令和5年7月リニューアルオープン。主望遠鏡が60cmから五藤光学製の83cmにパワーアップし、22席と小ぶりではありますがデジタル式のプラネタリウムが新設されました。要予約。 展望テラスからは広い範囲が見渡せ非常に景色が良いです。大気の状態がよければ愛媛はもとより山口の山並みもうっすら肉眼でも見ることができます。大気の状態だけでなく途中に雲が無いという条件が付くのでなかなか機会が少ないですが肉眼でもうっすら四国最高峰の石鎚山を見ることが可能です。 画像は天体用のモノクロカメラを使い赤外線で撮影、画像処理を施したものです。可視光ではぼやけますが赤外線であれば画像処理なしでも十分威容ある姿を確認できます。 リニューアルでカメラで撮影してモニターに映す観光双眼鏡が新たに設置されました。光学式より高い料金ですがズームもできるので遠くを見たい時には有効です。 プラネタリウムは当初は解説が少しと番組を流すだけでしたが9月より全編生解説の回ができました。番組の中にはプラネタリウム100周年記念番組があるのでこれが上映終了するころには生解説も増えるのではないでしょうか。
