It was a really nice stay in Fujisan Onsen Hotel Kaneyamaen. We checked in the afternoon. Experienced free Japanese green tea tasting with a river view, and a cup of rice wine in the garden. My husband went to Onsen as well. We had a full hour traditional dinner in a private dinner room. They also provided a fob that could access a lounge with 20+ kinds of wines and lots of snacks. There’s unlimited fancy ice cream bars as well! If you like experience the culture, there was a drum show after dinner. On The second day, I saw the Fuji mt. thru my patio. And an amazing Onsen experience with Fuji mt. view. We finished up with a Japanese breakfast buffet! The entire stay is a 5 stars must recommended ! The room was Seseragi Japanese Style Twin Room, Mt. Fuji View, Non Smoking

The hotel facilities and room was fantastic. Spacious room and having a private onsen with a view was a rare opportunity. The room was quite well maintained but some items were a little worn out like the leather on the armchairs. The bundled breakfast and dinner were average only unfortunately. The 7+ course dinner was way too much and not every dish may be to yiur liking. The breakfast food quality seemed much lower than dinner. The staff were always very polite and helpful. Some staff spoke English and when they didn't, they would find one who did for you. Overall, a memorable experience but at a very high price. It would be better to exclude bundling the 7 course dinner and allow guests to choose less lavish meals and food that they will definitely enjoy.

Highly recommended it. Unexpected event they provide full your time at hotel. Welcome tea good experience, Hot spring must try at the 10/F. Facing big Fuji view mountains amazing. Nice view. Also have a taiko drum show after dinner, They have provide a free lounge drink snack time at night time. Wine free-flow. Japan simply clothes wear provide for take photo. Nice Ambience. They have own garden can spend a time for walking and relax. Hotel so big. Really can spend your time in whole day. My package included breakfast and dinner. Although dinner quite expensive, but in worth this money spend a day at hotel. I'm full satisfied in the trip joining this hotel. I'm very expecting the traditional kaiseki dinner, no disappointed. Very good experience in stay one night here for my honeymoon. If ask me to said that the weak point, the traditional japan style room have some smelling at room, other is no complaints, my first time to booking tatami, sleep well.

We stayed one night as a rest after vacationing in Tokyo and before going to Kyoto. The hotel was an absolute delight and the highlight of our vacation. It was very easy to get to from Tokyo and the hotel picked us up at Mt Fuji station.

Pretty awesome place to pay a visit with family! The decorations of hotels are really beautiful with high class of stylish feeling. The room is pretty beautiful, clean and family friendly, and there is a out door private hot spring inside the room so you can enjoy it with your family. Besides, there is a 大浴場 at 10 floors that you can enjoy the view. However, there are two different periods of time that males can only use it in the morning 6:30-10AM, and females can only use it in the afternoon from 3:00-6:30 pm. Please remember to check in before 3 pm. Great hotel to stay in. It’s a modern hotel with authentic Japanese stay experience. From having onsen to Kaiseki to having someone to wave you goodbye when you board the bus after checking out. The experience and hospitality provided here in this place is amazing! The food here is good too. The kaiseki served was so well done. The presentation and food was awesome. Breakfast buffet in the morning was way above the “usual buffet in hotels” too. Special shoutout to Aimishinozaki who pleasantly added to the experience of our kaiseki by being so hospitable & cheerful!

Nice view, nice food and nice garden. Lying in the bed viewing Fuji Mountain is very enjoyable moment. Everything is perfect here except the room bathroom. A bit small and hard to navigate. That’s all I can remember. If I will visit Fuji Mt. again this is the must hotel to stay.

Magical place! Service is impeccable. The greeting team is like no other. It's important to note that it operates like an all-inclusive resort with a dinner schedule (prefix menu), drum show time, a ticket to the tea room and gardens and specific times for open air baths (alternating days for women and men) and indoor baths, separate for men and women (nude). Some rooms have a private bath on a balcony. I recommend you get a traditional room with a private bath facing mount fuji. My ONE complaint is the lack of vegetarian options at dinner leading to mostly miso and rice. On the other hand, there was a huge selection at breakfast (the term 'buffet' minimizes the experience). Higher quality souvenir shop as well. We did bring kids and it was fine. They need to know in advance and they'll prepare food for them.

The room allocated had black mould in the bathtub and cockroaches. When I asked if I could be moved or if something could be done there was no apology and no offer to clean the bathroom. Apparently, there were no alternative rooms. The service overall was below par for a 4 star ryokan. The dinner and breakfast was average. In addition, it was on such a low floor that the view of Mt Fuji was blocked by a brick wall It is a huge hotel and very touristy.

Great traditional Ryokan with beautiful garden. No Tattoos allowed so book an open air bath if you are tatted. The top floor open air bath has unobstructed view of Fuji. Fresh flower arrangements scattered throughout the hallways and rooms. Dinner is alright but buffet breakfast shines. Drum show at night is a spectacle.

Great view of Mount Fuji from your room. The hotel is very huge and comes with Japanese Garden which you can roam around for fresh air. They provide free afternoon tea with small desserts too. Best part of the experience is the dinner, which comes with Appetiser, soup, sashimi, main course of beef or fish, hot pot or sukiyaki, rice and then desserts. Each family is sat in a small room of its own. All in, this is a good place for family, but the price is quite expensive.

Dated luxury and disappointing cuisine. The pros: Greeted as soon as we arrived, very polite staff. Nice garden to walk around in. Drum show was well done. The cons: What appears to have been a lovely hotel 15 years ago, now, is now in need of renovation. The rooms and facilities were quite dated, with chipped paint and appliances that likely have not been replaced in 10 years. The food was the worst I’ve had in japan. Honestly, the worst. My fish was cold and overcooked, the rice was over salted and what probably was a lovely cut of meat, was cooked well done, likely to please the conveyer belt of guests. Due to a food allergy, 2 courses were completely omitted. Apparently there are multiple rates, and come come with access to other restaurants, but the main restaurant was about as good as a bento box from the train station. There was a tea ceremony, though I would not call the experience a ceremony by any definition of the word. The room was dated, didn’t include water (maybe I’m spoiled, but this is a minimum I expect), and had a weird smell. Also, being nice, almost no one on the staff speaks English, which made basic requests (eg changing the size of the in room clothes) very difficult. Overall, my husband and I expected a lavish 5* experience, but one that of a 2* hotel. Greatly overpriced and terrible food

Our favorite hotel on our honeymoon trip. It has a walking trail that leads to a summit/view point of Mt Fuji, two beautiful bath areas, and a lounge with wine, beer, and snacks. We visited the public onsens during the day, while many other guests were out, and had the entire place to ourselves.

We left this hotel stay to the last leg of our trip so we can finish our holiday off in a nice and relaxing way and it definitely didn't disappoint! We stayed for two nights in the garden view room with a private onsen and it was so lovely. The rooftop onsen was amazing!!! We had clear skies both days and Mount Fuji looked even more spectacular in real life; photos don't do it justice (not even the promotional ones). The peak was still covered in snow and it was soooo beautiful. The view from the rooftop onsen was so breathtaking. They also have an onsen on the first floor with partial view of Mt Fuji which was nice. Depending on which month you go, you can only go to the rooftop onsen early the morning or afternoon/evening (based on gender); so it's nice to have the other onsen with the partial view so you can still enjoy Mt Fuji in an onsen in a different time of the day. The Japanese guests were courteous and we took turns viewing it from the best spot if it got busy. I always had a go. Customer service was top notch. We don't stay in high end hotels like this much, so we really felt like VIPs haha. I also really enjoyed the food. Since we stayed two nights we had two different dinner courses. Some other reviews seems to rate them average but I've had a good number of kaiseki dinners myself and I think it was pretty good. My only comment about the food was an onsen egg we were served in one course - think it should be served runny but ours was quite cooked. Buffet breakfast had some western style options. Website also has clear details on how to contact the hotel to pick you up from a nearby station. We also went to Fuji Q Highland and they drove us there and picked us up at the end of the day. Not sure if they usually offer this service as the girl we spoke to initially said we have to return back to Fujisan station to be picked up, but the driver offered to pick us up directly that day. It was also a quieter period so that might be why. The Taiko drum show and bingo game was fun. All in all it was a great experience. Yes it's very expensive but it's comparable with the other hotels in the area.

Hotel Kaneyamaen is definitely the best hotel me and my wife visit in our trip to Japan. First, the room is amazing, clean and perfectly arranged for us. Secondly, the garden outside the lobby is just beautiful and face against the best parks of Japan. Thirdly, the service is unbelievable. We enjoy every minute of our stay!!

This hotel is unbelievable! The quality of the food, the view, and the entertainment are world class. I’ve been there three times and never been disappointed. The view of the Mt. Fuji from the outdoor bath is magnificent. It’s expensive, but you must treat yourself and the love ones when you’re in the mood for pampering.

Amazing experience that included onsite hot spring, shuttle to take guests to various train stations, helpful staff for various questions. The room was spacious and the service was excellent. The breakfast was one of the best we ever had, many selections. We had a room with direct view of mt. Fuji.

Very disappointing onsen hotel. I’ve been to one which set the bar. Starting with location, it is very far from the station. Sure they have courtesy bus to pick you up from the station when you arrive but after the checkout time 11am, they expect to send you to the station by 12pm. Anyone who requests to be sent after that shall not be entertained. There isn’t anyone at the front desk after checkout time too. So after checkout we aren’t your guests anymore? Food, food for onsen hotel was disappointing. Flavours for course dinner just didn’t make sense. Restaurant was hectic and didn’t feel prestige at all. Hospitality overall, it doesn’t live up to onsen hotel hospitality at all. Everything in the hotel from drinks to food to snacks all have to paid despite the initial premium room charges. The only thing free was a small cup of matcha. Such a shame.

A beautiful place to stay! The private onsen in our room was beautiful with a backdrop of Mt. Fuji. The rooms were spacious and the staff exemplified true customer service. Our experience from start to end was top notch!

Very nice hotel for vacation! The view is amazing and staffs are extremely nice. However the hotel is far away from the station, also nothing around the hotel so might need a car for convenience. In addition the food is not live up to its expectations (price wise). Overall it is a really nice place to stay!

A great ryokan in the Fuji area, great food and baths, with a lovely garden and interiors, and views of Mt. Fuji. Everything was clean with beautiful flower arrangements throughout. An evening Taiko performance and fireworks for the kids was a pleasant and fun surprise. I'd recommend it if you are visiting the area, as it is in a convenient location.

This review is based on a stay in a room with a private onsen and included kaiseki dinner. First, the ambiance is absolutely incredible. Every detail has been attended to, from lighting to carpeting to the clothing of the workers. We were warmly greeted and a hostess was assigned and took us to our room. There we enjoyed tea, explanation of the facility (garden, cafe, restaurant, onsen locations) and also overview of our room. The room was incredible, so spacious and well appointed. We arrived early enough to enjoy walking the garden, which was a real treat. The hostess had brought yukata which were quite comfortable. Dinner was a real treat - 11 courses prepared absolutely beautifully. After feasting, we soaked in our private onsen; the quiet, serene space was brilliant and the hot spring fed water felt incredible. The next morning we soaked again before breakfast, an incredible buffet with so much variety any person should be satisfied. From rice porridge to eggs to pickled fish and everything inbetween, it was a hearty and delicious start to the day. Can't recommend enough a stay at this hotel - they are incredibly friendly, well organized, and the stay was a real treat!

My husband - Kaden - and I stayed here for a couple of days as part of our honeymoon trip. The view/hotel is gorgeous and we loved how open and bright our suite (“Sanri”) was. The private onsen is just perfect. All of the staff was extremely kind and welcoming, but we found the restaurant service to be one of the highlights of our trip. We dined in the “Sakuya” room. On the first night, are waitress was really sweet and funny and helpful. She took a wonderful photo of us when my husband asked for something to commemorate our honeymoon. She must have also left a note for the wait staff because on our second night, we were given a private dining space as well as a special honeymoon gift. We opened the gift today and it’s beautiful. I teared up because it was such an unexpected - but deeply appreciated -gesture ❤️ I’d love to come back every year. This place felt like an amazing escape from the rest of the world. Thank you to all the staff!! ❤️❤️❤️

The room is great with a private onsen overlooking an amazing view of Mount Fuji. The hotel building is a little old but still quite charming. What I was disappointed about was the kaiseki dinner that was provided. Everything was overcooked, expect grilled fish dryer than hay, uninspired strawberry sauce that tasted like melted ice cream and semi fresh sashimi.

A beautiful onsen located near Mount fuji. We paid for a room with a view and even though the weather decided not to cooperate, we couldn't see fuji almost the entire time, I'd still suggest it because if we could have seen it the whole time it would have been even more beautiful. I'd take some time to walk through their garden as well. It's pretty good size and very relaxing. The hotel itself is lovely but I have to admit we spent almoat all our time in our private onsen, well worth the money to have one in your room. The staff was also very kind and helpful. When we were checking out they had a small bit of difficultly understanding some of our questions but they have a device on hand to assist with translation and obviously some language issues are to be expected if you don't speak Japanese.

From the moment we drive up, I was surprised at how old and run-down the building exterior looks. We walked inside and it had an odor of mildew and sawdust, and the interior was dated from the 1980’s-style. We then learned upon check-in that the hotel doesn’t allow tattoos in the onsen (which is the whole reason to book), even though they don’t advertise that on Agoda or any of the booking websites. We paid $500/night for the second most expensive room in the hotel and it smells horrible. It smells somewhat like urine, and then the room has fluorescent lighting in the ceiling. We were supposed to have magnificent views of Mount Fuji, but as you can see, we can barely see it from the dirty window (and the balcony is inaccessible). When we complained to them about the misleading advertising, they told us we can bathe in the tub in our room. But that tub is ugly and small and has no view and isn’t onsen water. I have stayed in beautiful ryokan before and have never had this horrible of an experience. This was devastatingly bad and it ruined the whole mood of our mini road trip to the Mount Fuji area. DONT STAY HERE! Smelly, old, fluorescent lighting

We paid a premium for one of the Western style rooms with a private mountain-view bath and was not disappointed. What we didn't expect was the scale of the hotel and the wide range of services available. The hotel probably caters more to domestic travellers but we still enjoyed the service throughout. We were treated very well and the facilities are all top notch. Enjoy the nightly kodo, and bingo! It is easy to request the shuttle from Mt Fuji station to the hotel and back, but don't expect to have much of the common tourist hotspots within walking distance. However it is easy enough to get around. My only regret is that we could only spend a couple of nights here - we were able to enjoy some of the sights in the vicinity but probably should have spent more time just relaxing and enjoying the hotel's vast, expensive amenities. My only minor gripe is that there is safety netting on the balcony where the bath is, so you have a slightly obstructed view of Fuji-san. However, this probably isn't an issue for most people.

We had a beautiful one night stay in Hotel Kaneyamaen during the cherry blossom season. I was initially apprehensive about paying the expensive nightly rate to be at this hotel for less than 24 hours, but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that was well worth the price paid. Upon arriving at the hotel shortly after, we were greeted by a hoard (no exaggeration) of ultra friendly and charming staff who doted on us and provided us with the warmest welcome. We were taken to our room for tea and an "initiation session" in which a staff member told us about the evening events that were scheduled, gave us a map of the hotel, took our sizes for slippers and kimonos, explained how to wear the kimonos, and answered our questions. This level of highly personalized and attentive service was consistent throughout our stay. We stayed in the Waraku room (in the Yuraku Yamabiko-tei wing) and it was very clean and spacious. We had a tatami room with a traditional low table and floor seats (which they moved aside in the evening to set up the traditional Japanese bedding) and a private onsen on the balcony. The room had a view of Mount Fuji, however you had to peer out to the side to see it (it wasn't directly in front). There was plenty to do on site to occupy your day. The garden is enormous and quite lovely for a walk, especially since the cherry blossoms were in bloom. We then went to the tea room for a "tea ceremony" (not a full blown one, they simply provided us with a mochi sweet and a rich bowl of perfectly frothed matcha). After enjoying our private onsen, we headed down to dine at Mikuri, one of the many restaurants on the premises (this was included in our nightly rate). We had a set menu of about 9 courses, and once again we were treated like royalty by the restaurant staff. The food was Japanese contemporary and the plating was beautiful. We very much enjoyed everything that we ate, and there was a large quantity and variety as well. We also tried some interesting drinks including the yogurt wine, plum wine, and yuzu honey cocktail, all of which were delicious. After dinner, there was an awesome taiko drum show in the lobby followed by a Hanami party in the lounge area facing the garden (to celebrate the cherry blossom season). In the morning, there was a buffet for breakfast with a huge selection of both western and Japanese foods. The only negative thing that I have to say is in fact not about the hotel but of its location in Fujiyoshida, a town that is not exactly picturesque, to put it nicely. Even after walking around a bit, we were unable to find the perfect shot of Mount Fuji that wasn't marred by power lines, parking lots, or run down looking industrial buildings. However everything you need to have a good time is already in the hotel, and the mountain looked majestic and impressive regardless. The location was also conveniently located within a 10 minute shuttle ride to Fujisan station (arranged by the hotel). Overall, it was an incredible, memorable and romantic stay in a spectacular, elegant and unique hotel. The service at this hotel is unparalleled and we are incredibly thankful to the hotel and restaurant staff who pampered us and made our stay so relaxing and luxurious. Thank you and we are looking forward to returning one day!
