Great station to connect easily. There are services on JR as well as Shinkansen. Convenient to transfer. There are so many lines which can be quite confusing. But the Signboards are clear. Ameyoko market, Ueno zoo and Ueno Park are nearby. Keisei Skyliner starts from here and reaches Narita Airport in just 40 minutes. Substantial souvenir shops. Coin lockers for baggage are available. There are many shops and eateries within the station. If you wish to buy fresh fish and local foods, visit ameyoko market which is a just a 2 minutes walk from here.

Big and beautiful station, really. But alas, it can get confusing. So many exits, so many ways to go to the exit you need to go to. So many people, the entire scenario will just add to your confusion, because everyone is also busy rustling about. Come early if you have an appointment you don’t want to arrive late to so you can have a few spare minutes in case you end up getting lost inside the station.

(Translated by Google) Ueno station. When I was still in junior high school, the upper floors were conventional lines. There were limited express trains, express trains, and night trains on the lower floors. With the opening of the Shinkansen, limited express trains, express trains, and night trains towed by electric locomotives disappeared, and after the end of the Showa era, Ueno station was the first station and SL was running! Tohoku. Joetsu. The Shin-Etsu Main Line night express trains are matcha-brown cars and passenger cars painted in blue. Limited express. The night limited express is towed by a sleeping car, and the Blue Train also starts here at Ueno Station. I feel lonely now that it has disappeared due to aging. Before the opening of the Shinkansen, it changed from the JNR era to JR, and the Shinkansen opened, and now it is active as a station only for conventional lines. Next time, when I go to Ueno, let's take a picture! I remembered it and wrote it! Ueno station with nostalgia! (Translated by Google) This station was opened in 1883 (Meiji 16) and is served by JR East and Tokyo Metro. Before the opening of the Tohoku Shinkansen, limited express trains, express trains, and night trains to Tohoku and Joshinetsu frequently arrived and departed. Even now that it has become a transit station, it still retains the appearance of the northern gateway of the good old days, for better or for worse. In the late 1970s, I used to take pictures from the 5th morning to the 9th night. Due to the renovation of the park exit, the road in front of the station has disappeared and there is no waiting for traffic lights ♪ (Original)

Ueno Station is a major railway station in Tokyo's Taitō ward. It is the station used to reach the Ueno district and Ueno Park—which contains Tokyo National Museum, The National Museum of Western Art, Ueno Zoo, Tokyo University of the Arts and other famous cultural facilities. A major commuter hub, it is also the traditional terminus for long-distance trains from northern Japan, although with the extension of the Shinkansen lines to Tokyo Station this role has diminished in recent years. A similar extension of conventional lines extended Takasaki Line, Utsunomiya Line and Joban Line services to Tokyo Station via the Ueno-Tokyo Line in March 2015, using existing little-used tracks and a new viaduct; the Ueno-Tokyo Line connects these lines with the Tokaido Main Line, allowing through services to Shinagawa, Yokohama, Odawara and Atami stations.

Ueno Railway Terminal is the special place for me. I came here with my father and young brother from Aomori by the "Akebono" sleeper train when I was 11 years old. My uncle who lived in Yokohama welcomed us and took us to the Transpotation museum, Tokyo tower, Asakusa and etc etc. This was the first time I had been to Tokyo. Now a quite long time has passed, both my father and the uncle passed away. The Akebono has been discontinued. I'm now almost the same age as they were. However, the platform at Ueno Terminal has not changed anything and still welcomes the people from the Northen part of Japan.

One of the best train stations I have visited, Ueno station features countless amazing restaurants and stores. I could truly pass hours here without getting bored (or hungry), exploring the wide range of exquisite shops within the station. It is located directly adjacent to the tranquil Ueno Park and is the perfect location to find a meal before visiting this park. A lovely station design that is immensely easy to navigate with numerous coin lockers and helpful features.

Ueno station was the final destination for all of people from northern part of Honshu Island in Japan before the bullet train developed up to Tokyo station. Right now, less people get off at Ueno Station but still it is one of a hug train station in Japan.

Huge station , though not as big as some of the others like Shinjuku or Tokyo. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the platform for the intercity trains. The station's layout is confusing if you haven't experienced Tokyo's wild mix of multiple train stations branching out of the same building.

It is a really large station, and sometimes it can be very difficult to navigate. The signs can be a bit difficult to follow, so the first time here is very intimidating. Once you get used to it and find the route, you get used to it. If you're taking the Ueno-Tokyo Line, keep in mind that it shows up as purple on Google Maps, but in reality it's marked as orange and called Utsunomiya Line on practically all signs and you have to get into the JR part of the station. Google Maps like forcing you to transfer onto this like at the Ueno station, but the completely incorrect colour and name make it unnecessarily challenging to find unless you real the very fine print on the very few signs that mention this supposed Ueno-Tokyo Line. On the other hand, I must applaud this station for remaining constantly clean, having plenty of vending machines and countless IC card charging machines.

(Translated by Google) There are many trains that depart from Tokyo Station, but Ueno Station is the de facto gateway to the Kita-Kantou and Tohoku regions. With a history of more than 100 years, most of the parts have been renovated, but you can see the relics and used things at that time in some places inside the station. On the other hand, as a terminal station, it is considerably more complicated than Tokyo station, and even people who often use Ueno station get lost. Not to mention that the Shinkansen platform is underground, the floors of the Joban Line may differ depending on the railway you use. If you get lost, you can check the display on the electric bulletin board or ask the station staff for the destination and the train you want to use. It is important to note that the ceiling of the passage from the central ticket gate to the platform of the Yamanote Line and Keihin Tohoku Line is low in some places, and you may hit your head.
