This was a huge miss between expectation and reality. The best thing about the hotel is the gorgeous lake view and being able to see the fireworks from our room. However, the facility is super dated. The bathroom reminds of an atrocious 1970s midscale motel bathroom and requires some serious renovations. And the poor shower setup with the short bathtub/shower results in water overflow onto the bathroom floor. The service is also very disorganized. The workers often seem frazzled and a bit lost. They charge like it’s a luxury hotel ($800 per night) but it’s upscale at best. If you do come, just level set your expectations. The marketing is misleading….

Our room faces the lake and is spacious. Morning View is fantastic. Had their kiseki dinner, but it is very disappointing. Their morning buffet breakfast is decent. Service is fine except that they refuse to give us extra drinking bottle of water. Nearby have a few restaurant and izakaya. Top level of resort have hot bath and also an outdoor one!

One star for the view of the lake. One star for the fireworks. Food is average, slightly above at best. Service is horrendous, we had to push our luggages in a cart to the room ourselves and to clear our own trays at the buffet. Staffs are not welcoming at all. We requested for high floor and non smoking - was given level 4 (out of 9) and it is a smoking floor. Quite an unpleasant experience to be honest - is it because we are not Japanese?

One of the most memorable places during our trip to Japan! This unique hotel experience on Lake Toya was mind blowing… you will eat well and you will be very relaxed after your stay. The rooms are incredible, the lake is beautiful, the onsen on the roof was absolutely stunning! I highly recommend making a the trip to experience this hotel!

Absolutely stunning! The Nonokaze Toya offers an awe-inspiring, zen atmosphere. The variety of delectable food choices is incredible, especially their Kaiseiki meal - an absolute delight! The onsen experience was fantastic, having a private onsen that was the highlight. The room's amenities and toiletries were of good quality. Witnessing the fireworks from the comfort our room added to the enchantment. This place is perfect for visiting throughout the year, and for fall visits, a helpful tip: Don't forget to wear a mask and sunglasses/glasses to protect yourself from snowbugs! ❄️🕶️ It was pretty terrible to deal with them. I can't wait to go back to relax and rejuvenate. Tip 1: You can't check in earlier than 3 pm, but you are allowed to leave your luggage. Tip 2: Take the scenic route.. it's too beautiful to describe

Definitely will stay again. Luxurious yet not overpriced. Room is comfortable and spacious by Japan standard. Well equipped amenities. Location is ideal, right in front of the lake and beside the sightseeing ferry terminal. Booked the private onsen. Clean, comfortable, spacious. Enjoyed very much.

Visited Dec’19 Second time coming back and Lake Toya Nonokaze never disappoints! Thank you! It has a modern minimalist lux feel to the design of the ryokan with lots of glass everywhere so you get an amazing view of the scenic Lake Toya. Staff were amazing, displaying true Japanese omotenashi spirit and each time I come - I feel completely recharged with the outdoor onsen perched on the roof of the hotel. You sit in the warm waters of the onsen, with snow falling down your shoulders and overlooking the lake - what a picturesque moment. Highly recommend to upgrade the dinner buffet to the course menu served at the restaurant- the crab legs were so huge and simply delicious. Hopefully travel opens by the end of year and looking forward to be back again.

Surely relaxing and luxurious experience staying in the Resort. - stunning lake view, very spacious room with modern facilities. and nice staff. However, a non-Japanese speaking tourist still encountered some inconvenience - when booking the airport shuttle service online, I was not informed of time of boarding and the duration required until I asked in another email and after boarding the van respectively. I was told of the long journey when I boarded the van. ( almost 2.5 hr) (because of the collection of tourists from a few other hotels as well) I would have made better decision if I had been told of the above information.

My initial impression was not favorable due to the receptionist’s poor attitude. She impatiently informed us that check-in was only possible after 3pm, despite us not having said anything upon our arrival at the front desk. This experience, however, improved significantly when we returned at 3pm. Huang Lu Wei, the receptionist on duty, was extremely courteous and took the time to explain all the hotel amenities. The onsen was fabulous, featuring an open-air view of Mount Yotei. Both breakfast and dinner offered a good variety of choices. The hotel staff members were attentive and polite. Our room, with its stunning morning view of Mount Yotei and the lake, was particularly impressive.

Fabulous, lakeside onsen hotel. The hotel has a range of rooms and meal plans but the real attraction is the service, location and onsen. The lobby is beautiful and spacious and links the two buildings that comprise the accommodation. There is a guest lounge, gift shop, separate souvenir shop and dining area with lake views. If you are staying in the left hand tower as you face the lake, you have easy access to a range of guest areas, including a work out area, kid's lounge and library lounge where you can listen to music.

Nice, big hotel which has an excellent service. When we arrived, the staff also parked our car and took immediate care of our luggage. The hotel is very modern and big, also the rooms are very spacious and we had a great view on the lake. The dinner and breakfast is buffet style, but for a buffet, it is quite good and has a big selection and also live cooking stations. On the second evening you also get 3 extra dishes. What I have to say that there are quite many people and families so the atmosphere was a bit too loud for us. It also seems that the hotel is quite popular with Chinese people what was a surprise for us. The spa and onsen are is super nice and they have different baths and also two saunas. I especially liked the outdoor rooftop onsen, which was amazing. All in all a very nice hotel but if you seaking for a more relaxing place it does not get all the points as there are just too many people and travelling groups.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a "local experience". Sometimes fancy hotels and bnb's don't really give me the vacation vibes I'm looking for especially if what I want is to just get away from it all. This is why I would recommend The Lake View Nonokaze Resort to everyone who wants a different vacation experience.

The property is one of the most famous and luxury resorts in Lake Toya area. You can have great buffet with incredible scenery just in their restaurant, and enjoy a extremely unique rooftop onsen as well. Moreover, a panoramic view of Lake Toya which you can easily get from the room is simply stunning. Overall, highly recommended! There’s only one thing that can be improved a bit , which is the gathering place of shuttle service could be stated more clear!

This place blow my mind away! In particular the infinity onsen pool at the roof top overlooking the lake. Not only I never seen one before but the way its open air design allow you to enjoy the natural air and look at swallow flying in the air. The view is spectacular that I don’t want to leave! Highly recommended.

View from our room was fantastic and Onsen water was lovely however the hotel itself wasn’t too impressive unfortunately. Way too many “研修生” -just joined the team people and Asian groups which mean no knowledge what so ever when you ask questions and also everything take way too long. Building was old too so bathroom and the toilet was dark, smelly and mallow. I would expect more from Japanese 4-5 star hotel and £700/night stay! ※ English speaking level from Japanese staffs are … 3/5 I would say

Not what was expected from its price. Room is a bit aged. Air-con is not working and very humid until after midnight. Got upgrade to the new room but still aircon is not working properly. Food is good. Parking is away from hotel (5 mins walk) but have shuttle bus service. Public bath is good.

View from the room towards lake Toya is fantastic. Do note that not all rooms have balcony. But those room that’s have balcony have a very good view of the fireworks during summer. Staff are helpful and polite. Outdoor onsen is fantastic! It faces the lake directly, during the daytime, u can view the lake as you soak in the onsen, during a clear night, you can see the stars as you soak. The room charges indicated on any booking website does not include the onsen tax, which they will collect on site (300 Yen per person). Room was spacious. They even have separate rooms n dining area for pet owners. The facilities in the room are pretty complete. Tv have Chinese & Korean shows on & off, besides Japanese channels. However the aircon personally I feel is not strong. There is a lounge area with free drinks at certain timing, n play nice jazz music all the time. The only slight disappointment I had is the food. With the amount paid, I would think it’s authentic Japanese dinner set, it’s not. It’s buffet, both dinner & breakfast. And the taste is quite ordinary. However, the dining area comes with a great view of lake toya too.

The resort is located at a good location. The room was nice but too warm. Unable to adjust the temperature of the room. The variety of the dinner and breakfast buffers were quite limited, disappointing experience.

This hotel has a breaktaking view of Lake Toya. You are able to view the fireworks at night from the comfort of your room. Buffet breakfast and dinner is amazing. Highlight for the dinner was the Mont Blanc dessert and Hokkaido Steak. Onsen was also good. The view from the open air onsen is good. However, Room was not very big and the service could have been better. After 9-10pm, there is no more free drink service in the lobby (no coffee or water either) which was a slight disappointment.

Have visit this beautiful hotel before. Great service from the whole team. Special thanks to Mr Huang Lu Wei. Yesterday during our stay, my son fell sick and Mr Huang Lu Wei(hotel front desk staff from Taiwan) assisted us prompt, professional and kindness. We don’t speak Japanese. He helped gave directions for us to get to doctors, booked taxi for us and guided us how to get back. Mr Huang is a great asset to the Nonokaze hospitality team.

Amazing resort. This was one of the stops on our honeymoon trip, and we really loved the service, the authentic Japanese food, the liquors and the onsen. I especially loved the rooftop rotenburo despite the subzero temperature. Whilst enjoying the view of Lake Toya from the rotenburo, I thought to myself how great it was to be alive. Thank you for the awesome experience.

Chose this resort due to its sick view of Lake Toya from inside the resort & also its layout. Good 👍🏻 1. View of Lake Toya didn’t disappointment from inside resort. 2. Wide spread of food selections for breakfast & dinner (included in package) 3. Nice massage chair at each level of resort 4. Rooms were well equipped and come with yukata, suits to further cover up and many towels for the baths. 5. Many bath options (Public bath at Lvl 2, Onsen at Lvl 9). I liked the onsen as it had multiple baths to choose from (unfortunately the open air bath was closed), with mist sauna and hot air sauna. There’s also a cold bath (albeit very small). 6. Fireworks: Everyday at 8.45pm, you can see the fireworks at Lake Toya. We sat at our dinner spot overviewing the lake and watched the beautiful fireworks. Bad 👎🏻 1. Cold service from front counter when we arrived at 7pm+ to check in. We asked for some help to bring luggage up but he coldly said for us to take our stuff up to our rooms, then come down at 7.30pm for dinner. Later on we saw a lady staff pushing a trolley (that can fit luggage), so we were upset that we weren’t even offered luggage carrying services. Hope the staff speak some English please, don’t need to be perfect English but enough to communicate with your guests! 2. Food: Repeated for each breakfast & dinner respectively, pls change some items up. We were also forced to clear our own plates into the big trays instead of staff clearing for us (Hey we are paying top dollar for this resort so we expect decent service). Me and my friend bite into salmon BONES on 2 separate occasions 😡 Chef pls make sure you fillet properly and remove all the bones before serving!!! 3. Public Bath: The level 2 one looks damm decayed with tiles gone so the water splash the interior and hence the water was greyish. Quite yucky. Pls fix and beautify the tiles. 4. Room service: We were not informed on the timing of the room service so we were caught off guard. Perhaps they did say but in Japanese, would prefer if they spoke in English abit. Furthermore they removed the 2 futons in the room so we had to request for 2 futons again for 4 of us to sleep in. Verdict: Mixed feelings, I personally won’t be back here again since there’s other resorts to try anyway. One might wonder is it because we are not Japanese (xenophobia)?

Location is top notch. Onsen facilities are great, there are about 10 different baths and one outdoor bath with an breathtaking view of the lake. Rooms are nicely decorated with a modern touch, and again with an amazing view. In-room onsen was ok, but I think the public ones are much more worthwhile. The restaurant buffet is quite good. I was impressed by the variety. It's still a buffet so do not expect fine dining quality wise. But it was still a pleasant meal.

a very popular onsen hotel for Asian tourists, occasionally we saw local Japanese arriving. couple of large onsen facilities, all well maintained. especially I liked the onsen at the rooftop, more relaxing and had a great view of the Lake Toya. we also tried the private onsen, more private but the room was quite tight. we booked 4D3N half-boarding package directly via the hotel, the services were excellent from booking to departure. the Kaiseki dinners (and breakfast too) were top quality, all been served in a decent private dining room (just small and no window). we came with a car, hotel valet parking managed to park the car off-site.

You can view toya lake in the hot springs, rooms and hotel lobby. Buffet is full of choices and delicious. Definitely a lovely stay.

Great lake view from the room and onsen on top on of the hotel. Beautiful lake all around. Due to Covid lots of tourists attraction was closed but resting in hotel watching the lake was good enough. Food is not so great and no Kaiseki available. Only buffer for dinner and breakfast- both lacking variety and depth of taste…

Wanna gave 10stars 😊 Great memorable Japan trip. Very impressed from all the details. 🩵🩷 🧡 Room was huge. Wonderful relaxing view. Clam and peaceful. 💚 In room layout and function were great. Nice fully set of amenities. 💜 Great breakfast and dinner. Super full line of buffet. Just book the half board is such a perfect stay 💟 One of the best indoor onsen. Like the apple onsen ♨️ and rooftop outdoor onsen is a breath taking view.

Very expensive, but I had a good time. Buffet was nice. And the most impressive was the hot spring on the roof. It was comfortable and relaxing. I could not forget the time I enjoyed there.

Great place to stay if u wanna spend a night in Lake Toya. Hotel is well maintained and excellent room. Breakfast and dinner both are very very good. They have 2 onsen place on 2f and 9f, try both but i recommend the 9f.

This hotel is so great. From the very beginning when we stepped in the hotel, well, actually before entering the hotel, the staff kindly helped with our luggage to the check in counter, and the staff at the check in counter were very friendly and helpful. They also provided a little snack with drink while you waiting. The view from our room was simply magnificent (stayed at the high floor in the main building), and we were lucky enough to see Mount Yotei in the morning. I also enjoyed the hot spring very much, especially the one on the top of main building. Bathing myself in the snow with the view of Lake Toya. How can you ask for more? The only thing to complain, the buffet in the restaurant was not so special and did not provide any crabs during my stay, but still provided quite a lot of different food, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine. Will definitely stay at this hotel if I revisit lake Toya in the future.

Was an excellent stay. Beautiful view, excellent buffet, very friendly staff, awesome fireworks every night at the lake. Would love to visit again

The most amazing hotel in Hokkaido that I’ve ever visit. With great view in the lobby and restaurant that can allow you to have breakfast and dinner with the view of the lake. By the way, the breakfast and dinner should be free. And the meals here are so delicious! Should try the apple juice here! It’s sweet as sugar but so fresh! The buffet is really nice with abounds of choice! After dinner, you may have a walk around the lake. There will be firework show on the lake during May to Oct. The room here is big enough and premium. Should go for the hot spring on the roof! You can easily relax yourself while enjoying the view in the hot spring. And about the service, of course it’s perfect. I mean, you’re in Japan! The most polite country ever in the world!
