who had lots of fun. It was a field trip day in June for local elementary so it was crowded, but still got plenty of opportunity to get on the interactive exhibits.

Very nice and informative place to be with kids. * First of all the entry fee was so cheap in Tokyo standards for the service. It was ~¥800/- for adults and ~¥400/- for kids roughly. * They have display of quite a lot of science and technology organized systematically. * The planetarium show explains quite a lot about solar system, stars, constellations, galaxies, galaxy structures and universe. There is no special fee to attend the show which was quite amazing. * There are scientific experiments demonstrated at various places. The facility is located very close to imperial palace and near to the art museum too. In short I strongly recommend you guys to make a visit. NB. - Try to use public transport as it’s in the center of city, parking can be quite expensive and at times you may find difficulties to get a parking lot in a busy day. - Explanation in English language was very limited. So, you may need to have reasonably good skill in Japanese to enjoy the place full. But there are shows and sections that are self explanatory by nature which is still worth for folks who don’t have great Japanese proficiency.

I had a fun time at this museum. Although please be aware everything is written in Japanese. You can still enjoy the interactive things they have here. The first floors (2-4) are mostly for children and young people people. Therefore I enjoyed the 5th floor much more as an adult. I would recommend not eating in the cafeteria as the food is very average and expensive. There is a small cafe instead however where the food looks much better. I think also the gift shop and foyer area could look more attractive to customers. The downstairs looks quite run down.

Really nice place for kids, with lots of different and interesting rooms focused not only on science but also in its effects in society. Activities oriented to children, given by the museum's staff, are also scheduled at certain times. Information is mainly in Japanese, only some small information cards in English are available at the entrance of each room.

A very interactive kid's museum, similiar to The Exploratorium in San Francisco (though this museum isnt as large as The Exploratorium). They have 4 total floors (2-5), with themes split up between the floors. We found the 5th floor the most interesting. There is plenty of space for "rest areas", probably to accommodate school classroom trips. There is a very small food room that sells basic japanese food and drinks, as well as cup noodles, snacks, and desserts. Bathrooms on every floor, with baby bathrooms as well. A cool place to check out with kids. My 3 year old loved it, but I am not sure if it have much revisiting quality to it.

Outdated, cash only, Japanese mostly. Puzzles missing pieces, worn out machinery. Bicycle history exposition last time updated in early 2000. Dirty walls and poor lighting. Definitely not the high-tech modern Japanese experience we were looking forward to.

Loved my experience here. I was one of the first few people on a weekday and walked through exactly 1 hall before an avalanche of kids materialized out of nowhere. As a grad school student, I learned to love science and engineering from similar places but of a much smaller scale than this. It was fascinating how interactive so many of the exhibits were. Concepts which were typically just words on a page (and a picture if you were lucky) were being experimented with by those kids and I was pulled into enjoying the learning-while-playing experience with them. Not knowing much Japanese, I couldn't understand some of the exhibits signs, but look out for laminated boards with a brief overview in English of what each hall is about near their entrances. The staff at different points of the museum were very helpful throughout, even while assisting supervisors with wrangling all the kids. Enjoyed every bit of my 3 hour walkthrough.

I have an emotional attachment to this museum ever since my very first elementary school field trip back in the 1970s. It (and the entire surrounding area) since became a "playground" for us kids growing up in the neighborhood. Both very educational and entertaining at once. They used to hold large seasonal events and festivities on the premises for all to enjoy & participate in. A must visit for gluttons for knowledge & information (even if you don't speak or understand any Japanese.)

(Translated by Google) The Science and Technology Museum, located in Kitanomaru Park, offers exhibitions and experimental classes by a public interest incorporated foundation and supporting companies. The price is normal. There is a slight difference depending on the corner, but the oldness of the facilities and exhibits has become more noticeable compared to the Science Museum of Ueno and the Future Hall of Odaiba. Especially for computers, there is a corner that uses fossil-level ones for today's children, and it may be better if you give the Science and Technology Museum a little more. Honestly, I think that adults will carry over. Experiment and experience classes are more popular than others, so I think it is better to go when there is a classroom for children.

At about 850 yen for entry, not worth the price. A quarter of exhibits closed due to corona. What was left was old, out of date, not very interactive, and made ridiculously safe (slow and light and soft) to the point of being no fun at all. There were few visitors on a Saturday afternoon and the whole atmosphere was fairly depressing, like an amusement park long past it’s best days and headed for closure.
