(Translated by Google) Other reviews said that low-grade rooms were bad, The special room was the worst. Considering corona and convenience, we made it a special room with a cypress bath in Kiokekan. However, the door of the cypress bath, which is essential, did not close, the shower did not come out (there was only paper in the room), there was no one to guide me to the room, and there was no explanation. In this case, there is no point in choosing a special room with a bath. There were no yukatas of a good size in the room, and they were "out of stock" in the hallway. This is the first time I've had a special room like this. Even at ordinary inns, if you call them, they will bring them to your room for elderly guests. It can't be helped that the room is small and old, but the walls near the ceiling are corroded, the walls are peeling off, the contents are popping out, and mold is growing. If it was a room like this, it would have been nice to have a normal cheap room. It was inconvenient because I had to drive my car to a parking lot far away. At another inn, they will give you priority to park in a good place, and if you are far away, the staff will carry your car and luggage. I got it. Due to the extension of the prefectural discount, many people have come to stay, and they may not be able to respond politely to each and every one of them. Aiming for a time when there is no prefectural discount, we had applied to enjoy a special room at a luxury inn, but suddenly it was decided that the prefectural discount would be applied, and many other people rushed in saying that we could stay cheaply. I was dissatisfied with being treated carelessly. (After checking other reviews carefully, it seems that it's not terrible because it's the prefectural discount season, but it's usually like that.) The bath in the room is useless, so I had no choice but to go to the famous open-air bath introduced in magazines, etc., but it was broken? You can't use it, or you can't use other open-air baths as well. In addition, other customers who were with us in the bath also complained, but the inside of the building is difficult to understand, and there is definitely a lack of guidance. It would have been nice to be able to take care of each person individually, but when many people stay and it becomes almost "self", it is too unfriendly. There is also a prefectural discount, and if it wasn't a special room with a cypress bath, I would have been convinced that it would be like this, but the treatment is bad, I can't use the cypress bath, and the room is not the worst, so this is a normal hotel room. It would have been better to have When I checked out, the staff told me from above that I was lucky to be able to stay in a room that I wouldn't normally be able to stay for at this price for prefectural residents. Even if you use the prefectural discount, the price is higher than your favorite hotel with good treatment. It was room which had high grade by far while we stayed so far, but treatment was the second from the worst. (The first one is the I*en Hotel, but the price is cheap over there, so I felt like I couldn't help it.) If you can't use the cypress bath, I would have liked a response such as lowering the price to the same rate as a room without a bath. Just because it's a special room doesn't mean it's large or high quality. As mentioned above, it was a terrible room that was extremely unsanitary. Regarding the special room with a cypress bath that is too terrible from the questionnaire at the time of checkout and the inquiry column on the website, regarding the provision of an old, narrow and unsanitary room as a special room that cannot use the cypress bath on the signboard questions, complaints, etc. I wrote down my phone and e-mail contact information, but if it's a long-established Tamura, at least I'll have to ask for some kind of apology for not being able to use the cypress bath while keeping the fee. I thought that it might be, but since there is not even a reply, I will attach this evaluation.

(Translated by Google) It is a wonderful inn where you can enjoy hot springs. We stayed overnight on 3/5 (Sat). I visited by car and the snow was flickering, but normal tires were fine. It was a quiet and historic inn with a nice atmosphere. There are 5 types of baths, each with different characteristics, so you can enjoy each one. The baths are not connected, so you need to move a little. The soup stock tasted good both in the morning and evening, and it was very delicious. Because it was a weekend, many people were staying there, but I was able to spend time in the dining area and bath without being crowded.

Enjoyed five different kinds of onsens, almost all to myself (I didn’t meet much people)! The location is beautiful, quiet, spacious … and the hot spring there (Shima-onsen: 40,000 hot spring) is well known for curing the stomach and all kinds (40,000!) of other illnesses. The water has no color or smell, but felt silky and soft. I also liked their steam bath in the basement: not as hot as a sauna which was just right. Their dinner menu had a small twist (originality) and I enjoyed it too. I’m happy to visit again :)

We had the pleasure of staying 3 nights here in November 2019. Shima Tamura is an absolute gem. It's a fairly big quirky hotel that has been built over a long period of time. I think the oldest part is from the 1600s. The service was anything we could ask for, both in the reception and during meals. The food was amazing, and they did a great job accommodating our no meat diet. They have a nice selection of both indoor and outdoor baths. I especially enjoyed the view from the bath to the river and waterfall. It is definitely worth the detour to get here!

Loved the old Japan feel of the hotel from the moment you enter. Rooms have real tatami. Staff very friendly and made you feel like family. Scenic and peaceful countryside view from my room. Quality tea and snack provided. Onsen and food topnotch. Wish I could stay there every year.

Amazing onsen (with lots of variety), food, and staff. Only complaint is some parts of the building seems a bit run down. The hotel is old so it’s understandable, but could use a little TLC here and there.
